Filter by:Assessment of Change in AtheROSclerotic Plaque by Serial CCTA (ACROSS) is designed as a prospective observational study which aim is to demonstrate the effect of statins on coronary atherosclerosis, assessed by quantitative analysis of CCTA.
Quantitative Flow Ratio (QFR) is a novel method for evaluating the functional significance of coronary stenosis. Virtual stent implantation technique combined with QFR was recently developed to predict the functional significance of coronary stenosis as if the stenosis was revascularized. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of QFR in in tandem lesions with fractional flow reserve (FFR) as the reference standard. The secondary purpose is to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of QFR-based virtual stent technique in predicting the FFR values after revascularizing the culprit lesion.
To assess the relationship between serum endostatin (ES) and Coronary artery calcification (CAC) in type 2 diabetic (T2DM) patients.
The study will evaluate patients with, at least, one previous procedure of coronary revascularization (surgical, percutaneous or both), that are referred for a new, clinically indicated, diagnostic coronary angiography, to describe their clinical characteristics, management, and prognosis, and will propose a prognosis-oriented classification.
The purpose of the research project is to investigate the potential association of 6 genetic polymorphisms with the complexity and the severity of coronary artery disease (SYNTAX score). The aim of the study is to combine genetic, clinical and laboratory data in order to create a prognostic tool that will enable an individualized therapeutic patient approach.
ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients affected by multivessels coronary artery stenosis, represent a clinical relevant problem. The management and prognosis of these patents are supported by few literature data. Therefore, in this study authors enrolled real world diabetic vs. non diabetic patients admitted for STEMI and associated to multi vessels coronary disease. Then these diabetics were divided in incretin users (6 months of incretin treatment before study enrollment) vs. never incretin users. In these patients authors studied all cause mortality, cardiac mortality, and major adverse cardiac events at 12 months follow up.
Aortic stenosis (AE) is a disease that has been increasing steadily in recent years in most countries, including Spain.Risk factors for the development of AE include age, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes mellitus and arterial hypertension, the classic risk factors for the development of atherosclerosis. However, lipid-lowering therapy with statins and ezetimibe has not been shown to reduce the risk of long-term progression of AE by unknown mechanisms. All this suggests that subjects with HFhe have a high risk of developing AD, which has not been shown by the high coronary mortality in this population that precedes aortic calcification
This translational study was designed to explore the association of the quantity and quality of epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) with coronary artery disease (CAD), left atrial remodeling and postoperative atrial fibrillation in a high cardiovascular disease-risk population. The investigators expect to identify new biochemical factors and biomarkers in the crosstalk between the epicardial adipocytes, coronary plaques and atrial cardiomyocytes that are involved in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and atrial fibrillation, respectively.
Background: CCTA is a common way to evaluate coronary artery disease. It stands for coronary computed tomography angiography. It uses scanning to look at the arteries that supply blood to the heart. It is noninvasive, widely available, and generally accurate. But it does expose people to radiation. Exposure to high amounts of radiation can increase a person s risk of getting cancer. Researchers want to learn more about the relationship between CCTA and radiation exposure. Objective: To see how much radiation is used to take pictures of the heart and how measures to reduce radiation are used around the world. Eligibility: People ages 18 years and older who need a computed tomography (CT) scan of the heart Design: Participants will be screened with a review of their medical records. Participants may have a pregnancy test. Participants will have the scheduled scan. Small, sticky discs will be placed on the chest. A small tube will be placed into a vein in the arm. A contrast material (dye) will be given through it. Participants will lie on the CT scanning table. A CCTA scan usually takes about 15 minutes if the heart rate is slow and steady.
Quantitative Flow Ratio (QFR) is a novel method for evaluating the functional significance of coronary stenosis. The purpose of the FAVOR II China study is to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of on-line QFR with FFR as the reference standard. The secondary purpose is to compare the diagnostic accuracies between online QFR and online QCA, with FFR as the reference standard.
