View clinical trials related to Autoimmune Thyroid Disease.
Filter by:The main study hypothesis is that Sjögren Disease (SD), usually considered a disorder typical of adult females, may occur not exceptionally in adolescence or even in childhood as a subclinical process. There are several pieces of evidence in favor of this hypothesis, from the incidental detection of asymptomatic SD in pediatric age to biobank-based studies showing that biological signs of SD may precede the disease clinical onset by years or decades. The best scenario to verify this hypothesis could be that of autoimmune thyroiditis, for the following three reasons: 1) subjects with Autoimmune thyroiditis (AT) have a high risk of developing SD (7%); 2) in cases with comorbidity of SD and AT the diagnosis of AT had usually been made before; 3) subjects with AT routinely undergo periodic blood examination and neck ultrasonography (US), which may include Salivary Gland Ultrasound (SGUS) providing contributive data to detect an asymptomatic pre-SD. The knowledge of the real association between AT and pre-SD may impact on several aspects of medicine.
Thyroid hormone autoantibodies(THAA) in serum can Interfere radioimmunoassay for the determination of free thyroid hormones. Thyroid function test plays a key role in the diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD), and abnormal examination results in misdiagnosis and mistreatment. At present, the epidemiological results of THAA in AITD are inconsistent, and the pathogenesis has not been clarified. However, there is no relevant research on THAA in China. This project intends to collect AITD patients and healthy people, detecting THAA, at the same time testing thyroid function and thyroid autoantibodies, definiting positive rate of THAA in AITD patients, observing the effect of common therapeutic drugs for AITD on THAA, investigating the rule of THAA influencing thyroid function test results .This project will provide the basis and method for how to effectively avoid THAA interfering with thyroid function test.
Prospective, open label single site study to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of Tc-99m pertechnetate produced by high energy cyclotron at CHUS.
Previously, studies have shown that children of women with thyroid autoantibodies experience more birth complications and poorer health in their first days. Studies have also shown later signs of cognitive developmental challenges (risk of attention deficit/hyperactivity problems) among children of mothers with autoimmune thyroid disease and/or subclinical hypothyroidism. In Denmark there is no formalized screening or treatment of subclinical thyroid disease - with or without Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPO-antibodies) - among pregnant women. The hypothesis of this study is that the offspring of women with subclinical thyroid disease have a mitochondria-dysfunction which leads to more complications during birth, poorer health and well-being in the early childhood. The investigators will test this by recruiting mothers by a blood sample in the third trimester of pregnancy, screen the cord blood at birth and later on test the children with Bayley test two times in the early childhood.
