Stress-Busting Program for Caregivers of Patients With Neruological Diseases

Start date: July 2004
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Although family caregivers perform an incredibly valuable service for their relatives and the formal health care system, they do so at a considerable cost to themselves both emotionally and physically. A Study of Neurophysiologic Changes in Individuals With Parkinson's Disease

Start date: May 2003
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The goal of this study is to investigate neurophysiologic tests that have the potential of serving as screening tools for Parkinson's disease. These neurophysiologic tests will be administered to individuals with Parkinson's disease and parkinsonian syndrome and validated against a healthy control population. Specifically, this study will look at changes in motor function, cognitive function, handwriting, speech, and olfactory function in individuals with Parkinson's disease, individuals at risk for Parkinson's disease and healthy controls.

NCT ID: NCT00111982 Completed - Parkinson's Disease Clinical Trials

Trial of Extended Treatment With Liatermin (r-metHuGDNF) Administered by Continuous Intraputaminal (IPu)Infusion to Subjects With Idiopathic Parkinson's Disease Who Have Completed a Previous Trial of Liatermin

Start date: December 2003
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine long-term efficacy of continuous IPu liatermin infusion administered with concomitant standard anti-Parkinsonian therapy.

NCT ID: NCT00105521 Completed - Parkinson's Disease Clinical Trials

Sarizotan in Participants With Parkinson's Disease Suffering From Treatment Associated Dyskinesia

Start date: September 30, 2004
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to test multiple doses of sarizotan to establish a dose with maximal safety and efficacy for treating treatment associated dyskinesia in Parkinson's disease participants.

NCT ID: NCT00105508 Completed - Parkinson's Disease Clinical Trials

Sarizotan HC1 in Patients With Parkinson's Disease Suffering From Treatment-associated Dyskinesia

Start date: September 30, 2004
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine if Sarizotan HC1 1 mg b.i.d. (taken twice a day) is effective in the treatment of dyskinesia associated with dopaminergic treatment of Parkinson's disease (PD).

NCT ID: NCT00103597 Completed - Parkinson's Disease Clinical Trials

Efficacy of Therapeutic Interventions for Orthostatic Hypotension in Parkinson's Disease and Multiple System Atrophy

Start date: January 2005
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

Patients with Parkinson's Disease or Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), and symptoms of orthostatic hypotension, are eligible for the study. Each patient will have three weeks of conservative therapy, three weeks of therapy with fludrocortisone, and three weeks of therapy with domperidone. Autonomic testing, a symptom questionnaire, bedside blood pressure testing, and Unified Parkinson Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) will be performed after each intervention.

NCT ID: NCT00100438 Completed - Parkinson's Disease Clinical Trials

Incidence of Parkinson's Disease Among Veterans

Start date: October 1998
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

This is a database study. Medical records will be reviewed in order to document a new or pending diagnosis of Parkinson's disease and in order to learn more about the disease process. Other than the time that it takes to complete a medical record authorization form, no other human subject participation will be needed.

NCT ID: NCT00099268 Completed - Parkinson's Disease Clinical Trials

Efficacy and Safety of Carbidopa/Levodopa/Entacapone in Patients With Parkinson's Disease Requiring Initiation of Levodopa Therapy

STRIDE-PD
Start date: September 2004
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The CELC200A2401 study has been designed in order to evaluate the hypothesis that administering the combination carbidopa/levodopa/entacapone at the time that levodopa therapy is initiated results in a decrease in the risk of the development of motor complications for patients with Parkinson's disease.

NCT ID: NCT00095810 Completed - Parkinson's Disease Clinical Trials

Aripiprazole in Patients With Psychosis Associated With Parkinson's Disease

Start date: July 2003
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this clinical research study is to assess the safety and tolerability of aripiprazole in patients with psychosis associated with Parkinson's disease.

NCT ID: NCT00087542 Completed - Parkinson's Disease Clinical Trials

Treatment of Hallucinosis/Psychosis in Parkinson's Disease by an Investigational Drug

Start date: March 2004
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective is to demonstrate that the investigational new drug, ACP-103, is well tolerated by, and will not worsen parkinsonism in, patients with Parkinson's disease and psychosis. The secondary objectives are to determine whether ACP-103 will ameliorate psychosis in patients with Parkinson's disease and whether ACP-103 is safe in Parkinson's disease patients taking multiple anti-parkinsonian medications.
