Strengthening Palliative Care in Primary Health Care Through Knowledge Enhancement

The implementation of palliative care has been started in Indonesia since 2007. This was declared by Ministry of health regulation (SK Menkes no 812/Menkes/SK/2007). However, there has been a slow development in palliative care compared to other Asian countries. One of the reasons is the lack of knowledge and skills among health care professionals in Indonesia. Primary Heath Center (PHC) is at the frontline in the health care system in Indonesia to provide care for patients. Its function is especially important in the Universal Health Coverage era. Studies have shown that PHC's nurses' knowledge on palliative care is still limited since the integration of palliative care into the nursing curriculum just started 2-3 years ago. Also, this curriculum integration is still limited in some Universities. Continuing nursing education (CNE) is one of the ways to enhance nurses' knowledge and skills. CNE for palliative care in Indonesian training programs has not been structurally established yet. It is fragmented in its application into some areas and has not been applied for the majority of areas in Indonesia. Investigators aim to develop a palliative care training for PHC nurses using an online format. It will be done in several steps. Firstly, investigators are starting by conducting a review to collect information on what topics are suitable for PHC nurses. Secondly, investigators are developing modules and other educational tools (a virtual education package). Thirdly, those educational packages will be then evaluated by experts. Next, the education package will be integrated into eLOK (e-learning: open for knowledge sharing) at Universitas Gadjah Mada. After that, training for PHC nurses in Yogyakarta using eLOK will be conducted under the acronym: SPARK or Strengthening PAlliative caRe in the community by enhancing nurses' Knowledge (Sinau PAliatif Rame-rame karo eLOK). The effectiveness of SPARK will be measured with a Randomized Control Trial. Investigators will also collect more information on the feasibility of this program using qualitative data collection since investigators expect to refine this program to be applied in a larger area in Indonesia.

The Effect of Massage, Wipe Bathing and Tub Bathing on Physiological Measurements of Late Premature Newborns

Purpose: This randomized experimental study aimed to analyze the effect of massage, wipe bathing and tub bathing of late premature newborns on their physiological measurements. Design and Methods: . This randomized experimental study was conducted on 192 newborns at the gestational week of 34 or higher in the newborn intensive care unit of a university hospital. The researcher applied massage (n: 48), tub bathing (n: 48), and wipe bathing (n: 48) to the newborns. The control group (n: 48) received no intervention except for the routine clinical practices. The newborns' physiological measurements before, immediately after and 30 minutes after the interventions were taken and recorded on the "Newborn Follow-up Form." The statistical analysis was performed using percentages, means, and ANOVA test.

Evaluation of ARFC Masks Equipped With CF5 Filter in the Care Unit to Allow a Wider Distribution of FFP2 Masks (Covid-19).

The current outbreak of Covid-19 requires the wearing of FFP2 respiratory protective devices by healthcare personnel to limit their contamination. However, there is currently a shortage of masks in France due to insufficient national stocks while the disease is spreading. There is an urgent need to save FFP2 masks to enable healthcare personnel to continue to provide care in complete safety. Contamination of staff due to insufficient masks would have consequences by limiting access to care for infected patients and putting caregivers at potential risk of death. Caregiver protection is also intended to contain the risk of nosocomial epidemics. We propose the use of ARFC masks by Covid-19+ units. These ARFC masks provide optimal security against the risk of aerosolization of contaminated biological liquids. They are masks modified to be usable by civilians, resulting from the technology of combat masks, specially designed for use in NRBC (Nuclear, Radiological, Biological and Chemical) atmosphere.

Psychological Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on Student Nurses

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared in early 2020 the emergence of a new highly contagious SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus responsible for a global public health emergency. In France, the first cases of contamination have been reported since the end of January 2020, and the first death in mid-February 2020. Then, data published by Public Healh France reported an increasing and rapidly exponential number of contaminations. First cases have been identified on a cluster mode, then rapidly spreading in some French departments and regions, indicating rapid kinetics of virus spread. Given the magnitude of the situation both French territory and neighboring European territories (mainly Italy), the government mobilized the entire health system to critically manage this epidemic. This exceptional and unprecedented pandemic deeply impacted the health structures, disrupting healthcare organizations. All caregivers, including all student nurses, actively participated in the mobilization and strengthening of care teams. The health crisis exposed the population of caregivers to potentially traumatic events which can have major repercussions on their health state. The description and identification of the risk factors of the occurrence of post traumatic stress disorders in student nurses during the health crisis would allow to provide avenues for improving training devices and to facilitate health workers access to specific psychological care particularly dedicated to the student nurses population needs.

Effects of Aerobic Exercise Training on Nurses' Sleep Quality, Fatigue, Attention and Cortisol Profile

Shift work in nursing has been found to result in sleep disruption and sleep deprivation, and in sleepiness or fatigue at work. Slow reaction, insufficient attention and poor judgement often come with increased fatigue, which contributes to a high risk of accident and patient safety. Studies have shown that aerobic exercise is helpful in promoting high sleep quality. The study is conducted a prospective parallel randomized trial is performed to 60 nurses with low sleep quality. The subjects are randomly assigned to: (i) the experimental group, in which aerobic exercise training is given; (ii) the control group, in which the subjects kept their original lifestyles. The study aims to investigate the effects of aerobic exercise training on nurses' sleep quality, fatigue, attention and cortisol profile.
