Filter by:The unpredictable nature of the attacks is one of the essential characteristics of bradykinin angioedema. The two main difficulties for physicians managing a patient with bradykinin angioedema are to make the diagnosis and anticipate the severity. Biomarkers can be used to diagnose, guide treatment, or predict the severity of a disease. However, the identification of biomarkers is currently difficult in bradykinin both for diagnosis and prognosis. While measurement of C4 and C1 inhibitor (quantitative and functional assays) allows the diagnosis of bradykinin angioedema due to C1 inhibitor deficiency, whether genetic or acquired, many patients with normal C1 inhibitor bradykinin angioedema, either hereditary or acquired, are still difficult to diagnose. For patients with hereditary angioedema with C1-inhibitor deficiency, there is no biomarker currently available to predict the severity. Any biomarker that could improve the diagnosis on the one hand, and improve the prediction of the frequency and severity of the response to treatment on the other hand, would obviously be extremely useful. The aim of our study is to assess the existence possible biomarkers for diagnosis and prognosis of bradykinin angioedema.
This study is about teenagers and adults with hereditary angioedema (HAE) type I and type II. In this study, the burden of illness means the impact of HAE in terms of long-term health outcomes and the financial cost. The main aims of this study are as follows: - to learn how often, how severe and where on the body HAE attacks occur. - to describe how HAE prophylaxis and on-demand medicines are prescribed and used. (Prophylaxis medicines prevent a bleed from happening and on-demand medicines treat a bleed when it occurs.) This study is about collecting data only; participants will not receive treatment as part of this study. Existing data available in the participant's medical records will be collected. Participants will be asked to complete an electronic questionnaire either on a website or by using an app on their mobile phone; data from this questionnaire will also be collected. Participants do not need to visit their doctor in addition to their normal visits.
The main aim of this study is to learn about the safety profile of lanadelumab in teenagers and adults with hereditary angioedema (HAE) in Argentina as part of routine routine practice. This study is about collecting data only. The study sponsor will not be involved in how participants are treated but will provide instructions on how the clinics will record what happens during the study. The study will collect data from the participant's medical records. Participants do not need to visit their doctor in addition to their normal visits.
This is a phase 3b open-label study providing access to berotralstat for HAE patients who were previously enrolled in berotralstat studies.
It is a placebo-controlled randomized trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of GNR-038 in comparison with Berinert® in patients with hereditary angioedema
8 years after the establishment of the therapeutic education program and 14 years after the creation of the National Reference Center for Angioedemas (CREAK), it is necessary to make an inventory in 2021 on the disease experienced by the patient with an assessment the needs and expectations of HAE patients. This assessment would make it possible to see the evolution of these needs and to adjust the price for the overall cost of children and adults in France. It may also allow a comparison of the requests expressed during a similar survey in another French-speaking region such as Quebec. Main objective is to know the needs and the current satisfaction of the needs, with regard to the disease and the treatment of the targeted patients of hereditary angioedema (HAE)
The main aims of this study are to learn how many people with HAE Type I or Type II are attack-free when treated with lanadelumab in real life. This includes the number of people that are attack-free when lanadelumab is given every 2 and every 4 weeks. This study is about collecting existing data only; participants will not receive lanadelumab as part of this study. No new information will be collected during this study. Only data already available at the participant's doctor's office will be reviewed and collected for this study. Participants do not need to visit their doctor in addition to their normal visits.
Angiotensin-Converting-Enzyme-inhibitors-dependent angioedema (ACEi-AE) is the most frequent form of bradykinin-mediated AE, with an estimated prevalence of 0.1% to 0.7%. These AE can be explained by the accumulation of bradykinin (BK), a peptide responsible for increase of vascular permeability: ACE inhibitors block ACE, the main inactivation pathway of the BK, thus extending its half-life. In spite of the the stopping of the drug, systematically performed in the case of ACEi-AE, up to 50% of patients relapsed within 6 months, with maximum risk in the first month after stopping. In addition, the discontinuation of these drugs represents a loss of chance for some patients, without clearly established mastocytic (or histaminic) or bradykinic etiology. At present there is no method to predict the risk of crisis recurrence in patients who have developed AE-IEC. The investigators hypothesize that the risk of relapse is associated with a decrease in the activity of BK degradation enzymes (including aminopeptidase P (APP), dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP4), and ECA) that persists at the cessation of IEC.
This phase 3b study will evaluate long-term safety and efficacy of CSL312 (also known as garadacimab) when administered subcutaneously (SC)
The expanded access program allows people to gain access to an unlicensed treatment on compassionate grounds. Lanadelumab, also known as TAK-743, is a medicine to help prevent hereditary angioedema attacks. Lanadelumab is not yet licensed for use in Japan. The main aim of this study is to allow Japanese teenagers and adults with type I or type II hereditary angioedema to be treated with lanadelumab, through the expanded access program in Japan. Participants can either have taken part in the previous study SHP643-302 or can be new participants. Participants just completing study SHP643-302 who reach the criteria can automatically take part in this study. However, for new participants, the study doctor will check who can take part at the first study visit. For those who can take part, new participants will receive injections of lanadelumab just under the skin. Eventually, after training, some of these will be able to inject themselves with lanadelumab in the same way. Participants who injected themselves with lanadelumab in study SHP643-302 can continue to do so during this study. The study doctors will decide if each participant will be treated with lanadelumab every 2 weeks or every 4 weeks. Treatment with lanadelumab will continue until lanadelumab is commercially available in Japan or the sponsor (Takeda) stops the study. Participants can visit the clinic during treatment if needed. If treatment continues after 6 months, participants will visit the clinic every 12 weeks for a check-up. This will include noting any hereditary angioedema attacks and side effects from the treatment. After 7 months of treatment, the study staff will check-up with each participant every 2 weeks by telephone. After treatment has finished, participants will visit the clinic for a final-check-up 4 weeks later.
