The study is design To determine the effectiveness of moderate physical activity on Hb, Physical fitness and psychological well-being in females.
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal disorder in females in reproductive age associated with signs and symptoms as amenorrhea or oligomenorrhea, obesity, infertility acne and hirsutism tism that mostly Reduce self steem and having negative impact on physical and sexual quality of life , the management of signs and symptoms should result in improvement in the quality of life
Chronic wounds are important economic and health-care problem. Biofilm has been recognized as a major factor in wound chronicity, delayed healing, and persistent infections, increasing the need for frequent dressing changes, painful debridement and systemic antimicrobial treatments influencing quality of life. In the presence of "un-cultivating" bacteria and limitations of clinical indicators of biofilm presence, there is a need for simple "screening" diagnostic method for biofilm detection. Chronic wounds of different etiology often associated with chronic pain reduce working abilities and cause restrictions in everyday living diminishing patient's quality of life. Efficacy of hyperbaric oxygenation therapy (HBOT) in treating chronic wound and associated infection has been suggested. This observational prospective cohort study will be conducted at the Department of undersea and hyperbaric medicine and Department of dermatovenereology, Clinical Hospital Center Rijeka during 3-year period from 2021. to 2024. including all patients treated due to chronic wound irrespective of the ethology. The patients will be evaluated upon enrolment, after 2, 4, 6 weeks, and 3, 6, 9, 12 months period, to clinically evaluate the wound characteristics, evaluate clinical healing rate, clinical indicators of biofilm and/or infection, need for additional diagnostic or treatment procedures. The patients in both groups (control and HBOT group) will be treated with standard treatment (dressings, debridement, antibiotics, infection control), in addition HBOT sessions will be performed (HBOT group). Impact of chronic wound and both treatment options to patient related outcome measures will be evaluated assessing intensity and pain characteristics, quality of life, depression, and anxiety by means of standardized questionnaires (visual analogue scale, McGill Pain questionnaire, Wound Quality of Life Index, Health Quality of Life Questionnaire, Beck depression and anxiety inventory). Microbiological analyses of swabs/biopsies will be evaluated to determine microbial profile and resistance. Detection and objectivization of biofilm will be evaluated by standard methods on microbiological isolates (Congo red agar, tube method, tissue culture plate method) and confocal scanning laser microscopy, and on clinical samples by light microscopy. Primary and secondary objective will be assessed after 1 year follow-up.
Celiac disease (CD) is an immunological disorder that mainly affects the small intestine, generating an inflammatory process in response to the presence of gluten (a protein). Autoimmune diseases are part of a group of diseases that are difficult to diagnose without a specific protocol or consensus to detect them due to the number of symptoms and diseases with which it has a relationship. The incidence of CD in Spain -according to data from the rest of the European Economic Community, since there is no study on incidence in Spain- is assumed to be approximately 1 per 100 live births. It is more frequent in women, with a 2:1 ratio. The only treatment consists of a STRICT GLUTEN-FREE DIET FOR LIFE. This results in the disappearance of symptoms, normalization of serology and recovery of intestinal villi. Failure to follow the diet can lead to important complications which, especially in adulthood, can manifest themselves in the form of osteopenia, osteoporosis and a high risk of neoplasms in the digestive tract, mainly. The main objective is to achieve a physical and physiological improvement in menopausal or post-menopausal celiac women. The specific objectives will be to know the influence of a dietary-nutritional program combined with physical exercise in menopausal or post-menopausal celiac women on: - Physical condition (strength, endurance, functional autonomy...). - Body composition. - Psychological aspects. - Physiological parameters (heart rate, maximum oxygen consumption, blood analysis...).
The study will examine the effect of using Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) compared with standard wound dressing among patients undergoing elective open surgery for incisional hernia. The study's main hypothesis is that NPWT will decrease the post-operative incidence of surgical site infections and also improve the patients' quality of life including less scar-related pain and higher cosmetic satisfaction.
It has previously been reported that participatory art-based activities may improve social inclusion, well-being, quality of life and health condition. Findings from the investigator's first study seem to confirm that the MMFA participatory art-based activity may improve well-being, quality of life and health condition in older community dwellers. However, these studies were performed before the COVID-19 crisis and were guided tours performed at the MMFA. A pilot study on virtual guided tour has been performed during COVID-19 pandemic (spring 2021). There is a need to confirm benefits with a randomized clinical trial. The hypothesize for this study is that a 3-month cycle of virtual weekly MMFA tours may induce changes in social isolation, well-being, quality of life and health condition (i.e., reduction of frailty) in older community dwellers. Because there is a positive correlation between severity of frailty and the occurrence of undesirable events like Emergency department (ED) visits and hospitalizations, the investigator hypothesizes that virtual guided tours may decrease the frequency of ED visits and hospitalizations.
Scleroderma (or Systemic Sclerosis - SSc) is one of the most neglected diseases worldwide, according to the World Health Organization. In the adult population with SS, the systemic effects of the disease, such as respiratory and peripheral muscle dysfunction, cause a decrease in quality of life. As a consequence, there is a concern about functional rehabilitation, since the aging of this population is already a reality. Thus, the objective of this project is to evaluate the effects of functional rehabilitation on functional capacity and quality of life in women over 18 years of SS. In this longitudinal intervention study, patients will be submitted to a three-month rehabilitation program. Before and after the intervention, patients will be submitted to the following assessments: Cochin Hand Functional Scale (CHFS), Short-Form 36 Health Survey (SF-36); Scleroderma Health Assessment Questionnaire Disability Index (SHAQ-DI); lung function; lung ultrasound; handgrip; Glittre Activities of Daily Living test. Thus, it is expected that patients with SS will benefit significantly, with a consequent improvement in musculoskeletal function and , functional capacity and health-related quality of life.
There is limited knowledge regarding the quality of life and needs of patients with advanced high grade gliomas, especially during the end of life. By doing this research, we are able to assess caregiver and patient symptoms and needs during the end of life phase of patients with brain tumors.
Malocclusions in adolescents may affect oral health related quality of life. The study aims at; 1. Evaluating two instruments measuring oral health related quality of life; "Child Perceptions Questionnaire 11-14" (CPQ 11-14) short form and "Psychosocial Impact of Dental Aesthetics Questionnaire" (PIDAQ). 2. Comparing differences in oral health related quality of life in; 1. adolescents with different types of malocclusion and without malocclusions 2. individuals of different genders and socioeconomic status 3. Longitudinally evaluating differences in oral health related quality of life; 1. before, during and after orthodontic treatment 2. in untreated individuals (without malocclusion) over time
