Biologics and Sublingual Immunotherapy

BSIPL
Start date: May 1, 2024
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Most current studies involve using a biological drug to increase the safety of allergen immunotherapy (AIT) especially in the treatment of food allergies, to avoid the risk of anaphylaxis. However, adding Xolair® to AIT may improve the therapy's effectiveness. There are still few observations on this topic, especially in patients with house dust mite (HDM)-driven asthma.

Tezepelumab and Methacholine Airway Hyperresponsiveness in Participants With Mild Allergic Asthma

Start date: April 1, 2023
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Asthma is a condition where small inhaled particles can cause inflammation in the lung leading to constriction of airways and wheeze. Mast cells are immune cells in airways that can release chemical causing constriction of the airways and wheeze. Tezepelumab is an injectable medication that improves asthma by stopping inflammation, but the effect on mast cells is not known. Tezepelumab was approved in Canada July 2022 for treatment of severe asthma. Tezepelumab is not approved for treatment of mild asthma by any health authority, except for use in research studies like this. This study will examine the effect of tezepelumab on mast cells and airway constriction to understand the mechanisms of asthma, and which patients will benefit most from drugs like tezepelumab.

Effects of Puressentiel Purifying Spray on Asthma Control in Patients With Mild to Moderate Allergy-induced Asthma.

PSIndAC
Start date: May 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The main objective of this study is to evaluate, in real life, the efficacy of prolonged use (6 months) of Puressentiel Air Purifying Spray with 41 essential oils on the control of allergy-induced asthma in the homes of patients with mild to moderate asthma. This will be performed by evaluating the efficacy of prolonged use (6 months) in the indoor environment on the exacerbation and the symptoms of asthma in patients with mild to moderate asthma. The tolerance of the study patients to spraying in an indoor environment will also be analysed.
