Filter by:Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a frequent and disabling injury in athletes. Most of the time, ACL reconstruction (ACLR) is consider for regaining function and returning to preinjury sports while reducing the risk of secondary injuries. However, the risk of secondary severe knee injury is increased after ACLR, especially in athletes returning to strenuous activities. If strength symmetry is considered as an important factor in the Return-to-sport (RTS) decision, there is conflicting data about the association between strength symmetry and the risk of second knee injury after ACLR. The main objective of this study was to test if knee muscles strength symmetry at 4 months was associated with the psychological readiness and incidence of subsequent severe injury of both knees at a minimum 2 years follow-up after ACL-R.

This study aims to examine the value of nebulized heparin for prevention of acute lung injury in adult patients suffering smoke inhalation injury. Patients will be randomized to receive nebulized heparin or an equal volume of normal saline for 14 days and the incidence of acute lung injury will be compared in either group.

The aim of this study was to investigate the validity and reliability of the Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia (TSK) in patients with traumatic hand and forearm injuries. A total of 170 patients with traumatic hand-forearm injuries with a mean age of 37.57±11.85 (18-63) years were included in the study. TSK, Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS) and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) were applied to the patients in the first session. Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia was re-administered 15 days after the first session. Test-retest reliability, internal consistency, and construct validity of the TSK were evaluated. In addition, exploratory factor analysis was applied.
In the case of spinal cord injury, patients have shown a passive attitude towards participating in leisure sports or exercise programs, and there is a lack of suitable guidelines or experience in the local community for coaching exercise and sports for spinal cord injury patients, which makes coaches feel burdened when coaching these patients. Therefore, in this study, a suitable comprehensive exercise program will be designed and prescribed for patients who reside in the local community and want to participate in leisure sports, and the effectiveness and safety of the program will be verified. Based on the results, the aim of the study is to provide evidence that spinal cord injury patients can exercise safely and confidently in the local community in the future.
LASER therapy is potent physiotherapy modalities, providing better sternotomy healing for patients who have undergone CABG surgery, compared with traditional wound care management alone. HLLT and LLLT were found to be the most effective methods for sternotomy healing post-CABG surgery, with HLLT offering superior performance in the case of the high deep penetration and significance less time needed to deliver the same joules/ cm compared to LLLT used for the wound site.

The aim of this clinical study is to show the effects of childhood traumas on emotional intelligence levels and personality beliefs in university students. The key questions it aims to answer are: Do childhood traumas have an effect on emotional intelligence levels? Do childhood traumas have an effect on personality beliefs? Do emotional intelligence levels have an effect on personality beliefs? A socio-demographic data form, childhood trauma scale, Bar-On emotional intelligence scale and personality beliefs scale will be administered to the participants. Researchers will compare Group 1 of those with childhood trauma to Group 2 of those without childhood trauma to see the impact of childhood trauma.
Compared to U.S. urban counterparts, rural residents face major barriers to using health care services. Challenges include shortages of services, long distances to existing services, and stigma regarding mental illness in isolated communities. These difficulties hold true for Montana, but especially for adolescents. The objective of A Trauma-Informed Intervention for Positive Youth Development and Teacher Wellness in Rural Montana is to improve stress-related mental and physical health outcomes for adolescents and educators in rural Montana through school-based, trauma-informed yoga exercises. This project builds on investigators' previous research (including a two-year CAIRHE pilot study, 2019-21) to promote positive youth development by simultaneously intervening with students and teachers with a trauma-informed yoga intervention. Geographic isolation and resulting lack of resources for many Montanan schools indicates a need for novel, school-centered interventions to address the needs of rural adolescents; yoga can benefit youth and teacher wellbeing.
