Children aged up to 18 years with moderately active Ulcerative Colitis (PUCAI:35-64) will receive one weekly Adacolumn® apheresis treatment over 5 consecutive weeks, followed by up to 3 optional Adacolumn® apheresis treatments over 3 consecutive weeks. Primary end point is PUCAI at Week 12. The main part of the clinical investigation will be continued by a one year follow up for responders.

Gastroduodenal ulcers are extremely common in the community today. Though much has been written and observed concerning how ulcers form, not much has been described in the human model concerning how these ulcers heal. As numerous patients already suffer from gastrointestinal ulcers, further clarification of ulcer healing would be valuable in the treatment and management of these patients. The goal of this study is to investigate the effects of naproxen, aspirin, celecoxib, and clopidogrel on biopsy-induced gastroduodenal lesions in order to elucidate the mechanisms of ulcer healing. This single site, single-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, one-week prospective study will examine ulcer healing through endoscopic, immunohistologic, and molecular PCR modalities.

This pilot study will compare the incidence of pressure ulcers and the change in existing pressure ulcers for patients who are either placed on the new TC500 bed against those placed on the standard ICU bed in the Cardiovascular unit of University of Nebraska Medical Center. Additionally, the cost associated with rental beds will be calculated as well as skin care compliance. Sixty patients will be enrolled (30 per study arm).

Evaluation of the Effect of Vivostat Platelet Rich Fibrin(PRF) in the Treatment of Diabetic Foot Ulcers

Diabetic foot ulcers are a challenge to health care professionals because there are only few effective topical therapeutic interventions. Growth factor treatment has shown to be beneficial for healing of diabetic foot ulcers in conjunction with extensive surgical debridement. Autologues platelet releasate which contains platelet derived growth factor appears to be more effective than standard therapy in case studies. This protocol will evaluate the healing effect of Vivostat PRF treatment of non-eschemic foot ulcers to identify responders and to enable sample size calculation for a subsequent pivotal trial.
