Filter by:The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy, through molecular response and event-free survival, about the use of Imatinib in conjunction with chemotherapy after BFM "like" Induction in children with ALL Ph+.
Patients suspected of CCSVI (chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency) may be tested and if appropriate treated with catheter venoplasty by an interventional radiologist in their local community who has been credentialled either by the local hospital's IRB or a national IRB if the procedure is done in an outpatient facility. Catheter angioplasty is a long-established and accepted medical procedure, patients' insurance should but may not cover the testing or treatment.
The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of BIO-K+ CL1285 for prevention of recurrent Clostridium difficile infection.
The specific aims of this study are (1) to determine the clinical phenotypes and natural history of hepatic RC and FAO disorders, (2) to determine the correlation between genotype and phenotype, (3) to determine if circulating biomarkers reflect diagnosis and predict liver disease progression and survival with the native liver, (4) to determine the clinical outcome of these disorders following liver transplantation, and (5) to develop a repository of serum, plasma, urine, tissue and DNA specimens that will be used in ancillary studies. To accomplish these aims, the ChiLDREN investigators at clinical sites (currently 15 sites) will prospectively collect defined data and specimens in a uniform fashion at fixed intervals in a relatively large number of subjects. Clinical information and DNA samples to be collected from subjects and their parents will enhance the potential for meaningful research in these disorders. A biobank of subject specimens and DNA samples will be established for use in ancillary studies to be performed in addition to this study.
The study is designed to determine if high doses of intravenous ascorbic acid (vitamin C) can be effective in managing solid tumor diseases. Secondary goals are determination of any palliative effects and improvement of quality of life of patients.
RATIONALE: Diagnostic procedures, such as 3'-deoxy-3'-[18F] fluorothymidine (FLT) PET imaging, may help find and diagnose cancer. It may also help doctors predict a patient's response to treatment and help plan the best treatment. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying FLT PET imaging in patients with cancer.
Diabetes increases the incidence and severity of periodontal inflammation and disease, and periodontal disease causes an increase in the severity of diabetes by worsening glycemic control and increasing insulin resistance.The Transmucosal Herbal Periodontal Patch (THPP) is a transmucosal patch containing an herbal compound that has an anti-inflammatory effect on gingival tissue.The primary objective of this study is to determine the efficacy of the Transmucosal Herbal Periodontal Patch (THPP) compared with placebo patch (PP) in reducing gingival inflammation at the site of placement in diabetic patients. We also aim to determine if the THPP decreases gingival inflammation throughout the mouth and the safety of THPP compared with placebo patch when applied to the mucosa in the treatment of gingival inflammation in diabetic patients.
RATIONALE: Studying samples of blood and urine from patients with cancer in the laboratory may help doctors learn more about changes that occur in DNA and identify biomarkers related to cancer. It may also help doctors predict how patients will respond to treatment. PURPOSE: This research study is evaluating kidney damage in patients receiving cisplatin and ifosfamide for solid tumors.
The purpose of the study is to determine the response to aspirin (ASA) and Clopidogrel in patients with peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD) requiring interventional procedures and to investigate if patients with "resistance" to ASA or Clopidogrel have an unfavourable outcome during long-term follow-up
The current study combines a molecular genetic perspective, self report and brain imaging to the study of human sexuality in control subjects and individuals from a sexual disorder clinic. The investigators hypothesize that the variability in components of the brain dopaminergic system expressed in the mesolimbic reward system can explain variability in human sexuality, especially in desire and pleasure associated with sex.
