Filter by:This is a phase IV, prospective biomarker study that will be conducted at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. After screening for patients who were treated with aspirin, thirty patients will be treated with 81 mg enteric coated (EC) aspirin for 7 days in the "lead-in" period and then will be randomly treated with EC aspirin (81mg qd) or EC aspirin (81mg qd) plus rivaroxaban (2.5 mg bid) for 12 weeks. Platelet aggregation, soluble markers of platelet activation and inflammation, thrombin generation kinetics and tissue factor (TF)-induced platelet-fibrin clot strength will be assessed at baseline (after 7 days of treatment with 81 mg EC aspirin), and 4 and 12 weeks after randomization of the study drug administration.
The purpose of this registry study is to gather real world standard of care (SOC) data on the safety and performance on the Roxwood Medical catheter devices in the treatment of stenotic lesions and CTO.
This study will focus on determining; - How accurate the test is in detecting poor circulation - How it's accuracy compares to other commonly used tests, and - Whether test results are linked to the chance of ulcer healing or amputation. Across 2 hospitals, 305 diabetic patients will be scanned using the focused ultrasound test as well as other commonly used tests to detect poor circulation. Their results will be compared to a full version of the ultrasound test to identify the most accurate.
The first aim of this study was to elaborate and validate a treadmill walking test that would help discriminate between neurogenic claudication from vascular claudication. The second objective of this study is to determine if the treadmill walking test can discriminate spinal stenosis from low back pain with radiating pain in lower limb.
The results of this study will serve as a starting point for future trials concentrating on the effectiveness and clinical outcomes of the procedures performed in an office based angiosuite. Additionally, other studies could compare clinical outcomes between procedures performed in an office based angiosuite and other settings.
This protocol represents a pilot randomized-controlled trial evaluating the effect of an electronic health record (EHR)-based peripheral artery disease (PAD) screening tool on rates of new non-invasive testing, diagnosis and treatment of PAD over a 6-month period. An EHR-based PAD screening tool will be applied to the Stanford EHR, which will generate a group of patients of varying risks of having undiagnosed PAD. Patients with the highest risk of having undiagnosed PAD will then be evaluated for inclusion in this study. 1:1 randomization will be performed on a consecutive basis until study enrollment is completed (25 patients per arm). Physicians of patients randomized to the intervention arm will be sent notification via an EHR message detailing the patient's risk of undiagnosed PAD and suggestions for referral to vascular medicine for risk assessment and/or non-invasive ankle brachial index (ABI) testing. The primary outcome is number of patients receiving ABI testing for PAD at 6 months, with secondary outcomes including number of new PAD diagnoses, number of new referrals to cardiovascular specialists (vascular medicine, vascular surgery, and/or cardiology) and number of patients receiving initiation of new cardiovascular medications (anti-platelet agents, statins, and/or antihypertensive agents).
The study is an observational feasibility study to evaluate the feasibility of a combined aerobic+resistance training program in patients with IC.
This INITIATE study evaluates the use of high-intensity interval training as a treatment modality for patients with intermittent claudication - an ambulatory leg pain caused by narrowed arteries that supply the lower limbs. It is an observational cohort study considering HIIT as a treatment for intermittent claudication, consisting of two workstreams. Workstream 1: an initial observational cohort study to consider the feasibility of the intervention and exclusion criteria. Workstream 2: a proof of concept study utilising the altered intervention and exclusion criteria following recommendations highlighted during workstream 1.
Single-centre prospective cohort study of patients presenting with severe limb ischaemia (SLI). The primary outcome measure will be 12 month major amputation rate. A historical cohort of patients identified retrospectively will be the comparitor group used to assess the impact of a newly-established rapid-access limb salvage clinic. Primary aim: - Determine the proportion of patients with SLI undergoing major lower limb amputation within 12 months of presentation. Secondary aims: - Assess clinically important short-, medium- and long-term outcomes in those undergoing and not undergoing amputation - Prevalence and degree of frailty and cognitive impairment - Pevalence and degree of cardiac disease (detected by stress MRI) - Establish a biobank for future biomarker analysis - Investigate the role of frailty and cognitive assessments, cardiac MRI and biomarkers in risk-stratification of patients with SLI
This prospective pivotal study is a double arm, randomized multi-center study evaluating the safety and performance of the MicroStent peripheral vascular stent system for use in arterial lesions below the knee. A total of 177 subjects will be enrolled at up to 25 centers and followed for up to 3 years, with the primary safety and efficacy endpoints evaluated 30 days and 6 months, respectively, post-implant.
