Neck pain is considered one of the very common cause of musculoskeletal pain. It is 4th leading cause of disability with a prevalence ranges between 30% and 50% among general population. cervical pain is among 5 most contributing factors in causing years lived with disability. Mechanical neck pain is identified by neck pain that gets evoked by sustained neck postures, neck mobility and by the palpation of cervical muscles. diagnosis is made through history and physical examination and can be helpful in differentiating from other causes of neck pain. functional impairments suffered by mechanical neck pain patients include weakness of deep cervical flexors, because of activation of superficial cervical muscles, reduced mobility of cervical spine, development of forward head posture, altered proprioception and disturbed balance leading to functional disability and decline in health related quality of life. there are different treatment approaches that include pharmacotherapy, manual therapy, active exercises, stretching, traction and electrotherapy. physiotherapy is often the first line treatment approach for individuals with mechanical, idiopathic and insidious neck pain but manual therapy is preferred through its biomechanical and neurophysiological responses that eventually leads to reduction in pain and improved function in clinical practice.thoracic manipulation and kinesio taping has proved to be very effective in treating mechanical neck pain patients according to several studies despite of their certain limitations. this study aims at evaluating effects of kinesio taping combined with thoracic manipulation in mechanical neck pain patients.

Effects of Diaphragmatic Resistance Training in People With Chronic Neck Pain.

With increasing usage of electronic devices and sedentary lifestyle, chronic neck pain has become a more prevalent musculoskeletal disorder around the world. Many impairments have been identified in people with chronic neck pain including pain, muscle weakness, proprioceptive deficits and altered breathing pattern. Diaphragm is the key muscle for inspiration and also plays an important role in spinal stability. Previous studies have found that diaphragm functions are related to the stability of the lumbar spine through the fascial, neural and visceral systems. Diaphragmatic resistance training thus could have some positive effects on reducing pain and disability in people with low back pain. However, to date how diaphragmatic resistance training would affect chronic neck pain is still unknown. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of diaphragmatic resistance training on pain, disability and movement quality in people with chronic neck pain.

Effect of Auricular Vagus Stimulating in Non Specific Chronic Neck Pain

The aim of our study is to compare the efects of conventional treatment and vagus nerve stimulation on pain, normal joint movement, disability and sleep in non-specific chronic neck pain. 36 patients aged between 18 and 65 years with non-specific neck pain participated in our randomly planned study. All these patients were divided into 2 groups. Demographic and physical characteristics of the patients were recorded. The first group was treated with auricular vagus nerve stimulation. Conservatire treatment that consists of hotpack, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) and therapeutic ultrasound was applied to the second group. In addition to their treatment, some home exercises were given and tought. Pain was assessed with a visual analog scale (VAS). Muscle strength was evalvated with a digital hand dynamometer. Neck normal joınt motion was evaluated with goniometer clinometer which is a mobile phone application. While disability was mensured with the neck disability index, sleep quality was evalvated with the Pittsburg sleep questionnaire. All the measurements were recorded before the trearment and after the 15 session treatment.

Comparative Effect of MEP With or Without Current Emission in the Treatment of Cervical Pain in MTrPs of the Trapezius

Myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) is initial to other pathologies such as neck pain or tension headaches; the symptoms that are located on the area of myofascial trigger points (MTrPs) of specific references in different muscles. MTrPs are palpable, tense bands found in stiff muscle that cause pain and swelling. They affect the disruptive soft tissues, resulting in deterioration of the muscle and fascia; effects that can be transferred further, through the myofascial chain to distant tissues, inducing the referred pain that is the main feature of MPS. MTrPs are treated with stretching, massage, analgesics, acupuncture, dry needling, electrical stimulation, and ultrasound. Percutaneous microelectrolysis (MEP®) is a new technique that uses galvanic current of low intensity and high density. Based on the previous reviews, the investigators consider that the use of MEP in individuals who have MTrPs in the trapezius is more effective than acupuncture treatment. Objectives: To assess the effect of MEP as a technique for treating pain in MTrPs of the trapezius muscle compared to without current emission, analyzing function, pain and strength in MTrPs before and after both treatments.

