This study will compare the efficacy of an interactive internet intervention for older adults with insomnia called SHUTi OASIS (Sleep Healthy Using the Internet for Older Adult Sufferers of Insomnia and Sleeplessness) accessed at www.shutioasis.org both with and without support for adherence to that of a static educational website to improve sleep, health, mood, and overall quality of life.
The aim of this study is to evaluate if a intervention with hippotherapy will improve spasticity for children ages 3-14 who have cerebral palsy. The hip aductors spasticity will be measured using the Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS). The intervention will be performed in addition to traditional treatment.
This study is a first-in-man study that will investigate the safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics of ascending single doses of BAY1902607 using a placebo controlled, randomized, single center design. Continuous distending airway pressure (CPAP) has gained popularity as a means to provide non-invasive respiratory support in neonates to reduce ventilator induced lung injury (VILI). However, maintaining CPAP in preterm infants has been challenging, often related to issues with nasal interface such as nasal septal injury, problems with keeping the prongs in the nose and leak around the prongs with are important factors in proving effective CPAP. RAM cannula was recently approved for providing supplemental oxygen and soon adapted by many centers to provide CPAP in preterm infants. Concerns have been raised that RAM cannula interface results in sub-optimal pressure delivery compared to standard nasal prongs.
The roles of imaging in cancer may be divided into that of diagnosis and tumour detection, staging and assessment of response to treatment. Standard radiological techniques include ultrasound, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET). A combination of imaging techniques is often necessary to differentiate between cancerous and normal tissue. Traditional imaging techniques identify cancers by their gross appearance and structural/ cellular characteristics, whilst PET do so by tracking glucose metabolism. PET owes its specificity to the high rate of glucose metabolism seen in most cancers. However it is not used routinely due to a lack of availability and high costs. In addition, PET is often used in combination with CT, which imparts a significant diagnostic radiation dose. This can increase an individual's risk of cancer, especially with childhood or early adult exposure. In contrast, MRI is more readily available and does not involve radiation. However its ability to detect cancer by tracking glucose metabolism has not been widely explored. Our group has recently developed a novel MRI technique called Gluco-CEST that can image glucose delivery, uptake and metabolism in cancer, therefore potentially allowing a radiation-free, one-stop imaging service that can be adapted to current generation of MRI scanners. This study aims to optimise the GlucoCEST technique, after which it will be rigorously tested and compared to standard imaging parameters and clinical or pathological reference standards to evaluate its diagnostic and predictive power across a number of cancer populations.
This trial is conducted in Europe. The aim of this trial is to investigate the effect of abnormal liver (hepatic) function on the amount of trial drug getting into the body and removal of the drug from the body (this is called pharmacokinetics). In this trial the participants will receive three subcutaneous (under the skin) injections of the trial drug somapacitan. Somapacitan is a long-acting growth hormone analogue (a drug similar to human growth hormone) intended for once-weekly subcutaneous administration.
Primary Objective: To demonstrate non-inferiority of SAR341402 versus NovoLog/NovoRapid in glycated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) change from baseline to Week 26 in participants with type 1 or type 2 diabetes mellitus (T1DM or T2DM) also using Lantus®. Secondary Objectives: - To assess the immunogenicity of SAR341402 and NovoLog/NovoRapid in terms of positive/negative status and anti-insulin antibody (AIA) titers during the course of the study. - To assess the relationship of AIAs with efficacy and safety. - To assess the efficacy of SAR341402 and NovoLog/NovoRapid in terms of proportion of participants reaching HbA1c lesser than (<) 7.0% and change in HbA1c, fasting plasma glucose (FPG), and self-measured plasma glucose (SMPG) profiles from baseline to Week 26 and Week 52 (only Week 52 for HbA1c). - To assess safety of SAR341402 and NovoLog/NovoRapid.
The investigators hypothesize that perioperative oral administration of pregabalin would reduce postoperative pain and produce reduction in postoperative opioid consumption after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction . Patients are randomly assign to 1 of 2 groups. The placebo group receive placebo capsules 1 hour before surgery and 12 hours after initial dose. The pregabalin group receive pregabalin 150 mg, respectively at the same points.
