Filter by:An outpatient rehabilitation program for children (6 months to less than 6 years old) with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) treated with genetic based therapies is being studied. Participants will participate in a 12-week therapy program where they receive 45 minutes each of occupational therapy and physical therapy each week. Home exercises will also be prescribed to be completed 5 days per week. At the end of the therapy program, there will be a 12-week period of no therapy where only home exercises will be completed. Assessments and program evaluation will occur at the beginning (Week 0) and end of the rehabilitation program (Week 24), then at the end of the no therapy block (week 24).
The goal of this clinical trial is to study respiratory muscle training in patients with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). The main questions it aims to answer are: - Is a home-based individualized training program for the inspiratory and expiratory muscles feasible (good adherence and good acceptability)? - Can a home-based individualized training program for the inspiratory and expiratory muscles increase the strength of these muscles? Participants will be asked to perform 10 training sessions per week, spread out over 5-7 days. Each training session consists of 30 breathing cycles through the inspiratory muscle trainer and 30 breathing cycles trough the expiratory muscle trainer. In the first four months of the study researchers will compare two groups to see if a higher trainings load is more effective. One group will start at a trainings load of 10% of their maximal inspiratory and expiratory muscle strength. The other group will start at a trainings load of 30% of their maximal inspiratory and expiratory muscle strength. This group also need to adjust the trainings load based on their perceived exertion. After four months all participants will train on a trainings load of 30% of their maximal inspiratory and expiratory muscle strength and adjust the trainings load based on their perceived exertion. The participants will come to the hospital for lung function tests every four months for 12 months.
Regulation of sexual functions without hormonal support in order to correct the sexual dysfunctions in women with the estrogen hormone lost in the menopausal process. Recently, the reaction to hormonal treatments and the fact that patients with a family history of breast cancer or gynecological cancer cannot receive hormonal treatment have been the reason for applying to alternative treatments. Lubricant treatments are among the treatments that patients have compliance problems in the long term and avoid due to the difficulty of application. Correcting female sexual dysfunctions and post-menopausal women's right to want to feel sexually healthy are the most natural rights. Because sexual dysfunctions cause physiological and psychological problems in women. Thanks to the laser treatment, it is aimed to eliminate the atrophy and sexual dysfunctions of women, thanks to the application of approximately 2 sessions without the need for long-term medication.
Vulvovaginal atrophy affects around 90% of postmenopausal women who may present with symptoms such as dryness, irritation, itching, burning, and dyspareunia that negatively affect the quality of life. Topical estrogen is recommended for the treatment of vulvovaginal atrophy in postmenopausal women and the FDA approved it. But it may increase the risk of breast and endometrial cancer. The oxytocin hormone also promotes positive social behavior, stress regulation, and female sexual arousal. Many previous studies show that topical oxytocin is useful for reducing vaginal atrophy in postmenopausal women.
The ONYX study is an Open-Label, Multicenter, Extension study that will evaluate the long-term safety and efficacy of Apitegromab in Patients with Type 2 and Type 3 SMA who have completed TOPAZ or SAPPHIRE.
This study will evaluate the success and safety of subretinal surgical delivery as well as the preliminary activity of OpRegen in participants with geographic atrophy (GA) secondary to age-related macular degeneration (AMD). All endpoints are assessed for the study eye unless otherwise indicated.
10 Patients having horizontally deficient anterior maxillary areas will be recruited and a preoperative CBCT will be done. The plan is to graft the defective ridges with simultaneously placing dental implants using a PEEK shell that will be specifically designed, constructed and 3D printed to act as a surgical guide for osteotomy drilling and implant placement as well as housing both the implant and the sticky bone (using a mixture of autogenous bone harvested from the symphysis area and xenograft both mixed with plasmatic matrix); that will be added to augment the defective ridge; the PEEK shell will also act as a barrier membrane for Guided Bone Regeneration and will add more stability to the placed implants that will be fixed to the PEEK shell occlusally with a Ti - based abutment. Primary stability will be measured using Ostell and an immediate postoperative CBCT will be done and superimposed on the preoperative CBCT and an accuracy of plan transfer will be measured to make sure the planning was followed accurately. Then 6 months later, another CBCT will be done to check the bone gain and quality and a second surgery will be done to remove the PEEK shell and proceed with the conventional implant prosthetic phase.
The primary objective of the study is to describe the natural history and utilization of disease modifying therapy (DMT) among adult Chinese participants with SMA linked to chromosome 5q (5q-SMA).
Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-designed, multiple-site, bioequivalence study with clinical endpoints.
The purpose of this trial is to evaluate safety and efficacy of intravenous delivery of EXG001-307 as a treatment of spinal muscular atrophy Type 1 (SMN1).
