Filter by:The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate Functional Capacity Evaluations in persons on sick leave or work disability. The main questions it aims to answer are: - What is the impact of FCE on the person on sick leave/work disability (quantitative) - What is the impact of FCE on the decision-making process by the medical advisor? (qualitative) - What is the usability, feasibility and quality of FCE for the medical advisor, occupational therapist, mediators of the regional services, and return-to-work coordinators? (qualitative) This is a randomized controlled trial (RCT). Participants in the control group will receive care-as-usual by the medical advisor. Participants in the intervention group will receive an FCE on top of care-as-usual. This is performed by an occupational therapist in their region, and a report of the FCE is delivered to the medical advisor. Both groups are asked to complete questionnaires at baseline, and after 3,6, and 9 months. Researchers will compare questionnaire results from participants in the control and intervention group, to see if their workability (primary outcome), steps to return to work, expectations to return to work, return to work beliefs, time until (partial) reintegration, self-efficacy in return to work, pain scale, and illness perception (secondary outcomes) are affected differently.
This is a single arm, pre/post intervention study to a larger trial that will examine the effect of health education with comic books and videos on COVID-19 preventive behaviors (masking, social distancing, testing and vaccine uptake). The participants are students, ages 3-5 years old and their parents.
The study has three aims and involves a clustered randomized controlled trial (RCT) where K-5 schools will be the unit of randomization. Aim 1 involves a qualitative assessment of rural Latino community's social, ethical, behavioral needs and resources for students to return to school and maintain onsite learning. Aim 2 includes a clustered RCT in schools. Aim 3 involves qualitative assessment of implementation outcomes of the Yakima School District (YSD) testing program and risk communication intervention with school stakeholders, parents, and children.
As part of their work, emergency first responders, such as paramedics and emergency medical dispatchers are exposed daily to traumatic events. These traumatic events can have many impacts on mental health, such as acute stress disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. Research has shown that intervening early after exposure to a traumatic event helps to identify people at risk and to prevent post-traumatic stress disorder. The Psychological First Aid approach originally developed for mass traumas, is an intervention advocated by international experts today following a traumatic event. However, this approach is still very little studied, especially when it is part of an organization of emergency first responders. It therefore still lacks scientific validity. The main objective of this research will be to assess whether the Psychological First Aid program provided by peer-support workers helps to reduce the initial distress caused by traumatic events and to foster short- and long-term adaptive functioning and coping.
