Filter by:This phase I clinical study was designed to evaluate the safety of novel recombinant HPV 16/18 bivalent vaccine, manufactured by Xiamen Innovax Biotech CO., LTD., in healthy women 18-55 years of age at enrolment. Approximately 30 study subjects will receive the novel HPV vaccine administered intramuscularly according to a 0-1-6 month schedule.
Cervical Cancer is staged clinically, not surgically. Patients in whom an extensive disease is identified are not usually eligible for surgery. PET-CT is used to support staging. However, some patients received surgery after staging and subsequently require radio/chemotherapy due to findings on operation. This study will attempt to find a correlation between SUV-Max on PET-CT and subsequent outcomes i.e. need for adjuvant therapy.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether laparoscopic radical hysterectomy for early cervical cancer will has decreased postoperative pain intensity compared to abdominal radical hysterectomy with similar postoperative complications and survival rates.
In the United States, Black women are more likely to die of cervical cancer than White women. In developing countries and globally, Haitian immigrant women are more likely to die of cervical cancer than any other women in the world. Studies have shown a disparity in parental acceptance of the HPV vaccine with parents of Black adolescent girls being less likely to accept and comply with HPV immunization schedules than Whites. The objective of this study is to increase HPV immunization rates in Haitian and African American adolescent girls. The investigator's hypothesis is that a validated behavior change mechanism, brief-negotiating interviewing (BNI), will effectively increase the proportion of mothers who give consent for their daughters' HPV vaccine, which will ultimately lead to higher vaccination rates, and increase knowledge of HPV infection and the vaccine in Haitian immigrant and African American mothers.
The purpose of this study is to compare perioperative morbidity of coelioscopy versus robot-assisted coelioscopy in cervical cancer, uterus cancer and ovarian cancer.
This study will provide data on the performance of the BD SurePath Plus™ Pap test for identifying high grade cervical disease. This study will be conducted with approximately 12,500 women undergoing routine cervical cancer screening, of whom women with abnormal cytology and/or positive HPV test will be selected to undergo colposcopy and biopsy/ECC. Subjects with abnormal cytology results with biopsy results of less than or equal to CIN1 or CIN2 untreated will be asked to return in 6-8 months for follow-up testing. Subjects may be asked to proceed to a longer-term follow-up study and undergo cytological evaluation annually for 3 years (separate study).
Background: - Low-cost molecular human papillomavirus (HPV) testing may offer a more robust alternative to Pap smears and visual inspection for cervical cancer screening of underserved women. Two low-cost molecular tests for human HPV, the HPV E6 Test and the careHPV test, have been developed to detect cervical cancer by testing for HPV DNA. These tests take between 2 and 3 hours to run and may provide point-of-care (diagnostic testing at or near the site of patient care) testing for HPV. Researchers are interested in evaluating both tests to determine the best strategy for HPV testing of women who live in rural or underserved areas that have a high prevalence of cervical cancer diagnoses. Objectives: - To evaluate the clinical performance of the HPV E6 Test and careHPV in detecting cervical cancer and precancerous lesions. - To evaluate the best low-cost test or combination of tests for women who have been referred for cervical cancer screening or treatment. - To compare the clinical performance of self-collected specimens versus clinician-collected specimens in detecting cervical cancer and precancerous lesions. Eligibility: - Women between 25 and 65 years of age who live in rural China. Design: - This study involves an initial testing visit and a 1-year followup visit for a high-risk subgroup. - Participants will have the HPV E6 test, careHPV, and a visual inspection test for cervical cancer. For comparison, participants will also have the standard HPV test approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. - Participants who test positive for HPV on any of the above tests will also have colposcopy to collect samples of cervical tissue for further study. - A random sample of women who test negative for HPV will also have colposcopy. Participants may also have biopsies if there is visual evidence of cervical abnormalities. - At the 1-year followup visit, participants in the high-risk subgroup will have the same tests as in the previous visit..
This will be the first study to assess the clinical feasibility of dose escalation with simultaneous integrated boost intensity-modulated radiotherapy for patients with locally advanced cervical cancer. Following screening to confirm eligibility patients will commence a six week treatment period. After this, patients will be followed up by visits to clinic every 3 months for a period of 24 months (2 years). End of study is defined as 24 months after treatment. Patients will be followed up for a minimum of 5 years (as per local policy) after treatment.
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as carboplatin and paclitaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Cediranib maleate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor. It is not yet known whether carboplatin and paclitaxel are more effective when given with or without cediranib maleate in treating patients with cervical cancer that cannot be removed by surgery. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying giving carboplatin and paclitaxel together with cediranib maleate to see how well it works compared with giving carboplatin and paclitaxel together with a placebo in treating patients with metastatic or recurrent cervical cancer that cannot be removed by surgery.
Uterine cervical cancer is the second most common female malignancy. Therapy monitoring is essential to detect early recurrence. Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging is an emerging MRI imaging technique which has a potential value for the detection of primary and recurrent disease and for the assessment of response to therapy. The purpose of this project is to evaluate the predictive value of DWI during and after therapy in the prediction of recurrence of cervical uterine cancer. It will be considered whether DWI is able to provide early information about the response to therapy. This could enable the identification of less- or non-responsive tumors and in this way therapy can be adapted as soon as possible. Hence the investigators could offer the patient a more efficient treatment scheme and a reduction in toxicity related to the treatment could be established.
