Cervical Cancer Screening : Video Based Tutorials for ANMs/ASHAs/PHWs

This study aims at creating video-based tutorials for developing skills in performing cervical cancer screening using VIA for the Auxillary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and Primary Health Workers (PHWs). Cervical cancer screening is mainly done by the following three methods: Visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA), Cervical Smear Cytology (PAP) and HPV DNA test. VIA is a low cost, low resource cervical cancer screening method and especially useful for low middle income countries (LMICs) like India. We propose to develop video-based tutorials, such that the ANMs/ASHAs/PHWs could be trained in performing and interpreting VIA with the use of this tutorial. The ANMs/ASHAs/PHWs have important roles in delivering health in rural/ semi urban areas and they will be trained using this tutorial. The video-based tutorials will be made according to the 'Spoken Tutorials' methodology, developed at IIT Bombay. Video-based Tutorials has given skills based training to over 2 lakh students in the past four years on IT based topics. The tutorials are made available online free of cost. They are designed to be used without the need of an expert being physically present.

Omega-3 Supplementation in Cervix Cancer Patients Undergoing Chemoradiotherapy

Cancer cachexia is a complex metabolic process affecting up to 80% of patients suffering from an advanced-stage cancer. Moreover, 20 to 40% of all cancer deaths are caused directly by cachexia. Recently, omega-3 fatty acids have gained interest for their beneficial effects in cancer cachexia. Moreover, nutritional supplementation enriched with omega-3 could potentially maintain body weight in cancer patients undergoing intensive treatment. The investigators aims in this study is to evaluate the effect of omega-3 supplementation on body composition, functional capacity, inflammatory profile and quality of life in cervix cancer patients undergoing chemoradiotherapy.

A Non-Invasive Cervical Cancer Screening Modality: A Pilot Study

Cervix cancer is a major global health concern. A way to screen and immediately treat precancerous lesions (Screen-and-Treat) is greatly needed. Developed by MobileOCT, polarized difference imaging and conventional imaging are used to identify suspicious lesions. We aim to compare this non-invasive method with colposcopy. Patients at the Dickens Clinic will have 3-5 minutes of non-invasive imaging before colposcopy. Pathology will be compared both to colposcopy impression versus MobileOCT.

Participation in Screening for Cervical Cancer: Interest of a Self-sampling Device Provided by the General Practitioner

This study evaluates the benefit in women aged from 30 to 65 years, who do not participate to the French opportunistic cervical cancer screening program, of an organized screening with the proposition by the family physician of a pap-test (usual care) versus a self-collected vaginal sample (and a HPV-test). 24 family physicians will participate and will be randomized in the usual care arm (12) or in the self-sampling arm (12). Our hypothesis is that organizing the screening for these women involving their family physician will major participation, and that the self-sampling option will amplify this increase.

Pilot Study of Durvalumab and Vigil in Advanced Women's Cancers

In this study, the researchers want to learn more about Vigil and durvalumab in advanced women's cancers: 1) how much of Vigil in combination with durvalumab (MEDI4736) can be given with an acceptable level of side effects, 2) the effects of Vigil and durvalumab in combination (good and bad), 3) if Vigil will cause changes in cancer cells that may help durvalumab attack the cancer, and 4) whether or not Vigil and durvalumab will slow your cancer or stop your cancer from getting worse. Combining Vigil with durvalumab will allow the former to induce (or increase) the infiltration of activated T cells into tumors, and in addition, to enhance PD-L1 (programmed cell death ligand 1) expression. Consequently, the response rate of historically low or un-responsive cancer will be increased with the combination of Vigil and anti PD-L1.

Low-Cost Imaging for Cervical Cancer Prevention in the Texas Lower Rio Grande Valley

The purpose of this study is to evaluate a different type of medical equipment called "High-Resolution Microendoscope" (HRME) for the diagnosis of cervical pre-cancerous lesions and cervical cancer. The investigators want to compare patients' clinical findings using the current equipment used in clinic with the clinical findings using new equipment we are testing on this research project. If the new equipment is proven to give comparable findings with current equipment being used, doctors might be able to offer a diagnosis and treat cervical lesions in one visit. It might not be necessary to wait for cervical biopsies to come back before women would receive the indicated treatment. Study subjects are being asked to participate because they have been diagnosed with an abnormal Papanicolaou (Pap) PAP smear, positive human papillomavirus (HPV) test or history of cervical dysplasia and need to have a colposcopic examination to determine the reason for abnormal results and receive treatment.
