Filter by:Bacterial load is frequently associated with impaired healing of chronic wounds. As well, sharp debridement is often associated with pain, causing patient distress, and thereby occasionally contributing to inadequacy of debridement, leading to a delay in wound healing. The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy of the Sciton Laser in reducing bacterial load and patient distress in patients with chronic wounds, in efforts to expedite the wound healing process.
It is planned to enroll 80 UC patients who will require optimization of golimumab after secondary LOR. The review of the study protocol and its approval by an Independent Ethics Committee of the University of Saint Etienne are pending. All patients enrolled will give their written informed consent before being included. This study will be conducted in accordance with the ethical principles that have their origins in the Declaration of Helsinki, in compliance with the approved protocol, good clinical practice and applicable regulatory requirements. Patients will visit the investigator from screening visit to visit 6 at W-1, W0, W2, W4, W8, and at the end of the follow-up at wk 24. During their participation, patients will record clinical parameters required to calculate the partial Mayo score reported over 3 days prior to the visit and endoscopy at W0, W2 (optional) , W4, W8 (optional) and at the end of the follow-up to calculate total Mayo score.
Establishing that mucosal healing (MH) has occurred after therapy is an important treatment goal, and the gold standard is endoscopic evaluation. In UC it is unclear if clinical parameters are adequate. The pediatric ulcerative colitis activity index (PUCAI) has demonstrated good correlations for clinical remission and disease severity, but its role for establishing mucosal healing after therapy has not been validated . The ability to predict mucosal healing may be different for patients in long term remission compared to assessment after obtaining clinical remission. No previous study has prospectively validated the use of PUCAI as a proxy for MH specifically during clinical remission after therapy.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate efficacy of cobitolimod treatment at different dose levels and frequencies compared to placebo in patients with moderate to severe left-sided ulcerative colitis.
Oral Ulcers have serious effect on patients' lives. Due to absence of any information about its prevalence, risk factors and effect on patients' lives, this study has been held. The investigators recruited patients from the outpatient dental clinic of the faculty of oral and dental medicine, Cairo University, screened them clinically for oral ulcers. All patients filled questionnaires about the risk factors of oral ulcers. Furthermore, oral ulcer patients filled questionnaires about their Quality of life, previous treatments used, previous physicians visited and their Quality of life after using previous treatments.
Determining the efficacy of low dose of PPI in management acute peptic ulcer bleeding
Non-variceal acute gastrointestinal bleeding is a common and potentially life-threatening problem. The conventional treatment of this condition is for esophagogastroduodenoscopy (OGD) for haemostasis. Treatment methods include heater probe, clipping and injection of adrenaline. Recently, a new device called the Over-the-scope clip (OTSC) has been device to treat perforations and bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, the aim of the study is to compare between the treatment outcomes between OTSC and conventional endoscopic haemostatic methods in ulcers that are of high risk for rebleeding.
This study will gather preliminary clinical, health economic, and safety data on the treatment of chronic wounds with the ALLEVYN Life Non-Bordered dressing compared to standard of care treatment when used on a wound.
The primary objective is to obtain stool samples from subjects diagnosed with , and displaying signs and/or symptoms of IBD and/or IBS will be evaluated in this study. Eligible subjects require a diagnostic colonoscopy with possible biopsy and clinical evaluation.
This retrospective multi-centric Belgian observational trial will involve all patients who have initiated adalimumab for moderate-to-severe ulcerative colitis prior to September 1st 2015 in a Belgian centre maintaining a prospective log of patients using biological therapy. Only patients fulfilling all Belgian reimbursement criteria for adalimumab will be included, namely having failed mesalamine and steroids or thiopurine analogues for at least 3 months, or being intolerant to this therapy, and showing a total Mayo score of at least 6 with an endoscopic sub-score of at least 2. Both short-term and long-term outcome of adalimumab therapy will be evaluated, focusing on the need and successfulness of adalimumab dose-escalation from 40mg every other week to 40mg every week, and dose de-escalation back to 40mg every other week.
