Filter by:The goal of the overall CASUS project is to develop the first fully molecular integrated cervical cancer screening approach, based on first-void urine as an easily accessible and non-invasive source of biomarkers. In contrast to current screening modalities, the CASUS approach will identify women with clinically relevant disease in need of treatment using only a single sample that can be collected at home (one-step triage).
Problem Description When cervical cancer screening is needed, the Pap test (or Pap smears) is still the most common, although there are challenges that continue to prevent effective screening services in many countries, poor quality testing, long delays until screening is available, they give the results to women, poor population coverage and insufficient follow-up treatment. HPV testing can remove barriers related to access to screening services, since the woman can obtain the sample herself. Women's self-sampling for HPV testing has been used in a programmatic context in some countries. For a good impact, screening coverage must reach at least 70% of the target population. In the Region of the Americas, only seven countries have reported this level of coverage, so there is a great need for improvement. Several factors make it difficult to improve coverage: most screening programs are unorganized, available mainly in urban areas, and based on the Pap test, which has been shown to have low sensitivity, limited and requires multiple consultations. However, screening alone is not enough to prevent cervical cancer. Follow-up treatment of women with abnormal screening test results is necessary and remains a challenge. Main objective To evaluate the effectiveness of cervicovaginal self-test in comparison with direct sampling by the service provider, for the identification of HR-HPV DNA via real-time PCTR and triage with dual staining biomarker p16 & ki67. Methodology Under inclusion and exclusion criteria and signed informed consent, cervical sample will be taken with the corresponding method according to the randomization (self-test or service provider) and certify that the device did not cause damage or lacerations in the vaginal canal. In addition, an acceptability survey will be completed. All women with positive p16 & ki67 will be referred for colposcopy and biopsy. Patients will be informed her results with a specialist physician for guidance and indications. Clinical study design is crossover, monocentric, randomized, open, and non-inferiority. Statistical differences between self-test and service rpovider will be assesed.
Cervical cancer is one of the major health problems for chinese women. Besides surgery and radiotherapy, neoadjuvant chemotherapy has been proved to be an effective program by many studies. However, not all patients respond well to neoadjuvant chemotherapy. This is an open-label, single-arm, multi-center clinical trial to evaluate whether PD-1 in combination with neoadjuvant chemotherapy will achieve better objective response rate.
This is a research study using Granulocyte Colony Stimulating Factor (GCSF) as a bone marrow stimulating agent for imaging to guide radiation treatment planning. G-CSF is a type of growth factor. Growth factors are proteins made in the body. G-CSF is a type of growth factor that makes the bone marrow produce white blood cells to reduce the risk of infection after some types of cancer treatment.
Patients with endometrial cancer who will be undergoing surgery or patients with cervical cancer who will be treated with chemoradiation will be randomized to utilize the Headspace smartphone application or not prior to their anticipated treatment.
This is a single center phase 1 trail to observe safety and efficacy of metronomic capecitabine plus PD-L1 antibody camrelizumab as third-line regimen to treat HER2 negative advanced gastric cancer patients. This study is one of the cohorts of a multi-cohort trial called Combination of Metronomic capecitabine with Camrelizumab for treatment of refractory solid tumor (McCrest) trial.
Objective: It is recommended to heat and humidify CO2 in laparoscopic surgery to prevent postoperative pain and hypothermia but information about its effects on hemodynamic and respiratory parameters is limited. The investigators aimed to investigate the effects of standard and heated-humidified CO2 on hemodynamic and respiratory parameters. Study design: One hundred patients who underwent laparoscopic hysterectomy for benign pathology were divided into two groups: Group CD (cold-dry) patients were administered standard CO2, while Group HH (heated-humidified) patients were administered 95% humidified insufflation at 37°C. Hemodynamic and respiratory parameters, body temperature, pain score and blood count parameters were recorded.
This planned randomized controlled trial will evaluate a bivalent HPV vaccine, Cecolin®, in alternate 2-dose regimens, compared to an established HPV vaccine. Gardasil® used as the comparator vaccine, as this vaccine is most widely used in low- and low-middle income countries.
This study examines at-home monitoring of patient-generated phsyiologic health data and patient-reported outcomes. Patient-generated health data using at-home monitoring devices and smart device applications are used more and more to measure value and quality in cancer care. This trial may show whether at-home monitoring programs can improve the care of patients after hospital discharge from surgery.
In this study, a new, low cost packing system ("BrachyGel VHPS") is being tested as a packing option during brachytherapy along with standard options to make sure that it keeps the unrelated organs away from radiation at least as well as the standard options, and to better understand the safety and patient discomfort associated with BrachyGel VHPS and the standard packing options.
