Filter by:This will be a single-center, prospective observational study. The study will compare post- operative pain scores and narcotic consumption between two groups of patients - one cohort will receive ibuprofen (Motrin) and Percocet (to be used as needed) while the other cohort will receive only Percocet. Both pain management options are considered to be standard of care.
The objective of this retrospective/prospective enrollment and prospective follow-up consecutive series PMCF study is to collect data confirming safety, performance and clinical benefits of the Comprehensive Primary Micro Stem and Comprehensive Anatomic Versa-Dial Titanium Humeral Heads when used for primary and revision total shoulder arthroplasty (implants and instrumentation) at 1,3,5,7 and 10 years*. Comprehensive Primary Micro Stem and Comprehensive Anatomic Versa-Dial Titanium Humeral Heads have been on the market since 2007, but have insufficient data to support 10 years of clinical history. Therefore, a prospective aspect to the study will be utilized in order to collect long-term data.

Because Comprehensive Reverse Ti Glenospheres have only been on the market since 2009, a prospective aspect to the study will be utilized as well in order to collect long-term data.
Chronic musculoskeletal disorders such as low back and neck pain are responsible for an enormous global burden. Fear-avoidance (FA) can be a predictor for the transition from subacute to chronic low back pain. In patients with neck pain, those who were less fearful about harming their neck, had higher pain tolerance, which might have a positive impact on their level of disability. A new scale, the Fear-Avoidance Component Scale (FACS) was developed by Neblett, Mayer, Hartzell, Williams and Gatchel (2015) to assess FA. It consists of an all-encompassing set of constructs that more effectively deals with all critical issues of the FA concept than current scales do. Current scales have been criticized because of following findings: limited construct validity, little evidence on treatment responsiveness, a lack of evidence-based cut-off scores and items being too narrow or too general. The new scale comprehensively assesses all cognitive, emotional and behavioral components related to the updated version of the FA model by combining items of well-known scales in context of the FA model with items on one's perception of victimization and blame related to an injury. A Dutch version of the FACS is currently lacking. Subsequently, the aim of this study is to investigate different psychometric properties of the generated Dutch version in patients with musculoskeletal disorders.
Pulmonary recruitment maneuver (PRM) has been shown to reduce postoperative shoulder pain by removing excessive intraabdominal gas following laparoscopic surgery(LS). A recent study demonstrated that compared to PRM in the supine position, PRM at semi-fowler position provides better evacuation of the remaining intraabdominal gas following gynecologic LS. This study aimed to compare the impact of PRM with 15 cm H2O and PRM with 30 cm H2O on postoperative shoulder pain in patients undergoing gynecologic LS.
Introduction: Atraumatic and degenerative rotator cuff tears are common in individuals over 55 years of age. This condition can have a high impact on social life and is associated with chronic pain, weakness and dysfunction of the upper limb. There is evidence that conservative approaches should be the first treatment option. Conservative treatment usually addresses a variety of therapeutic behaviors without providing scientific arguments for the choice and progression of exercises. At that, there is a gap in the literature on the best exercises for this population, whether they are exercises to strengthen the remaining fibers of the rotator cuff or exercises focused on strengthening other shoulder muscles with rotator cuff unload exercise program. Objective: To compare the effects of two different exercise programs based on the load of the rotator cuff on a population with shoulder pain and rotator cuff tear. Methods: This is a controlled, randomized, blinded clinical trial. In this study 78 individuals with shoulder pain and presence of atraumatic rupture of the rotator cuff muscle tendon will participate and will be randomly distributed between two groups. The primary outcome will be quality of life (WORC index), and secondary outcomes will include pain, function (DASH), fear avoidance beliefs (FABQ-Brazil), kinesiophobia (Tampa Scale), pain catastrophizing scale, muscle strength of abductors, lateral and medial rotators of the shoulder, range of motion of arm elevation and patient satisfaction. All outcomes will be measured before and after 12 weeks of treatment (2x/week), and 1 month after the end of treatment. The normality of the data will be verified by the Kolmogorov Smirnov test. The differences between the groups will be verified using the mixed linear models with the terms of interaction versus time. The effect size will be calculated for the variables between the groups. The level of significance will be 5%.
The purpose of this study was to translate and culturally adapt the MSQ to Turkish language and test the validity and reliability of Turkish version of MSQ in shoulder dysfunction patients. In this study assessing whether platelet rich plasma injections(PRP) are effective in the management hemiplegic shoulder pain, 55 patients with hemiplegic shoulder pain was recruited to this randomized controlled study. Patients were randomized into two groups, first getting PRP injections, and other group taking sham injections.
This is a phase IV , randomized, single-blind, single-center study comparing patient related outcomes such as postoperative pain and opioid usage for patients who receive ISB 's containing liposomal bupivacaine (Exparel®) plus 0.5% bupivacaine HCL versus 0.5% bupivacaine HCL undergoing total shoulder arthroplasty. The objective of this study is to compare opioid utilization and pain management of patients who receive Exparel in an ISB vs standard 0.5% bupivacaine HCL during the initial 72 --- hour post --- operative period. Additionally, to understand the duration of block after addition of Exparel® to bupivacaine in an Interscalene block after TSA.
