NCT ID: NCT06267703 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Chronic Atrophic Gastritis

Multi-omics Analyses on Etiology and Early Detection of Stomach Cancer Precursor Lesions

Start date: January 1, 2024
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

The overall aim is to utilize multi-omics approach to identify novel etiopathogenesis and early detection biomarkers for stomach cancer precursor lesions. To achieve this aim, first the investigators will use stored serum samples to perform metabolomics profiling among 12,599 twin subjects, among whom 1034 were deemed to have chronic atrophic gastritis based on measured pepsinogen I and II levels. Logistic regression will be used to search for metabolites related to the risk of chronic atrophic gastritis. Second, the investigators will further measure serum proteome by using two quantitatively precise proteomics assays, among the above-mentioned twin subjects. Identified protein biomarkers will be combined with metabolomics biomarkers to create a prediction model for chronic atrophic gastritis. The results will hopefully improve our understanding of the etiological factors and provide promising early detection biomarkers for stomach cancer precursor lesions.

NCT ID: NCT06178653 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Muscular Atrophy, Spinal

Two Different Treatment Modalities in Patients With Spinal Muscular Atrophy

Start date: December 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a severe neuromuscular disorder characterized by the degeneration of alpha motor neurons in the spinal cord, resulting in progressive muscle atrophy and weakness, particularly in proximal and axial muscles. SMA causes respiratory muscle weakness, recurrent infections, and nocturnal hypoventilation, contributing significantly to morbidity and mortality. Children with SMA often display respiratory and trunk muscle weakness compared to healthy controls. Our project aims to investigate the impact of pulmonary rehabilitation, including inspiratory muscle training, along with trunk control exercises in children with SMA. The study will include 30 SMA patients aged 5-18, with maximum inspiratory capacity below 60 centimeters of water (cmH2O), predicted vital capacity over 25%, and the ability to sit unsupported for more than 5 seconds. The participants will be randomly assigned to two groups: Pulmonary Rehabilitation Group (Group 1, n=15) and Trunk Control Training Group (Group 2, n=15). Group 1 will undergo breathing exercises and inspiratory muscle training (IMT), involving diaphragmatic, pursed-lip, and segmental breathing. IMT will be administered with a portable device, starting at appropriate resistance and consisting of 10 cycles, 10 minutes each, once a day, with designated rest intervals. Also applied by calculating 30% of the maximal inspiratory pressure (MIP). During weekly clinic visits, the MIP value will be recalculated and the current threshold pressure value will be determined. In Group 2, alongside pulmonary rehabilitation, children will engage in trunk control exercises, progressively increasing in difficulty, focusing on pelvic control, proximal stabilization, and strengthening trunk and gluteal muscles. All interventions will be performed in front of a mirror. At the end of the 8-week intervention, MIP and Maximal Expiratory Pressure (MEP) will be used to measure respiratory muscle performance, spirometry will be used to monitor lung volume changes, and Peak Cough Flow will be used to evaluate the effectiveness of cough. The Trunk Control Measurement Scale, the Revised Upper Extremity Module, and the Children's Quality of Life Scale will assess trunk control, upper extremity functions, and quality of life, respectively. The Hammersmith Functional Motor Scale will assess gross motor functions and the Zarit Caregiver Burden Scale will inquire about familial factors affecting the child.

NCT ID: NCT05870774 Active, not recruiting - Soft Tissue Atrophy Clinical Trials

Comparative Analysis Using the Collagen Matrix and Autogenous Graft: Clinical Course, Aesthetic Results

Start date: October 28, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This was an interventional prospective randomized clinical trial (RCT) in parallel groups. The sample size is 32 patients who were randomly divided into two groups depending on the surgical intervention used. First group - patients underwent increasing the thickness of the mucous membrane using free connective tissue graft from tuberosity area of the upper jaw. Second group - patients used collagen matrix Fibro-Gide" (Geistlich Pharma AG, Bahnhofstrasse 40, 6110 Wolhusen, Switzerland; registration in Russia 19.08.2020 No FSZ -20207/11765). In the postoperative period the value of soft tissue thickness gain, severity of pain, collateral edema, amount of analgesics consumed, soft tissue aesthetics, keratinized mucosa width, quality of life and duration of surgery were assessed.

Body Weight Support Harness System in Spinal Muscular Atrophy

Start date: September 7, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this pilot interventional study is to learn about the use of an in-home harness system in children who have been treated for spinal muscular atrophy. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Is the in-home body weight support harness system a feasible option for families to use? 2. Is the in-home body weight support harness system a useful tool for children treated for spinal muscular atrophy? 3. Is the in-home body weight support harness system a safe tool for children treated for spinal muscular atrophy? Participants will be given an in-home body weight support harness system and taught how to use it. Families will document how often and for how long they use the system over 6 months. Children will be given tests of motor function at the beginning, 3-months, and 6-months. At the end of the study, families will be asked to fill out a questionnaire about thier experience using the system.

A Collaborative Resource of Heidelberg Multimodal Imaging of Intermediate and Early Atrophic AMD Cases to Study Prediction of Disease Progression

INTERCEPT-AMD
Start date: May 4, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This is a multicentre retrospective and prospective cohort study with the goal to develop a well-characterised multimodal image database of eyes with intermediate AMD with and without early atrophy. The main objectives are: 1. Develop a collaborative well-characterised database on intermediate AMD with or without early atrophy. 2. Grading of these images to explore imaging markers of progression. 3. Develop predictive models as a secondary analysis of our dataset. This study will recruit around 1.000 eyes in 6 months. All consenting patients who have had at least 3 clinic visits with multimodal imaging done at least at 6 months interval between 2 visits and meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria will be included in the study for retrospective data collection. Those with one visit remaining to complete 2 years, images will be acquired prospectively. In addition to the images, routine demographic data (age and sex) and available visual acuity (VA) (BCVA if possible, VA with Pinhole or VA with patient's glasses) will be collected. Multimodal imaging includes mandated macular OCT with or without enhanced depth imaging and infrared imaging. Fundus autofluorescence (AF) and multicolor imaging are optional. All imaging must be done on Heidelberg Spectralis system.

NCT ID: NCT05638958 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Edentulous Alveolar Ridge Atrophy

Immediate Implants With Customized Abutments

Start date: March 10, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Tooth extraction is followed by marked alterations of the tissue volume. The resorption process of at least the surrounding mucosa can be altered by using immediate implant placement and additional features such as immediate provisional crown, platform switching and grafting the gap between implant and buccal bone plate. The support of the gingival margin with a provisional crown led to an increase of buccal gingival tissue. Teeth scheduled for extraction will be used to study the effect of a customized healing abutment. The following groups will be randomly assigned: Control: A commercially available healing abutment will be screwed on top of the implant and a collagen sponge will be used to protect the graft. Test: A customized PEEK abutment mimicking the subgingival emergence of the extracted tooth will be screw retained on top of the implant to seal the extraction site.
