Filter by:This is a mixed methods study exploring the experiences of pregnancy and parenting among participants with Lyme disease. Eligible participants will have been diagnosed with Lyme disease (LD), post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome (PTLDS), and/or chronic Lyme (CL) either during or before a prior pregnancy. Participants will complete quantitative surveys on topics such as their medical history, their child(ren)'s development, and demographic information. They will then participate in a qualitative interview where they will be asked about their experiences with pregnancy and with parenting their child(ren) in the context of their condition.
In this study, the investigators will conduct a proof-of-concept pilot trial of delivering the Project Support Positive Parenting Module (Project Support) to n = 30 families waiting for trauma-focused services. Investigators hypothesize that Project Support will be feasible and acceptable as evidenced by benchmarks for recruitment, retention at post assessment, engagement, fidelity, and program satisfaction. Investigators will also explore trends on caregiver emotional support, parenting self-efficacy, and child mental health symptoms.
The Parents Together trial aims to determine if the Parents Together program consisting of virtual parent group sessions and coaching calls, will result in better health outcomes for children. The program which is facilitated by a Public Health Nurse seeks to encourage healthy lifestyle behaviours, help build strong family relationships, and promote child development and mental health.
Parent training programs in groups and over internet can help parents improve their interaction and communication with their children. There is however a lack knowledge of how programs work for parents of teenagers, as most studies have concerned younger children. Furthermore, most studies have been conducted on programs for selective populations with elevated risk. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of two universal preventive parenting programs for teenagers: The group-based program 'ABC-teen' and the online-based 'ParentWeb'. Both programs aim to strengthen the parent-adolescent relationship and reduce negative communication. The programs are developed in Sweden with content based on other established parenting programs (e.g., Comet, Incredible Years, the Triple P). The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of the the two programs, with adolescent mental health as primary outcome. Several secondary outcome measures concerning parenting and parent-adolescent relationship were also collected. Parents were randomized to ABC-teen, ParentWeb or a 6 months Wait-List control. Parent- and adolescent ratings were collected at baseline, after 4 and after 12 months. All data collection has now been completed and the next step is to process and analyze the data.
The goal of this clinical trial is to implement and examine the impact of SafeCare Kenya, an adapted parenting program, to improve parents' skills and knowledge related to the care of their children between the ages of 18 months and 5 years old. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Will SafeCare Kenya improve child and parent outcomes? - Is virtual delivery as effective as in-person delivery of SafeCare Kenya? - Is SafeCare Kenya feasible to deliver by community health volunteers? Mothers will: - Complete study assessments at three timepoints: baseline, 6 months and 18 months - Mothers in the SafeCare Kenya group will receive the program from their community health volunteer Researchers will compare SafeCare Kenya to care as usual by community health volunteers to see if SafeCare Kenya families show improvements in parent interaction skills, safety and health knowledge, potential for child abuse, child behavior problems, child injuries, parenting stress, and child and parent quality of life.
In this prospective, randomized controlled study, it was aimed to examine the effect of pregnant women participating in birth preparation training together with their partners on the parenting role, spouses' attitudes towards participation in birth, and birth self-efficacy. The study was shared via the web on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Telegram) forum pages between 25.09.2023-25.03.2025, and n=158 pregnant women who met the inclusion criteria and volunteered to participate in the study (79= education without spouse participation, 79= spouse Participatory education) will be conducted randomly in two groups: case and control. Before starting the research, two groups will be randomly formed among pregnant women. As a randomization method, pregnant women who meet the sampling inclusion criteria determined in the research will be identified and listed. Together with the Community Care Team of King County Community Partnership for Transition Solutions (KCCPTS), the investigators propose to collaborate in adapting parenting intervention(s) to support the well-being and effective parenting of parents re-entering the community, as well as that of their children's primary caregiver. The aim is promoting the well-being of the parents/caregivers and their children, fostering positive child development, and ultimately, preventing the intergenerational transmission of adversity. The KCCPTS Community Care Team includes re-entry navigators who have lived experience of adversity and incarceration, bringing their unique insights regarding the re-entry experience, from both personal and professional experiences. This study will evaluate a task-sharing approach to offering formerly incarcerated parents and their families a parenting support intervention. That is, re-entry navigators will be trained to deliver evidence-based parenting interventions. This increases the feasibility and accessibility of the program, particularly because facilitators have shared experiences and trusted connections with their clients. This project proposes four main activities: 1) conduct focus groups with parents re-entering the community to better understand their parenting needs, 2) work with KCCPTS re-entry navigators to incorporate information from their experience and the focus group to adapt a parenting intervention, 3) train re-entry navigators to deliver the program, and 4) conduct a preliminary evaluation of the impact of the program on parents' well-being and parenting when the program is delivered by KCCPTS re-entry navigators. If this preliminary evaluation shows promise in supporting parent well-being and parenting effectiveness, the investigators will seek funding to conduct a larger, more rigorous evaluation.
This research study will test the effectiveness of a culturally grounded parenting intervention called Parenting in 2 Worlds (P2W). This intervention is designed for American Indian / Alaska Native (AI) parents/guardians of adolescents who reside in urban areas. This will be a multi-regional effectiveness trial across four regions: Northeast (Buffalo/Niagara), Midwest (St. Paul/Minneapolis), Mountain (Denver), and Southwest (Phoenix). There are four specific aims. First, this study will test the effectiveness of Parenting in Two Worlds (P2W) as compared to an informational family health intervention, Healthy Families in 2 Worlds (HF2W), in improving parenting and family functioning. Second, this study will test if the relative effectiveness of P2W, compared to HF2W, varies by parent's/guardian's level of socioeconomic vulnerability, experiences of historical loss, or AI cultural identity. Third, this study will examine if P2W can reduce adolescent (ages 12 - 17) risky health behaviors including substance use, depressive symptoms, suicidality, and risky sexual behaviors. Fourth, this study will examine whether positive changes in parenting and family functioning that result from P2W lead to positive changes in adolescent's health behaviors.
The current study provides a unique opportunity to conduct a summative evaluation of the KEEP Connecting Kin (KEEP-CK) program by leveraging extant relationships with Oregon's Child Welfare System (CWS), Self-Sufficiency Program (SSP), and our community partners to address the needs of informal kinship families and the youth in their care. Specifically, a randomized "services-as-usual" (SAU) waitlist control design plus qualitative methods will be used to evaluate the immediate (post-intervention) and sustained (10 month) impacts of the KEEP-CK program on child, adult, and service utilization outcomes, and prevention of entry into the CWS.
The goal of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of positive parenting programs targeted to parents of toddlers, children and adolescents carried out in Cantabria (Spain). We will collect information from the participants before the intervention, in the last session of the program and some months after, to verify if there have been some changes in the family dynamics of these parents, and if these changes continue after some time. Besides, we will compare these results with information from other families that are not taking part in the program. The main caregivers of the participating families and the practitioners in charge of the intervention will provide the information for the study. We expect that families participating in the programs will improve their parenting competencies and their family dynamics, and that these change will stay after the program.
