Filter by:Cervical sprain also known as whiplash-associated disorder is the result of a combined injury between extension/flexion of the soft tissues of the cervical spine due to an acceleration-deceleration mechanism of energy transfer to the neck. The Neck-Specific Exercise Program focuses on relearning motor skills, neck muscle endurance, and postural correction. Telehealth improves patient satisfaction, overcomes barriers to access to physiotherapy services and reduces the costs of musculoskeletal care. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of the neck specific exercise program by telerehabilitation compared to the usual intervention in functional recovery in adults with acute cervical sprain grade I and II at the first level of care. Material and Methods: This is a randomized clinical trial, the effectiveness of the telerehabilitation program is determined by the Neck Disability Index (NDI) and will be compared against the usual intervention. Participants assigned to the telerehabilitation program will complete a 12-week intervention consisting of 5 weekly sessions of 30 minutes of pre-recorded video, with a frequency of 2-3 times a day. The usual care group will be instructed to follow their doctors' orders during the 12-week intervention period. For each group, baseline measurements were made at 2, 6 and 12 weeks. Time to develop: The protocol has a duration of follow-up of the patients of 12 weeks.
The study was conducted to determine the effects of respiratory muscle training on pulmonary function and musculoskeletal parameters in patients with chronic neck pain. It included 43 patients, 20-40 years old males and females having non-specific chronic neck pain for more than three months and with low maximum voluntary ventilation (MVV) values were included. Control group (n=21) received conventional physiotherapy with diaphragmatic breathing exercises and experimental group (n=23) received conventional physiotherapy with specially designed respiratory exercise protocol. It concluded that RMT in addition to conventional physiotherapy is effective to improve musculoskeletal and pulmonary parameters in CNP patients.
To determine the immediate effects of cervical spine manipulation on pressure pain sensitivity on upper trapezius trigger point. it was a randomized control trial including 66 patients at physiotherapy OPD of railway rehabilitation center from August 2019 to December 2019, Railway General Hospital Pakistan and Max Rehab and decompression center Max health Hospital G8 Islamabad. The subjects were randomly divided into two groups (group control and experimental) by free envelope method.
Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the immediate effects of Post Isometric Relaxation (PIR) Technique on pain threshold, pain severity and joint range of motion of the cervical region in healthcare workers with neck pain. Method: A total of 30 male and female participants aged 20-45 were randomly divided into two groups (Post Isometric Relaxation (PIR) Technique and Control Group). PIR group participants were under a single session of PIR application with 10 repetitions to m.supraspinatus, the upper part of the m.trapeze and m.levator scapula in addition to classical Swedish massage for neck and upper thoraric region. Control group participants received only classical Swedish massage to the cervical and upper thoracic region. Pain severity (Visual Analog Scale), Pain threshold (digital algometer), range of servical motion (goniometer) were measured at baseline and immediately after the single-session PIR Techniques.
The aim of this study is to characterize the distribution of pain phenotypes in people with chronic neck pain and to determine the effects of pain phenotypes on pain severity, functional status and quality of life. Participants will be examined to determine the type of pain and questions will be asked to assess pain severity and impact.
This investigation aims to investigate the effectiveness of Pulse Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF) on neck pain, cervical range of motion, pressure pain threshold and quality of life in patients with nonspecific chronic neck pain compared to cervical therapeutic exercises.
this study will apply a modified cervical exercise that combined McKenzie's and Kendall's exercises, consisted of neck extension exercises and stretching of the pectoralis muscles at the same time. Although they only required a short time to complete, the exercises proved being effective in improving forward head posture.
Structural brain alterations in pain-related areas have been demonstrated in patients with nonspecific neck pain. While manual therapy combined with therapeutic exercise is an effective management for neck pain, its underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. The primary objective of this trial is to investigate the effects of manual therapy combined with therapeutic exercise on brain imaging biomarkers in patients with chronic nonspecific neck pain. The secondary objectives are to assess neurochemical biomarkers, clinical features of neck pain, cervical range of motion and cervical muscle strength.
Chronic neck pain is an important health problem in modern society and is frequently encountered today. Approximately 10% of the adult population experiences neck pain at least once in their lives. Anamnesis of the patient with neck pain; It should include the patient's complaints, illness history, family history, social status, work life and leisure activities. The age of the patient, the severity of the symptoms, the mechanism of the injury, the activity history, the duration of the symptoms, the location and limits, the spread of the pain, the relationship of the complaints with the change in position, the restrictions during movement, and the sleeping positions should be taken into account. In addition, past diseases, operations and current diseases, medications used should be recorded. Among chronic pains, neck pain ranks second after low back pain. Physical stresses in daily living activities, maintaining static posture and sleeping habits, carrying bags and weights in the wrong position, muscle imbalance are important factors in neck pain. Although cervical spine involvements have a great effect on neck pain, almost all of them have paravertebral muscle spasm, especially trapezius muscle spasm. Physiotherapy applications are widely used in the treatment of chronic neck pain.
This study will be conducted to identify the difference between the effect of of cervicothoracic junction mobilization and autogenic Muscle Energy Technique. on neck pain, cervical range of motion, cervical proprioception and neck disability in mechanical neck pain patients with cervicothoracic junction hypomobility.
