The purpose of this study is to assess the feasibility of home-based measurement of walking capacity in peripheral arterial disease (PAD) patients, uing the Global Positioning System (GPS). This study should state if the GPS technique could be used in clinical routine in order to assess walking capacity in PAD patients. Patients will be assessed a first time (test 1) and six months later (test 2).

The investigators propose an evaluation that will assess three important components of risk communication: 1. provide patients with personalized risk communication using the risk calculator developed by FIMDM and health information taken from the Living with Coronary Artery Disease program 2. provide personalized tailored patient feedback to help initiate and maintain specific cardiovascular CVD-related behaviors(e.g., medication adherence, exercise, diet, smoking cessation) to reduce their risks. 3. evaluate how this feedback can be incorporated into clinical care by examining 3 month patient outcome and provider responses to the risk information.

This study is designed to test two hypotheses: 1. The PADnet+ testing system produces clinically equivalent results as the Parks Flo-Lab testing system in a group of patients referred for evaluation of PAD of the limbs when performed by a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT). 2. The PADnet+ testing system produces clinically equivalent results when the testing is repeated on the above patients and performed by staff specifically trained on the use of the PADnet+ system but are not vascular technologists nor hold the RVT certification.

A Multi-center Clinical Trial of the Misago™ Self-Expanding Stent System for Superficial Femoral Artery

OSPREY is a multi-center, single arm, non-randomized, prospective clinical trial. Subjects will undergo a superficial femoral artery (SFA) stent procedure using the Misago™ Peripheral Self Expanding stent once all of the inclusion and none of the exclusion criteria are met. The stent efficacy and safety will be evaluated immediately post procedure, and at 30 days, 6, 12, 24, and 36 months post procedure. A subject is considered enrolled into the OSPREY study after he/she signs the informed consent and meets all inclusion/exclusion criteria. The study objectives are to demonstrate that efficacy and safety of this novel stent design are not inferior to historical Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty (PTA) and stent outcomes and meet the performance goals as published in the objective performance goals by Rocha-Singh, et al. This is a multi-center, single arm, non-randomized, prospective clinical trial of the Misago™ Self-Expanding Stent System for the treatment of atherosclerotic stenosis and occlusions of the SFA. The primary endpoint of stent patency will be evaluated at 12 months.

GORE VIABAHN® Versus Plain Old Balloon Angioplasty (POBA) for Superficial Femoral Artery (SFA) In-Stent Restenosis

This is a prospective, randomized, multi-center study recruiting patients with an in-stent restenosis in the superficial femoral artery. The safety and efficacity of the Viabahn endoprosthesis (W.L. Gore & Associates), a heparin-bonded endoprosthesis, is compared with plain old balloon angioplasty (POBA). In 4 Belgian and 2 German centers a total of 80 Patients will be recruited. Primary endpoint is primary patency at 12 months, defined as no evidence of restenosis or occlusion within the originally treated lesion based on color-flow duplex ultrasound (CFDU) measuring a peak systolic velocity ratio ≤2.5, and without target lesion revascularization (TLR) within 12 months. In comparison to POBA, it is expected that the use of the Viabahn endoprosthesis (W.L. Gore & Associates) will result in greater 12 month primary patency of treated superficial femoral artery in-stent restenotic lesions.