Ultrasound-guided Versus Combined Ultrasound and Fluoroscopy-guided Cervical Selective Nerve Root Block for Lower Cervical Radiculopathy: Non-inferiority Randomized Controlled Study

Cervical radiculopathy is a pain and/or sensorimotor deficit syndrome that is defined as being caused by compression of a cervical nerve root .The compression can occur as a result of disc herniation, spondylosis, instability, trauma, or rarely, tumors. Patient presentations can range from complaints of pain, numbness, and/or tingling in the upper extremity to electrical type pains or even weakness. The clinical overlap between cervical radiculopathy and peripheral nerve entrapment syndromes and their nearly ubiquitous nature makes understanding of and identification of these entities mandatory for all practitioners The cervical spinal nerves exit the spinal cord and are oriented obliquely toward their respective neural foramen .The neural foramen is made up of the facet joint posteriorly and the intervertebral disc anteriorly. The superior and inferior borders are comprised of the pedicles of the vertebral bodies above and below, respectively. The foramina are largest in the upper cervical spine and gradually narrow distally, with the C7/T1 foramina being the narrowest. The most common causes of nerve root compression are spondylosis of the facet joint and herniation of the intervertebral disc.Hypermobility of the facet joint leads to ligamentous hypertrophy as well as bony hypertrophy. An increase in the size of the superior articulating process from the distal vertebra causes compression of the nerve. Intervertebral disc herniations can also cause nerve root compression from the anterior aspect of the foramen. Disc herniations can either be acute or chronic. Imaging modalities and electrophysiologic testing (EMG & NCV) play an important role in the diagnosis and localization of cervical radiculopathy. The first test that is typically done is plain x-ray. Computed tomography is the most sensitive test for examination of the bony structures of the spine. Initial strategies in the treatment of cervical radiculopathy are typically Conservative therapies including multiple pharmacologic agents, immobilization, physical therapy, manipulation, traction, and TENS . Traditionally, cervical spine injection performed under fluoroscopy or computed tomography guidance. However, these imaging tools are not able to visualize small vessels, and incidences such as brainstem or spinal cord infarction may occur. These complications are believed to be caused by inadvertent injection of therapeutic agents into the vertebral or radicular arteries. Therefore, accidental puncture of vessels must be prevented when performing neck injection procedures. Recently, high-resolution musculoskeletal ultrasound (US) can be used to identify the target root and the nearby vessels. The advantage of using US as a guidance tool is that it does not expose patients or medical personnel to radiation such as fluoroscopy or computed tomography guidance. Ultrasound allows good visualization of the soft tissue such as abnormal blood vessels in the foramen and around the nerve root, which further enables accurate needle placement and avoids the risk of intravascular injections. In addition, US-guided procedures have a shorter duration compared to those guided by fluoroscopy and do not result in contrast medium-related allergic reactions . As a result, US-guided cervical nerve root block (US-CRB) is a safe alternative treatment technique that can be used in the treatment of upper extremity radicular pain.

Neck pain is in fourth place among the pathologies that result in the state of disability. Acute neck pain improves greatly within 2 months, while neck pain that persists for more than 3 months takes the form of chronic neck pain. Pain adversely affects people's activities of daily living. Treatment applications such as electrotherapy, hot and cold applications are applied for purposes such as reducing pain and muscle spasm and correcting functions. In addition to such treatment options, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) and foam roller therapy have been started to be applied in many disease groups in recent years and have attracted great attention. iASTM and Foam Roller is a technique that involves the use of tools in disorders of musculoskeletal pathology and to help heal soft tissues. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of foam roller technique with instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization technique in individuals of different ages with chronic non-specific neck pain. According to the data obtained, the techniques the investigators will use, together with physiotherapy programs, contribute to the treatment of individuals with chronic non-specific neck pain and to the literature.is expected to provide.
