Filter by:The investigators developed an on-line learning tool "MyFIT" enabling to patients with T1D to acquire the knowledge and skills for practicing functional insulin therapy from their home. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the acceptability of this new learning modality via the tool "MyFIT" by the patients and by the health professionnals.
The study will follow participants for the periods of 3 months while using an advanced hybrid closed loop algorithm in free living conditions . Each period will have a different meal handling protocols. The objective is to identify the mitigation of the algorithm with different meal handling approaches.
Physical activity, along with proper nutrition, is the basis for the behavioral treatment of diabetes. In recent years exercise training in normobaric hypoxia is used in training programs for athletes and in rehabilitation. The aim of this study is the assessment of physical exercise in normobaric hypoxia condition on metabolic control of diabetes: blood glucose profile, its stability, HbA1c value, hypoglycemia: frequency, level, severity and time of occurrence, insulin demand, maximal muscle strength level, VO2max and anthropometric parameters.
The study will compare the postprandial responses to a test meal between subjects with type 1 diabetes and healthy control subjects, in terms of gut hormone levels, meal induced thermogenesis, hunger and satiety perception, as well as futher metabolic parameters.
Given the current situation with COVID-19 declared pandemic on March 11, 2020 and the requirement for physical distancing and to limit social interactions, and for some, to quarantine, the investigators will survey patients living with type 1 diabetes (and their families, if they are <18 years) about their current experience with their diabetes management to understand their needs. The primary objective is to describe the exposition and the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on type 1 diabetes. The investigators will recruit people with type 1 diabetes from all ages living in Quebec to answer a short online survey.
To compare different timing of insulin Glargine administration (early-6 pm versus standard bedtime-10 pm) as part of standard of care in patients with type1 diabetes who wish to fast the month of Ramadan.

This study aims to determine whether Lactiplantibacillus plantarum 299v (Lp299v) supplementation will reduce systemic inflammation and prolong residual beta cell function in individuals newly diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. The purpose of this research study is to find out how bones are affected in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes (T1D) as compared to children and adolescents without type 1 diabetes.
Eighteen preschool aged children and their families will attend structured, multidisciplinary, family-centered intensive education sessions over a 3-day weekend in a residential camp setting to address the unique challenges of managing type 1 diabetes mellitus in young children.
