This pilot clinical trial studies targeted biopsies in determining response in patients with prostate cancer undergoing high-dose-rate brachytherapy (a type of radiation therapy in which radioactive material sealed in needles, seeds, wires, or catheters is placed directly into or near a tumor). Studying tumor tissue obtained before and after treatment may help doctors understand changes in a pathway that looks at how deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is repaired after it is damaged and to see if there are differences in the prostate tissue prior to and after starting androgen deprivation therapy.

Titration of PEEP During Mechanical Ventilation in Patients With ARDS Using Electrical Impedance Tomography.

Lung units that participate in gas exchange are known as 'recruited' lung. Patients with lung injury suffer from a proportion of units that do not participate in gas exchange (i.e. the derecruited lung), which results in impaired gas exchange and induces an inflammatory cascade. The level of PEEP is often coupled to indices of oxygenation such as PaO2, PaO2 to FIO2 ratio, or oxygen index. Currently, two strategies are widely accepted and considered equivocal, one strategy using a lower PEEP level coupled to a certain oxygen requirement, the other using a higher PEEP level. The primary purpose of this study is to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of an electrical impedance tomography (EIT) PEEP titration protocol designed to recruit collapsed lung in children with ARDS and properly maintain lung volumes by setting an optimal PEEP level. A safety system has been developed using the ARDSnet FIO2/PEEP High (upper threshold limit) and Low (lower threshold limit) algorithm. Efficacy will be defined as an improvement in lung volume as assessed by electrical impedance tomography, lung compliance and by an improvement in markers of gas exchange. Safety will be defined as the incidence of barotrauma and hemodynamic consequences that occur during the protocol. Those results will be compared to incidences of barotrauma and hemodynamic compromise within the ARDS literature. Knowledge gained from this pilot will be instrumental in developing an EIT imagine guided protocol which will allow us to conduct future RCTs utilizing EIT technology

Safety, Tolerability, and Immunogenicity of a Cytomegalovirus DNA Vaccine

If the participant decides to take part in the study, the participant will need to do the following: Visit the study clinic up to 10 times and be available for a reasonable amount of follow up phone calls to see how the participant is doing. The participant will receive three doses of vaccine injected into the muscle of the upper arm. After each injection the participant will be asked to remain at the study site for at least 30 minutes after the participant receives the study vaccine. The results of all of the participants blood tests, just like all other laboratory test results, will be provided to the Investigators, Sponsor, and vaccine developer. Positive HIV and viral hepatitis test results will be reportable to local health authorities according to local laws. The participant will be asked to refrain from excessive physical activities and alcohol consumption within 2 days before each clinic visit to avoid possible confusing effects on laboratory tests.

Train of Four Motor Point Stimulation and Monitoring

The assessment of neuromuscular blockage is common practice in the operating room, in which such agents are employed. Still today, the use of simple hand held stimulators and visual monitoring of these responses are the norm. The investigators want to study the potential for employing a non‐invasive quantitative device with built in sensors that will hopefully accurately determine the degree of neuromuscular blockade. This system utilizes commonly employed train of four (TOF) electrical stimulation pulses, an incorporated force sensor and an automated detection system. This system will not only utilized pre‐blockade, but also throughout an entire surgical procedure and during reversal therapy. For comparisons, the investigators will use both the prototype device and a standard hand held TOF for the assessment of neuromuscular blockage. In other words, the planned protocol will involve testing the effectiveness and accuracy of the device concurrently with peripheral nerve stimulation, during a procedure as is done for the current standard of care. All protocols will be carried out under the direct guidance and supervision of anesthesiologists and/or nurse anesthetists.

Donor Cellular Therapy After Cytarabine in Treating Patients With Intermediate-Risk Acute Myeloid Leukemia in Remission

This phase II trial studies how well donor cellular therapy after cytarabine works in treating patients with intermediate-risk acute myeloid leukemia with a decrease in or disappearance of signs and symptoms of cancer. Donor cellular therapy is a short-term transfusion of cells from a family member who is incompletely matched. The use of these partially matched white blood cells may help improve response to standard chemotherapy (cytarabine) and reduce some of the risks of infection, without a permanent transplant. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cytarabine, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving donor cellular therapy after cytarabine may kill more cancer cells.

Scientific evidence of conservative management of individuals with plantar fasciosis is sometimes conflicting. There is evidence that regular exercise programs are effective for this pain condition. The inclusion of other therapeutic modalities is still controversial. Some authors have suggested that the use of US-guided percutaneous electrolysis (EPE®) maybe useful for the management of chronic tendinopathies; however, no study has investigated the potential placebo effect of this intervention. The objective of this randomized clinical trial is to determine the effectiveness of US-guided percutaneous electrolysis (EPE®) versus sham US-guided percutaneous electrolysis for the management of patients with plantar fasciosis for pain, function, and disability.
