Filter by:Introduction - Incidence of thyroid cancer has increased considerably in France in recent years, but the mortality rate has declined only slightly. Part of this increased incidence could be attributable to overdiagnosis. We aimed to estimate the contribution of overdiagnosis to the incidence of papillary thyroid cancer. Material and methods. - Incidence rates were calculated based on data from the specialised Marnes-Ardennes thyroid cancer registry, for cancers diagnosed between 1975 and 2014, by age category and by five-year period. The population was divided into two groups according to pTNM classification at diagnosis (i.e. localised or invasive). Overdiagnosis was defined as the difference in incidence rates between the invasive cancer and localised cancer groups. This rate was then divided by the incidence rate in the localised cancer group for the most recent period (2010-2014) to obtain the proportion of cancers attributable to overdiagnosis.
Acne is a chronic inflammatory disease of the pilo-sebaceous unit with a multi-factorial etiology. It is one of the most frequent cutaneous diseases, affecting more than eighty percent of the population at some point in their lives . Endocrine factors especially androgens and steroids are one of multiple factors provoked to be involved in pathogenesis of acne . Thyroid hormones have steroid like action that have many regulatory functions in many body organ functions including skin and pilosebaceous unit. Furthermore, subtle thyroid dysfunction was shown to have a role in many disease conditions. Thyroid hormone action on sebaceous glands is unclear. In hypothyroid states, sebocytes exhibit reduced rates of secretion that increases with thyroxine administration .
This is a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 3 study to compare the progression free survival, overall response rate (ORR) and safety of participants treated with Donafenib 0.3g Bid by continuous oral dosing versus placebo.
The purpose of this study is to determine the extent to which severe burn injuries affect the morphology and function of liver, pancreas and thyroid. The evaluation of the liver will be performed non-invasively with liver fibrosis scores based on standard blood parameters and the measurement of liver stiffness (correlated with liver fibrosis) and controlled attenuation parameter (CAP, correlated with hepatic steatosis) via transient elastography (FibroScan©, Echosens SA, Paris, France). The thyroid and the pancreas will be assessed via ultrasound (GE Medical Systems, Waukesha, USA) and standard blood parameters, respectively.
Performing a phenome-wide association study (PheWAS) identifying clinical diagnoses associated with a polygenic predictor of Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) levels identified by a previously published genome-wide association study (GWAS). PheWAS will be applied in an electronic-health-record (EHR) cohort including North American (n: 37,154) and European participants using 1,318 phenotypes.
Patients in our department endoscopic thyroidectomy were randomly divided into high position and low position established operating space group established operating space group. The thyroid size, patient BMI, operation time, and intraoperative blood loss were compared between the two groups.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety of lenvatinib in participants with recurrent, metastatic radio-iodine refractory differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC).
Prospective randomized open phase III non-inferiority trial in cT1bT2N0 papillary thyroid carcinoma comparing: total thyroidectomy alone (experimental group) versus total thyroidectomy + Prophylactic Neck Dissection PND (reference group). Pre-registered patients will be randomized before surgery for tumors with class-6 cytology (Bethesda) or in the operating room after confirmation of malignancy by frozen section analysis for tumors with class-5 cytology.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether the recent excipient modification of Levothyrox® in France for a bioequivalent formula has clinical and biological consequence for the patients. The investigators also plan to describe the patient journey in terms of levothyroxine based drugs since this formula modification of Levothyrox®.
To detect any changes in Quality of Life in patients with benign thyroid diseases who undergo thyroidectomy compared to patients with benign thyroid diseases and conservative treatment and healthy subjects.
