Filter by:ACL rupture has a high morbidity in productive-age population. The increasing incidence and proper management has become a point of interest in the musculoskeletal sport injury. Choosing the best graft has become the main focus in searching for a better outcome regarding ACL reconstruction in these patient population. Currently, single bundle hamstring tendon (SBHT) autograft was preferred in Asian population compared to bone quadriceps tendon (BQT) autograft. However, there are some problems such as smaller size, as well as diameter, of SBHT. This study is focused on evaluation of the clinical outcome between BQT and SBHT in arthroscopic-assisted ACL reconstruction patients.
This study is a single-centre, interventional randomised controlled trial. Participants will be individually randomised to receive either COMPASS online CBT + "usual care" (standard LTC charity support), or usual care only. Randomisation will be stratified by recruiting charity site to ensure a balance of participants with different LTCs across the intervention and control arm. Randomisation will occur using a 1:1 allocation ratio managed by RECAP software. Participants randomised to COMPASS will receive access to the online program. It consists of 11 online modules which target challenges associated with living with LTC(s) and includes, amongst other things, psycho-education, patient examples, interactive tasks and goal setting. Participants are linked to a therapist; 'guide', who will provide 6 x 30 minute support sessions delivered fortnightly in the format preferred by the client (phone and/or in-site message). Participants allocated to the usual care control arm will receive the usual care that is available to them via their charity. All charities include a helpline which can be accessed via telephone or email. The helplines at all charities offer one-off emotional and/or informational support provided by people trained in active listening and/or counselling skills. Additional support avenues that can be accessed may include online support groups, local community support groups and informational resources.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmakokinetics and pharmacodynamics of single and repeated doses of ANX009
Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) was considered as a heterogeneous disease with multi-organ and multi-system design, which is related to various complications, such as hypertension, obesity and arteriosclerosis. Studies have found that hypertension and obesity are respectively associated with increased arterial stiffness. However, there is still no research investigating the the relationship between blood pressure and arterial stiffness in HFpEF patients with different levels of obesity.
The treatment before bone marrow transplantantion is initiated by chemotherapy associated or not with radiotherapy, both of which cause various side effects on the patient as symptoms that impair food intake. The nutritional status of the patient is one of the factors related to the success of the transplant, so a complete nutritional assessment before transplantation is necessary in order to identify patients at nutritional risk, nutritional disorders and to perform appropriate and early intervention to promote recovery and / or health maintenance. Will be used for nutritional assessment: arm perimeter, arm muscle area; electrical bioimpedance, phase angle, and Indirect Calorimetry, a standard method of noninvasive nutritional assessment that expresses the nutritional demand and rate of utilization of energy substrates from oxygen consumption and carbon dioxide production through the air inhaled and exhaled by the individual's lungs.
This phase I trial is to find out possible benefits and/or side effects of platelet rich plasma for the treatment of genitourinary syndrome of menopause in patients with stage 0-III breast cancer. Platelet rich plasma is produced by collecting approximately 60-90 ml (4-6 tablespoons) of blood from the vein in patients' arm. The blood is spun using a centrifuge that separates the plasma and red blood cells. This allows doctors to collect the platelet rich plasma that is then loaded into individual, sterile syringes for injection. Giving platelet rich plasma may help relief symptoms of genitourinary syndrome of menopause in patients with breast cancer.
Aortic valve stenosis is one of the most common types of heart disease in the aging Western population. While surgical cardiac valve replacement (SAVR) is a standard therapy for patients with aortic stenosis, catheter-assisted aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has developed as an alternative to open-heart surgery, especially for high-risk patients. Recently, increased surgeon experience and improved transcatheter valve systems have led to a global trend to use TAVI in patients with low or intermediate risk. Although cognitive impairment after cardiac surgery is well known, the effect of TAVI on cognitive function has not yet been adequately investigated. The aim of this study is to compare the occurrence and progression of delirium, postoperative cognitive decline (POCD), cerebral infarction, and health-related quality of life (QOL) in patients with intermediate risk for catheter-assisted (TAVI) and surgical (SAVR) aortic valve replacement.
The proposed research will determine the feasibility of a time restricted feeding intervention,a fasting regimen that restricts eating to a feeding window (8 hrs/day) for 1 year in adults with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) who are overweight or obese. The study will provide valuable information on the intervention in terms of safety, adherence, acceptability, and tolerability. Last, this pilot trial will provide initial insight into biological changes including abdominal adiposity, changes in kidney growth and function, and markers of biological pathways related to the intervention.
This trial investigates effects of individualized (by compliance guided pressure settings) flow-controlled ventilation compared to best clinical practice pressure-controlled ventilation in thoracic surgery requiring one lung ventilation.
The investigators aim to achieve experts consensus on respiratory interventions in management of COVID-19 related acute respiratory failure (C-ARF).
