Filter by:The goal of this clinical research study is to learn if CC-4047 (now called pomalidomide) and prednisone can help to control MMM. The safety of this therapy will also be studied.
This study seeks to (i) determine a safe and tolerated dose of CYT387 (momelotinib) given to patients with PMF, post-PV or post-ET and, (ii) assess the effectiveness of orally-administered CYT387 as a treatment for PMF, post-PV or post-ET.
Chemotherapy Induced Thrombocytopenia is a common side-effect of bone marrow suppression as a result of a chemotherapy treatment. AS101 is a tellurium based small compound with immunomodulating characteristics which attributed to the direct inhibition of the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10. AS101 was previously shown to induce a significant reduction in thrombocytopenia that accompany cancer therapy with no major toxicity . This phase II randomized open study will evaluate the efficacy of AS101 for the treatment of chemotherapy induced thrombocytopenia in patients with various solid tumors.
The research involves the establishment of a cohort including as much as possible cases of macrothrombocytopenia related to a "MYH9 syndrome" and the study of mutations and polymorphisms of MYH9 gene in all these patients. As MYH9 syndrome is an autosomal dominant disorder, patients should be heterozygous for a MYH9 gene mutation. The main goal of our project is looking for correlations between genotype and phenotype. It is planned to characterize the phenotype and genotype of a cohort of patients, including family members that will be addressed during the study in order to better understand the platelet disorder and improve the epidemiological knowledge of MYH9 syndrome. The data will be recorded in a database.
This study is being conducted to test study drug AZD1480 to see how it may work to treat myeloproliferative diseases. The main purpose of this study is to determine the safety and tolerability of AZD1480. This is the first time the drug has been given to humans and is classed as a first time in man study. Its main purpose is to establish a safe dosage of the drug and provide additional information on any potential side effects this drug may cause. The study will also assess the blood levels and action of AZD1480 in the body over a period of time and will indicate whether the drug has a therapeutic effect on myeloproliferative diseases.
Patients who undergo total body irradiation (TBI) for stem cell transplantation have prolonged periods of low counts of specific blood cells called platelets. These low platelets counts can cause bleeding and infection. Thus far, no drug is available for use to speed the recovery of platelets, and therefore transfusions are often necessary. The purpose of this study is to test the safety of a drug called eltrombopag in patients who have received TBI. The investigators want to find out what effects, good or bad, it has on people with low platelet counts due to treatment with TBI. The investigators will also be testing how well eltrombopag may work at different doses and determine if this drug speeds up the recovery of the platelets.
This phase I trial studies the side effects and the best dose of sunitinib malate in treating human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive patients with cancer receiving antiretroviral therapy. Sunitinib malate may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor.
This is an open-label study in which oprelvekin will be administered for the prevention of severe low blood platelet cell counts (cells in your blood that keep bleeding and clotting stable) in adults with cancer who are taking chemotherapy (anti-cancer drug) that has a side effect of blocking your bone marrow from making platelet cells. The purpose of this study is to learn more about the effects of the recommended dose of oprelvekin on the heart's electrical cycle.
The aim of this study is to show the benefits for patients, with a high platelet count, iron deficiency and IBD, receiving intravenous iron therapy.
The aim of the present study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of MK-0683 in the treatment of PV and ET. This agent has most recently been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the autonomous proliferation of haematopoietic cells of PV and ET patients carrying the JAK2 V617F mutation. Accordingly, it may be anticipated that MK-0683 - by decreasing the JAK2 allele burden - may influence clonal myeloproliferation and in vivo granulocyte, platelet and endothelial activation , which are considered to be major determinants of morbidity and mortality ( thrombosis, bleeding, extramedullary haematopoiesis , myelofibrosis ) in these disorders. The effects of MK-0683 at the molecular level will be studied by global/ focused gene expression profiling, epigenome profiling and proteomics.
