NCT ID: NCT05866159 Completed - Low Back Pain Clinical Trials

Effects of Kinesio Tape on Chronic Low Back Pain

Start date: May 29, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This clinical trial aims to examine kinesiotape's (KT) short-term effect on individuals with nonspecific chronic LBP (CLBP), including back-specific body perception, pain, functional disability, and physical activity. The hypothesis is that applying KT to the lumbar spine would improve back-specific body perception, reduce pain and functional disability, and increase physical activity in individuals with CLBP compared to the sham-taping group.

Feasibility of an Interprofessional Rehabilitation Program for Chronic Low Back Patients in the Ethiopian Health Setting

IRP
Start date: May 20, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The overall aim of this pilot RCT is to assess the feasibility of conducting a future definitive randomized control trial (RCT) for evaluating the effectiveness of an interprofessional rehabilitation program compared to the usual care in adults with chronic low back pain in Ethiopia. Specific objectives of this study include: - To evaluate the feasibility of trial procedures (recruitment rate, retention rate, adherence rate). - To explore the feasibility and acceptability of the intervention from the patients' and care providers' perspectives. - To estimate the preliminary treatment effect and standard deviation of the relevant clinical outcome measures (physical functioning, pain intensity, workability, HRQoL, psychological functioning) in patients with CLBP to inform sample size calculation for the definitive RCT. Patients with chronic low back pain diagnosed through focused history and physical examination are accepted for enrolment. Each eligible patient will have an equal chance to be allocated to the intervention or control group. Participants of the intervention group will receive interprofessional rehabilitation for four weeks. Participants of the intervention group will receive interprofessional rehabilitation that contain components aimed at enabling optimal physical, psychological, and social functioning, including addressing the work abilities of patients. The components will include a comprehensive assessment, intensified physical activities and exercises, pain education, psychological support, occupational therapy, ergonomic interventions, and vocational counselling. Participants in the comparison group will receive the usual care according to the current standard care for patients with chronic low back pain at the University of Gondar specialized referral hospital in Ethiopia for over four weeks.

Impact of Health Literacy on Chronic Non-specific Low Back Pain

Start date: July 1, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

This prospective cohort study aims to assess the impact of health literacy on the quality of life in patients with chronic non-specific low back pain.

NCT ID: NCT05860426 Recruiting - Low Back Pain Clinical Trials

Confidence in the Ability to Perform Movements in Patients With Low Back Pain

CONFI-LBP
Start date: November 2, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The goals of this observational study are: To determine the validity and reliability of the OPTIMAL-confidence scale in people with chronic low back pain. To assess the influence of confidence and fear of movement on the evolution of low back pain. The main question it aims to answer is if people with chronic low back pain present different psychoemotional variables around fear of movement and decreased confidence in their ability to perform movement that may influence their low back pain. For this purpose, a two-phase study was designed. In the first phase, the OPTIMAL-confidence scale will be validated in patients with chronic low back pain, determining its internal consistency and validity. In the second phase, a prospective study will be carried out with patients with low back pain who attend physiotherapy centres to determine how confidence and fear of movement influence the characteristics of pain and its evolution. Data will be collected at the beginning of the physiotherapy treatment, at the end of the treatment and after three months. The data will be analysed using learning machine techniques.

NCT ID: NCT05860283 Enrolling by invitation - Clinical trials for Mechanical Low Back Pain

The aim of this study will be to investigate the effect of functional exercise on pain, functional disability and core strength in patients with chronic mechanical low back pain .

NCT ID: NCT05859425 Completed - Clinical trials for Non-specific Low Back Pain (NSLBP)

Ultrasound-guided Biofeedback for Transversus Abdominus Re-education in Non-specific Low Back Pain Patients

Start date: January 15, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

As rehabilitative ultrasound imaging (RUSI) for monitoring and re-educating deep trunk muscles is becoming more and more popular in current musculoskeletal rehabilitation and research, the purpose of this pilot study was to explore the effects of applying ultrasound-guided imaging as a means of feedback for the activation/contraction of the deep transervsus abdominis muscle of the trunk during an exercise programme in people with non-specific low back pain (NSLBP). The outcome mesures being explored were pain intensity (primary outcome) through Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS), functional, muscular and psychosocial parameters.
