Filter by:The purpose of this study is to determine whether a relationship exists between a previously established diagnosis of endometriosis and the consecutive risk of developing a clear cell or endometrioid ovarian carcinoma. All histopathological records since 1980 with these diagnoses (endometriosis, clear cell and endometrioid ovarian carcinoma) will be reviewed. Cancer registry data will be assessed to investigate differences in survival of women with endometriosis-associated ovarian carcinomas and those ovarian carcinoma patients without previous diagnosis of endometriosis.
The purpose of this study is to determine the role of lymphadenectomy in advenced ovarian cancer patients at the time of interval debulking surgery after neoadjuvant chemiotherapy. Moreover it is a prospective trial, aimed to investigate the prognostic role of sistematic lymphadenectomy in terms of percentage of micrometastases detected, morbidity (complications rate), progression free interval, overall survival, recurrence pattern.
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are present in the circulation of cancer patients, and are recruited to the stroma of both the primary tumor and metastasis. Recent preclinical research has shown that in response to platinum-based chemotherapy, MSCs secrete two specific platinum-induced fatty acids (PIFAs) which induce resistance to a broad spectrum of chemotherapies. The secreted PIFAs are the fatty acid oxo-heptadecatetraenoic acid (KHT) and the omega-3 fatty acid hexadecatetraenoic acid (16:4). These PIFAs are produced via the COX-1 pathway. COX inhibitors, including indomethacin. This phase 1 study explores the safety of combining indomethacin with platinum containing chemotherapy.
The purpose of this study is to find the answers to the following research question(s): 1. Is the study drug equivalent to the approved drug, Doxil/Caelyx, and does it act the same way in the body as the approved drug? ATI-0918 is believed to be a generic of Doxil/Caelyx and this is what the study is trying to prove. All people who participate in this study will receive the research study medication (ATI-0918) and Doxil/Caelyx in addition to best supportive care (treatment for symptoms). The study drug being tested in this study works the same as the FDA (government) approved drug doxorubicin HCl. ATI-0918 is a generic (the same) formulation of doxorubicin HCl being delivered (given to the patient).
First line treatment for advanced ovarian carcinoma hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) after optimal debulking.
The addition of bevacizumab to first-line chemotherapy has been shown to improve progression free survival for patients with ovarian cancer. The purpose of this study is to explore the potential role of clinical and biologic factors in identifying those patients who benefit most from this combined therapy in terms of progression free and overall survival.
The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy and the safety of the association of carboplatine and liposomal doxorubicin in patient with ovarian cancer in relapse, sensitive to platin.
The purpose of this study is to learn more about the appearance and behavior of benign-looking adnexal masses. - Benign-looking means that when viewed here by ultrasound it has the appearance of looking not harmful or not malignant. - Adnexal refers to the 'adnexa', the space in the female pelvis on either side of the uterus (or where the uterus used to be if you previously had a hysterectomy). The adnexa includes, but is not limited to, the ovaries and the fallopian tubes. - Masses refers to a variety of structures, including but not limited to: - ovarian cysts that are fluid filled sacs within or attached to an ovary - ovarian tumors that can be solid tissue or a combination of cysts and solid tissue - hydrosalpinges that are fluid collections in the fallopian tube Many women have what appear to be benign adnexal masses. Many times, removal of the masses with surgery is not necessary. Often surgery is performed unnecessarily, for fear that these masses could be cancer. There is not much information available for doctors to know how and when to follow these masses, or which ones will become cancer. This study will combine information from centers all around the world regarding the behavior of all types of benign adnexal masses. The aim of this study is to develop decision tools for doctors to know the best way to treat these masses in order to improve the detection of ovarian cancer while at the same time reduce the number of unnecessary operations.
A 2-part, Phase 2 controlled, open-label, randomized study in participants with platinum-resistant recurrent ovarian cancer. In Part 1, participants received SGI-110 and carboplatin. The optimum dose of SGI-110 (guadecitabine) was identified in Part 1 based on safety and efficacy. In Part 2, participants were randomized to receive the dose identified in Part 1 plus carboplatin or one of four treatment of choice at the discretion of the investigator. The treatment of choice consisted of topotecan, pegylated liposomal doxorubicin, paclitaxel or gemcitabine.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of combined topotecan and veliparib (ABT888) treatment in relapsed ovarian cancer with tumor progression and negative or unknown BRCA mutation status.
