Performance and Safety Evaluation of Inion CompressOn Screw in Foot and Ankle Surgeries. PMCF Investigation

Start date: September 28, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The study in question is a post market clinical follow up (PMCF) study to evaluate the safety and performance of bioabsorbable headless compression screw Inion CompressOn in selected fracture, osteotomy and arthrodeses operations of the foot and ankle. The study recruits 125 adult patients who meet the acceptance criteria. The follow-up time for each study patient is 4 years. The study is a single center single group study which is conducted in Tampere University Hospital (TAYS) in Finland. The main focus of the study in terms of performance is to evaluate the bone healing/ossification of operated areas. The main focus of the study in terms of safety is to evaluate the occurrence of adverse events and required revision surgeries that are or might be related to the study device.

NCT ID: NCT05553457 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Spinal Cord Injuries

MyHand-SCI: An Active Hand Orthosis for Spinal Cord Injury

Start date: October 4, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to develop and test the hardware and software components of the MyHand-SCI device to assist with hand function for individuals with C6-C7 spinal cord injury.

NCT ID: NCT05552430 Completed - Injuries Clinical Trials

Virtual Reality for Pain in Acute Orthopedic Injuries

Start date: October 17, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this study is to pilot test a skills-based virtual reality (VR) for acute orthopedic injury. It will measure the feasibility, signals of improvement, exploratory pain mechanisms, and user experience of an established skills-based program (RelieveVRx) for acute orthopedic injury.

NCT ID: NCT05552235 Recruiting - Epicondylitis Clinical Trials

Assessment of the Safety and Performance of an Elbow Brace in the Prevention of Injuries During Sports Practice

Start date: November 15, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Decathlon has developed the Elbow soft300 which is a medical device that must be positioned around the elbow to keep a physical activity on a regular basis in case of chronic epicondylitis, pain associated with tendonitis or chronic instability. The objective of this multicentre study is to collect data on the related clinical complications and clinical outcomes of market-approved Decathlon Elbow soft 300 product to demonstrate safety and performance of this device in a real-world setting. Outcome data collected from this study will provide the basis for Post-Market Surveillance (PMS) reporting, Clinical Study Report (CSR), Clinical Evaluation Report (CER) on Decathlon ElbowSoft300 device and support peer-reviewed publications on products performance and safety.

NCT ID: NCT05551871 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Traumatic Brain Injury

Effects of Usage of Simvastatin in Mild to Moderate Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Patients. Could it Make a Difference?

Start date: October 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a common cause of long-term neurological morbidity, with devastating personal and societal consequences. At present, no pharmacological intervention clearly improves outcomes, and therefore a compelling unmet clinical need remains. 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase inhibitors, or "statins," offer a potential novel therapeutic strategy for TBI. In this study the investigators will study primarily the effect of statins on 30-day mortality rate which is defined as death within 30 days of TBI presentation where the occurrence of TBI is hour 0 or day 0 and secondarily evaluation of duration of ICU stay associated with or without complications.

NCT ID: NCT05549986 Completed - Trauma Clinical Trials

Discriminant Ability of the Shock Index, Modified Shock Index, and Reverse Shock Index Multiplied by the Glasgow Coma Scale on Mortality in Adult Trauma Patients: A PATOS Study

Start date: January 1, 2016
Phase:
Study type: Observational

We evaluated a cohort of adult trauma patients transported to emergency departments. The first vital signs were used to calculate the SI, MSI, and rSIG. The areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves (AUROCs) and test results were used to compare the discriminant performance of the indices on short-term mortality and poor functional outcome. A subgroup analysis of geriatric patients, traumatic brain injury, penetrating injury, and non-penetrating injury was performed.

NCT ID: NCT05549830 Not yet recruiting - Injuries Clinical Trials

Effect of Different Positioning Before, During and After Surgery on Pressure Injury

Start date: October 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Background: Patients undergoing surgery are at risk of developing pressure injuries since they remain in a fixed position on the operating table under anesthesia for a long time. In the management of surgical patients, the prevention of surgical pressure injuries is the best strategy, requiring effective risk assessment and timely implementation of preventive interventions. Aim: To evaluate the effect of preoperative and postoperative patient repositioning other than intraoperative positions on the development of pressure injuries. H1 Hypothesis: In the preoperative and postoperative periods, there is a significant difference in the development of pressure injuries between patients who have been repositioned using non-surgical positions compared to those that did not undergo this intervention. Methods: This study has been designed as a prospective randomized controlled trial. Patients meeting the inclusion criteria of the trial will be allocated to the intervention and control groups using a random number generator. The participants to be assigned to the intervention group will be placed in different positions other than their surgical positions on the night before surgery and until the first 36 hours after the operation, while the control group will only receive routine care. The groups will be evaluated in terms of pressure injury development for at least 72 hours until the end of the postoperative sixth day or discharge from the hospital.

Personalized Nutrition Delivery to Improve Resilience in Older Adult Trauma Patients

SeND Home
Start date: January 5, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a Pilot study designed to set up for an randomized clinical trial (RCT) comparing the SeND Home pathway to a standard of care nutrition delivery in critically ill older adult trauma patients. Subjects will be randomized 3:1 to either SeND Home precision nutrition pathway or control arm. Subjects randomized to the SeND Home arm will receive oral nutrition supplements (ONS) up to 3 times per day while in the hospital and for 4 weeks after discharge. Subjects in the standard of care arm will receive normal nutrition recommendations from their clinical providers. Participants in both groups will undergo non-invasive tests that measure how much energy (calories) they are using, body composition, and muscle mass.
