Effect of Progressive Muscle Relaxation Exercise on Primary Dysmenorrhea Menstrual Symptoms and Quality of Life.

In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the effect of progressive muscle relaxation exercise on dysmenorrhea, menstrual symptoms and quality of life in university students with common primary dysmenorrhea. The research is a single center, parallel group block randomized controlled experimental study. This study will be conducted in the Department of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, of a state university in Turkey. The universe of the research will be Gazi University Faculty of Health Sciences, third year and last year nursing students (N: 451). In order to determine the sample size in the research, power analysis was performed using the G Power 3.1.0 program. For this purpose, the study results of Sis Çelik and Ejder Apay (2021), which were similar to our study, were taken as reference. According to the power analysis made by calculating the effect size; It was determined that the sample of the study should consist of a total of 42 people, 21 in each group, will be randomized. The data of the research; Personal information form will be collected using Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), SF-12 Quality of Life Scale Short Form, Menstrual Symptom Scale, Dysmenorrhea Monitoring Form. The implementation of the research is planned between April 15, 2022 and August 15, 2022. Third and fourth year nursing students will be included in the study. First of all, it will be evaluated according to the sampling inclusion criteria using the pre-evaluation form. Women who meet the inclusion criteria will be informed about the purpose and importance of the research, and women who agree to participate in the study will be determined. Informed consent form will be signed by the women who accepted to participate in the study, Visual Analogue Scale, Menstrual Symptom Scale and SF 12 Short Form will be applied. Randomization will be done after obtaining consent and filling out the forms.

Assessing the Quality of Life in Adults With Spinal Deformity

Spinal deformities, such as scoliosis, can have a significant impact on the physical and psychological health of patients. Over time, specific tools for this condition have been developed to investigate the extent of this impact, such as the SRS-22 questionnaire and ISYQOL questionnaire. The latter was initially used for underage patients, but given that some of them continue their therapy and the monitoring beyond the age of 18, we have continued its use in these subjects as well. Given the clinical usefulness and given the lack of questionnaires developed in the Rasch environment for adults, we have extended the application of the ISYQOL questionnaire to the adult population. However, a comparison between the ISYQOL and SRS-22 in adults has not yet been made. The objective of this study is to verify the validity of ISYQOL and to compare the properties of ISYQOL with those of the SRS-22 questionnaire in adults with spinal deformity.

Effect of Cholecalciferol Supplementation on Disease Activity and Quality of Life of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Patients .

Increase in the prevalence and survival rates has led to the assessment of disease activity and quality of life of SLE patients as targets in treatment. Cholecalciferol supplementation was considered as having a role in reducing disease activity and improving quality of life.This research was a double blind, randomized, controlled trial was conducted on female outpatients aged 18-60 years with SLE, consecutively recruited from September to December 2021 at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital. Sixty subjects who met the research criteria were randomized and equally assigned into the cholecalciferol and placebo groups. The study outcomes were measured at baseline and after 12 weeks of intervention. we measured he level of vitamin D before and after intervention, the disease activity by MEX-SLEDAI score and the quality of life by Lupus QoL

Effect of a Dietary Supplement on Quality of Life

The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the effect of a combination of 3 food components to improve the quality of life in people who have trouble sleeping. Ten subjects with insomnia will drink 2 ounces of the supplement or a placebo for 1 week and after a 2 weeks washout period, will take the treatment they did not take the first week. Questionnaires to evaluate quality of life, a finger oximeter and a sleep study will be done before and after each treatment week.

The Effect of Video Training on Symptom Burden Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis Treatment

Purpose: This study aimed to examine the impacts of video training support on the symptom burden, comfort level and quality of life (QoL) of the patients undergoing hemodialysis (HD) treatment. Methods: The current study adopted a randomized controlled quasi-experimental research design to investigate the implications of video training support on the symptom burden, comfort level and QoL of 48 participant patients, 22 of whom were in control and 26 were in intervention group, at Mugla Fethiye State Hospital Hemodialysis Center and a private hemodialysis center between April 2021 and July 2021. Data collection was conducted through Dialysis Symptom Index (DSI), Patient Information Form, QoL Scale Short Form (SF 36), and Hemodialysis Comfort Scale (HDCS) Version II. The data was collected four times, in week 0 (1st measurement), 4th week (2nd measurement), 8th week (3rd measurement), and 12th week (4th measurement). The intervention group watched three episodes of a training video a week for 12 weeks. Each session started 90 minutes after the HD treatment. The control group was shown the training video at the end of the research. Necessary ethics committee, institutional permissions and written consents of the participant patients were obtained prior to the study.

Depending on disease stage, head and neck cancer (HNC) can be cured either with a single modality or with multimodal treatments, consisting of various combinations of surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy. Despite treatment with curative intent, loco-regional recurrences and/or distant relapses are frequent. Moreover, these therapeutic approaches result in significant acute toxicities and late sequelae. Therefore, quality of life (QoL) is often impaired in these survivors. It is known that QoL is a prognostic factor because it is related to overall survival in cancer patients and to loco-regional control in HNC patients. The adoption of mobile technologies of common use (i.e. embedded into standard mobile phones) for behavior reconstruction and linkage of behavior modifications to quality of life indicators, and the realization of predictive models for quality of life modifications will allow seamless and unobtrusive data capture over time, making the execution of clinical investigations more precise and less burdensome as compared to standard (manual) data capture. The main aim of the present study is to reduce and to anticipate, with the use of the non-invasive Big data for quality of life (BD4QoL) platform, the proportion of HNC survivors experiencing a clinically meaningful reduction in QoL.

Endoscopic thyroidectomy bilateral areola approach (ETBAA) is one of the most widely applied approach in China, meanwhile its safety and effectiveness has been broadly discussed since being introduced. However, these studies are generally with small sample size and short follow-up duration. The lack of long-term follow-up on oncological outcomes makes it inaccurate to evaluate the effectiveness of ETBAA versus OT. Thus, in this study, we evaluated long-term QoL and outcomes of patients with PTC underwent thyroidectomy via ETBAA versus OT.
