NCT ID: NCT03563469 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Black Stain Dental, Dental Black Stain, Black Stain*, Black Stains, Tooth Stains

Assessment of Salivary Bacterial Level and Dental Caries Experience in a Group of Egyptian Children With Black Stained Teeth

Start date: July 1, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Black stains (BS) are type of extrinsic discoloration of the tooth. It's characterized as dark lines or an incomplete coalescence of dark dots found mostly on cervical third of the crown. Most studies worldwide found that children with the black stained teeth have low caries prevalence. A study on Brazilian population also suggested that black stains might be protective factor against development of dental caries. A study reported that chromogenic bacteria were proposed as etiological factor in production of black stains. The most common microbiological composition of BS was found to be Actinomycetes. Dental examination and saliva samples collection will be done for black stained teeth children of outpatient clinic of Pediatric Dentistry and Dental Public Health Department, Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University. This research adopts null hypothesis; it assumes that there is no effect on dental caries experience in children with black stained teeth.

NCT ID: NCT03551431 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for EEG, Psychogenic Non Epileptic Events

Comparison of Efficacy Between Suggestion Method During Video EEG Recording by Verbal Suggestion in Isolation and Verbal Suggestion Along With Cotton Swab or Tuning Fork for Inducing the Paroxysmal Event in Children Aged 5 to 18 Years With Suspected Psychogenic Nonepileptic Events

Start date: June 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In this study we are going to compare efficacy between suggestion method during video EEG recording by verbal suggestion in isolation and verbal suggestion along with cotton swab or tuning fork for inducing the paroxysmal event in children aged 5 to 18 years with suspected psychogenic nonepileptic events. Still there is paucity of data regarding the optimum method for video EEG by suggestion for psychogenic nonepileptic events. We are planning to recruit 25 children aged 5 to 18 years in each of the three arms after taking informed consent from the guardian and then they will be subjected to video EEG by any one of the three suggestion methods.

NCT ID: NCT03550963 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Gestational Diabetes Mellitus in Pregnancy

Comparison of Rice-richen and Wheaten-richen Meal on Glucose Control Among Chinese Women With Gestational Diabetes Melitus (GDM)

Start date: June 23, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Since the prevalence of gestational diabetes melitus (GDM) increased by ..., as an important part of medical treatment, nutrition therapy is highly required to help patients achieve normoglycemia. Carbohydrate intake is the primary nutrient affecting postprandial glucose levels, therefore the total amount and type of carbohydrate should be manipulated to blunt postprandial hyperglycemia. However, the type of carbohydrate has not yet been established. Rice and wheaten food have similar Glycemic Index (GI),but some researches found the glucose response to them is different. A case-control study is designed to compare the glucose control status between rice-richen meal and wheaten-richen meal, and all other macronutrients and micronutrients are all calculated and same between two groups, which may provide more clues for type of carbohydrate recommendation for Chinese women with GDM.

NCT ID: NCT03550612 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Neonatal Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy

Neonatal Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy:Early Diagnosis and Management of Comorbidities

Start date: February 1, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Perinatal asphyxia is common cause of acquired neonatal brain injury in neonates associated with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, leading to long-term neurologic complication or death. In 2000, the neonatal mortality rate in Egypt was found to be 25 per 1000 live birth. In this survey, hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy accounts for 18% of neonatal mortality and is the second most common cause of neonatal death.
