NCT ID: NCT03512938 Completed - Smoking Clinical Trials

Effects of Smoking on Non-surgical Periodontal Therapy in Generalized Aggressive Periodontitis

Start date: June 23, 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Smoking is the major preventable risk factor in the initiation and progression of periodontal diseases. Periodontitis risk was found to be 3.9 times higher among smokers aged between 19-30 years and 2.8 times higher among smokers aged 31-40 years compared to non-smokers. Aggressive periodontitis (AgP), is characterized by a rapid attachment loss usually incompatible with the amount of plaque and dental calculus. It is often not possible to predict the prognosis of treatment with various treatment options in cases of aggressive periodontitis. It was hypothesized that non-smoker patients with generalized aggressive periodontitis (GAgP) will respond better to conventional mechanical non-surgical periodontal therapy compared to the smokers. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of smoking on the outcomes of non-surgical periodontal treatment in terms of the clinical, biochemical and microbiological parameters.

NCT ID: NCT03498482 Completed - Clinical trials for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder

Adressing PTSD Symptoms and Aggressive Behavior in Vulnerable Children in Burundi

Start date: March 15, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Children either living in the streets of Bujumbara or that are similarly affected by extreme poverty or violence are regularly exposed to traumatic events. Additionally, they often find themselves in situations where engaging in violent behavior appears to be useful or even necessary for survival. The Narrative Exposure Therapy for violent offenders (FORNET) aims to reduce both PTSD symptoms and aggressive behavior. It helps the children to anchor fearful experiences and potential positive emotions linked to violent behaviour in the past. Additionally, visions for the future are developed in order to enable reintegration into the family. The investigators want to provide evidence, that FORNET effectively reduces PTSD symptoms and ongoing aggressive behavior which in change facilitates reintegration into society.

NCT ID: NCT03484702 Completed - Clinical trials for Lymphoma, Non-Hodgkin

Trial to Determine the Efficacy and Safety of JCAR017 in Adult Participants With Aggressive B-Cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma

TRANSCENDWORLD
Start date: September 7, 2018
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of JCAR017 in participants with aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (B-NHL)

NCT ID: NCT03412331 Completed - Clinical trials for Generalized Aggressive Periodontitis

Effects Of Adjunctive Photodynamic Therapy To Non-Surgical Periodontal Treatment In Patients With Generalized Aggressive Periodontitis

Start date: January 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Generalized aggressive periodontitis (GAgP) is a distinct type of periodontal disease characterized by rapid loss of attachment and alveolar bone occuring in young individuals. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) was introduced in periodontology as an adjunctive approach to non-surgical periodontal treatment (NPT) in periodontitis patients. In this trial, it was aimed that to evaluate the clinical and microbiological effects of adjunctive PDT to NPT in patients with GAgP. In this prospective controlled clinical study, 24 systemically healthy, non-smoking subjects with GAgP were enrolled. Subjects were randomly assigned to a control group (n=12) treated with NPT only or to a test group (n=12) treated with NPT and PDT. Plaque index, sulcus bleeding index (SBI), pocket depth (PD), relative attachment level, gingival recession, mobility were recorded at baseline and on day 63. Microbiological samples were obtained fom the sites with PD ≥5 mm at the same time points and evaluated for Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans, Porphyromonas gingivalis, Prevotella intermedia, Tannerella forsythia and Treponema denticola using micro-IDent test.

NCT ID: NCT03375671 Completed - Ketamine Clinical Trials

Rapid Agitation Control With Ketamine in the Emergency Department

RACKED
Start date: May 29, 2018
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Compare intramuscular (IM) ketamine to a combination of IM midazolam and haloperidol with regards to the time required for adequate behavioral control, in minutes, in patients presenting to the emergency department with psychomotor agitation and violent behavior.

NCT ID: NCT03225950 Completed - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Interaction Between Immune Cells and Bacteria Associated With Periodontitis

Start date: February 1, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study evaluates the interaction between host immune cells and bacteria associated with periodontitis. It comprises biological material from donors with and without periodontal disease. Specifically, we collect a spit and blood sample to conduct in vitro stimulations and measurements of selected parameters related to periodontitis to clarify obscure areas in the immunologic pathogenesis of this disease.

NCT ID: NCT03212092 Completed - Clinical trials for Intellectual Disability

Reducing Aggression Among People With an Intellectual Disability

PSYVB
Start date: January 15, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The study is an randomised controlled trial (RCT) to test whether supplementation of vitamins, minerals and n-3 fatty acids may reduce aggressive behavior in people with intellectual disabilities.

NCT ID: NCT03161054 Completed - Clinical trials for Aggressive Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma

Metronomic Chemotherapy in Elderly Non-fit Patients With Aggressive B-Cell Lymphomas

Start date: September 12, 2017
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This is a phase II study of metronomic chemotherapy in elderly non-fit patients (>65 years) with aggressive B-Cell lymphomas

NCT ID: NCT03159468 Completed - Heavy Drinking Clinical Trials

Emotion Regulation Interventions for Alcohol-Related Sexual Aggression

Start date: December 31, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Rates of sexual assault are alarmingly high, and alcohol is consistently implicated in the majority of these assaults. Despite well-intentioned prevention efforts, this pandemic continues unabated, warranting the development of novel and innovative approaches to the reduction of sexual aggression. The goal of this research is to evaluate the efficacy of two brief online emotion regulation interventions for reducing alcohol-related sexual aggression in heavy episodic drinking young men with a sexual aggression history. Previous research suggests that emotion regulation difficulties are associated with both alcohol consumption and aggressive behavior. Despite the potential prevention utility of improving sexually aggressive men's emotion regulation skills in order to reduce their alcohol-related sexual aggression, this approach has yet to be explored. Thus, this study evaluates the effects of two brief online ER interventions - cognitive restructuring and mindfulness - on men's emotion regulation during a sexual aggression-related analogue. Additionally, these effects will be evaluated during both sober and intoxicated states through a laboratory- based alcohol administration experiment.
