Pre-operative Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy for Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma With or Without CCX872-B

Standard treatment for newly diagnosed operable pancreatic cancer usually involves undergoing surgery first and then receiving chemotherapy with or without radiation therapy. However, the pancreatic cancer often comes back after this treatment. Therefore, the investigators are studying whether giving treatment prior to surgery can help decrease the risk the cancer returns. Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) is a highly focused type of radiation therapy commonly used in the treatment of pancreatic cancer. This treatment has been shown to be safe and effective for the preoperative treatment of pancreatic cancer. The purpose of this study is to determine if combining an experimental drug, CCX872-B, with SBRT continues to be safe and whether the combination treatment may be more effective at boosting the participant's immune system's ability to kill the pancreatic cancer.

EUS-FNB With MOSE vs EUS-FNA With ROSE

Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) is an indispensable tool for tissue acquisition for pancreatic lesions. However, FNA alone has several limitations including inadequate acquisition of cells, and unable to provide core tissue for further histological analysis. The use of rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) by cytopathologist has the biggest impact on improving diagnostic accuracy and is regarded as the gold standard for EUS-FNA. Unfortunately, it is not widely available due to limited resources. In order to overcome these limitations, new fine needle biopsy (FNB) needles have been recently developed to collect not only cells but also the entire core tissue for histological analysis. Having core biopsy with preserved tissue provides additional advantages of allowing molecular analysis, which are of emerging importance in cancer management. Early results comparing FNB with FNA showed the superiority of FNB over FNA in the absence of ROSE. Data comparing FNB and FNA with ROSE are limited. In order to study to true merits of FNB over FNA, comparison with the most optimal method is necessary.

PTFE Stents for Treatment of Malignant Biliary Strictures

In this randomized trial two two self-expanding metal stents (SEMS) for treatment of malignant biliary strictures are investigated. A newly developed PTFE (Polytetrafluorethylen) (Teflon) stent is tested versus standard covered metal stents. PFTE (Teflon) coating promises improved formability over standard silicone-coated stents, easier removal through the soft surface, and significantly reduced tumor growth through the impermeable surface.

GENetic Education Risk Assessment and TEsting Study

The goal of the GENERATE Study is to improve genetic testing and cancer prevention in family members of pancreatic cancer patients who may have genetic mutations (inherited changes). The study will measure how different methods of genetic education increase the rate of genetic testing in these families. This is an investigational study to measure the effects of two methods of genetic education. Participants may elect to undergo genetic testing as part of the study and will be asked to provide a saliva sample via a saliva-testing kit. The genetic testing done in this study is FDA approved and will be processed in a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) certified laboratory. Up to 1,000 participants will be enrolled in this study.
