Whole-body Vibration in Spastic Hemiplegic Cerebral Palsy

To target spasticity, balance and mobility whole body vibration exercises along with selected physical therapy is given to experimental group. Control group will receive only selected physical therapy that includes sstretching exercises, gait training, ffacilitation of postural reactions, ffacilitation of standing and weight shift and facilitation of standing balance by using a balance board.

Progressive Supervised Home-based Strength Training in Children With Spastic Cerebral Palsy

The results of this strength intervention aiming for increased strength and muscle hypertrophy will serve as input for a clinical decision making framework based on muscle and tendon architecture.

Efficacy of Allogeneic Umbilical Cord Derived Hematopoietic and Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Cerebral Palsy

Cerebral palsy(CP) consisted of a group of developmental disability in the field of motor function and is one of the major problems of pediatric neurology and at the present time there is no standard curative medical or surgical treatment for it .Stem cell therapy is one of a new and hopeful therapeutic methods of therapy for CP .This double blind study designed for the evaluation of safety and therapeutic effects of intrathecal hematopoietic and mesenchymal stem cells derived from allogenic umbilical cord in change and probable improvement of developmental functions of spastic CP participants between 4-14 years old and comparing with control group of CP participants without cell therapy . 108 cases recruited and randomly divided to 3 groups of 36 cases : hematopoietic stem cells derived from allogenic umbilical cord , Mesenchymal cells derived from allogenic umbilical cord and control group without injection and appearance simulating lumbar puncture without awareness of the patients and evaluators . Developmental functions and spasticity evaluated before intervention and will be done 1 , 3 , 6 and 12 months after injection . During this period neuro rehabilitation will be continued . Brain neuroimaging were done at the recruitment time and will be repeated after 12 months .

Aerobic Exercise and Transcranial Low Laser Therapy in Patients With Central Nervous System Injury

Objective of this protocol will be to evaluate the parameters related to the function of the musculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory system, through a rehabilitation and training program for people with acquired central nervous system and multiple sclerosis. The study will consist of volunteers with acquired CNS lesions and multiple sclerosis of both sexes, between 18 and 85 years old, and who wander with or without aid devices, randomly divided into 3 groups: Group 1 (cardiopulmonary treatment), Group 2 (cardiopulmonary treatment and transcranial photobiomodulation application) and Group 3 (cardiopulmonary treatment and placebo laser). All groups will receive aerobic training on a treadmill (Moviment®) with the aid of a suspension equipment (BrainMov® Physical Activity Station). The transcranial photobiomodulation (laser diode, λ = 810 nm, beam area 0.028 cm², power of 100 mW, power density of 3.5 mW / cm², energy of 3 Joules / point and energy density of 107.1 J / cm2) will be applied on the skin / scalp and the International System 10-20 at points F7, F8 and AFz will be used as reference for irradiation. Muscular activation, heart rate variability, lung volumes and capacities, fatigability, exercise tolerance, cognition and quality of life will be evaluated before, during, at the end and after two months of rehabilitation. The treatment proposed in this study, using transcranial photobiomodulation, is expected to improve muscle, sensory, cardiorespiratory, cognitive functions and to interfere positively in the quality of life of the volunteers.

Effect of Botulinum Toxin Type A Associated With Physical Therapy on Children With Spastic Cerebral Palsy

Purpose: The aim of this study was investigate the effects of botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A) associated with physical therapy on the functional capacity of children with spastic cerebral palsy (CP). Material and methods: Twenty-four children with spastic CP were concealed and randomly assigned to the Experimental Group (EG) consisting of 12 patients treated with BoNT-A and physical therapy and Control with 12 patients treated only with physical therapy. All participants were assessed through motor and functional scales (GMFM-88, Ashworth, Berg Balance Scale, TUG test and Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory) at three different times: before and after 30 days of treatment as well as 3 months after the end of treatment.
