The Effect of Peer Education on Stem Cell Donation in Nursing Students

Start date: February 13, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of the study is to determine the effect of peer education on stem cell donation in nursing students on their knowledge and attitudes towards being a stem cell donor. This study is a randomized-controlled experimental design study. The dependent variable of the study is the knowledge and attitudes of nursing students towards being a stem cell donor. The independent variable is peer education on stem cell donation. The research will be carried out with nursing students studying at the Nursing Department of a university located in Istanbul. The universe of the research will be all students (N= 320) studying in the Department of Nursing in the 2022-2023 academic year. The sample of the research will consist of our friends from the nursing department who volunteered to participate in the research. In the power analysis to calculate the sample size, the sample size of the study was calculated as at least 88 for each group, with an effect size of 0.50, a margin of error of 5%, and a power of 95%. However, it was aimed to reach 100 students for each group, in case the participants were withdrawn from the study during the research and education process and the sample size could not be reached. Introductory Information Form and Stem Cell Transplant Information Form will be used to collect data. The data in the research will be collected in two stages. In the first stage, peer educators will be trained and evaluated by our consultant, who is a project internal medicine nursing specialist. In the second stage, peer educators will train and evaluate peer students. After our students studying in the nursing department who meet the sampling criteria are informed about the study, informed consent forms will be signed by face-to-face interview. Peer students will be randomly assigned to the intervention (100 people) and control (100 people) groups according to the randomization list prepared in advance. Peer educators will train nursing students in the intervention group with the peer education model. No application will be made to the control group. Pre-test data will be obtained by applying the measurement tools to both groups at the beginning of the study. After the intervention group is trained, the Stem Cell Transplant Information Form will be filled in at the first follow-up at the 3rd month and at the second follow-up at the 6th month. The follow-up of the students in the control group will be done in a similar way. The results will be analyzed with the SPSS program. In the analysis of socio-demographic data, number, percentage, mean, median (median), standard deviation will be used. In the data showing normal distribution, Independent Samples T test will be used for comparisons between two groups, one of the parametric tests, and One Way ANOVA test will be used if there are 3 or more groups. For data that does not show normal distribution, the Mann-Whitney U test will be used for comparisons between two groups, one of the non-parametric tests, and the Kruskall Wallis test if there are 3 or more groups. As a result of this study, the effect of peer education and training on the stem cell donation knowledge levels of nursing students and their attitudes towards stem cell donation will be evaluated.

Influence of Different Teaching Strategies on the Academic Performance and Caring of Nursing Students

Start date: March 3, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The participants in this study are college students with studying long-term care. After different teaching strategies, the students are hypothesised to improve their caring ability in the future and apply rhythmic muscle training programmes. Therefore, this study will explore the relationship amongst three different teaching strategies of nursing students through multimedia audio-visual, multimedia audio-visual and experiential learning programmes and teachers' personal demonstration and experiential learning, as well as identify their relationship with caring ability.

The Effect of Cooperative Learning Based Simulation Practice on Sustainability in Care

Start date: October 10, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Nurses, who are an individual interacting with their environment, a professional member of the nursing profession providing uninterrupted care to people, and a part of society, are in a very important position in terms of reshaping the interaction of people with environment. For this, they should be supported to gain cognitive and affective competence on issues such as holistic health understanding and relationship between sustainability and nursing care during nursing education. The planned study aims to evaluate the effect of simulation practice based on cooperative learning on developing knowledge, skills and attitudes in nursing students about sustainability in nursing care. The universe of the study, which was planned as a randomized controlled study in an experimental design, will consist of 3rd year nursing students at Düzce University, Department of Nursing. Data will be collected using the Descriptive Characteristics Form, Nursing Sustainability Information Form, the Debriefing Session Form, Sustainability Attitudes in Nursing Survey (SANS-2), and Ecocentric, Anthropocentric and Antipathic Attitude Toward Environment Scale.

The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of screen-based simulation method on nursing students' attitudes and practices about intimate partner violence against women.

NCT ID: NCT05312749 Completed - Anxiety Clinical Trials

The Effect of Web Based Progressive Muscle Relaxation Exercise on Clinical Stress and Anxiety of Nursing Students

Start date: September 27, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Purpose: The study was conducted to examine the effect of web-based progressive muscle relaxation exercise on the perceived stress and anxiety level of nursing students who were in clinical practice for the first time. Method: This randomized controlled study was conducted at a state university in Turkey. The sample of the study consisted of a total of 66 nursing students, 36 of whom were control and 30 interventions, who were educated in the 2021-2022 academic year, were in clinical practice for the first time and agreed to participate in the research. The intervention group was asked to perform a total of 36 sessions of progressive muscle relaxation exercise, 3 days a week for 12 weeks. Data; It was collected using the "Sociodemographic Characteristics Form", "State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (DSQ)" and "Perceived Stress Inventory (PSI)".

NCT ID: NCT05283187 Completed - Stress Clinical Trials

The Effect of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy Program Applied to Nursing Students

Start date: December 11, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Among the stress factors of nursing students are traumatic experiences such as death and encountering a dying patient from the first moments of their education years, fear of making mistakes in the clinic, patient care, not getting enough support from the instructor or clinic staff, and communication problems. Exposure to long-term and uncontrollable stress negatively affects students' professional identity development and health. Students who cannot cope with their stress feel stress at a higher level and as a result they may experience anxiety and depression. It is important for nurse candidates to graduate by being supported in all aspects, both in terms of individual and professional development. For this reason, nursing educators should use effective and innovative interventions to help students recognize the stress they experience and help them reduce stress. Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy Program (MBCT) is one of these programs. Although studies with MBCT are found in the literature, our country In the literature, no randomized controlled studies were found with nursing students. In line with this information, it was thought that mindfulness-based studies were needed. This study was planned to determine the effect of MBCT program on depression, anxiety, stress and cognitive flexibility of nursing students.

The Effect of Virtual Game Simulation on Nursing Diagnosis and Goal Setting

Start date: March 31, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The study will be conducted to evaluate the effect of virtual game simulation on nursing diagnosis and goal setting skills of first year nursing students. Virtual game simulations are one of the game-based teaching methods used in nursing education with the technological developments experienced. Virtual game simulation is a two-dimensional virtual computer game based on real clinical scenarios. The use of virtual game simulations in nursing education is limited. In the researches on the subject, it is seen that the virtual game simulations of nursing students; It has been determined that it increases knowledge, psychomotor skills, motivation, satisfaction, self-efficacy, self-confidence, provides a real clinical experience, and prepares students for exams compared to a written case study. In the research, it is aimed to use virtual game simulations in nursing process teaching, which is an area where it has not been used before, and to determine its effect on the diagnosis and goal setting skills of first-year nursing students.
