Filter by:The purpose of the study is to improve treatment for newly referred patients with migraine and tension-type headache to the Danish Headache Center. All patients will recieve an electronic questionnaire just before the first visit concerning their current and previous history of headache and headache treatment. Half of them will enter a special telephone-intervention (TeII) program with two planned phone-calls after 8 and 16 weeks from first visit. The other half of patients will follow the normal follow-up program. All patients will be seen by a headache specialist after 6 months and will be asked to fill in a follow-up electronic questionnaire.
An open pilot study, non-controlled, single center investigation.
Migraine is a neurological disease characterized by moderate or severe headache, associated with nausea, vomiting, and/or sensitivity to light and sound. This study will assess the safety and efficacy of the combination use of ubrogepant for the acute treatment of migraine headache in participants taking atogepant once daily for preventive treatment of migraine. Ubrogepant is an approved drug for the acute treatment of migraine. Atogepant is an approved drug for the preventive treatment of EM. Approximately 235 adult participants with EM will be enrolled in approximately 45 sites in the United States. Participants will receive oral atogepant tablets once daily (QD) for 12 weeks followed by continued atogepant treatment with ubrogepant tablets taken as needed for the next 12 weeks. There may be higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. Participants will attend regular visits during the study at a hospital or clinic. The effect of the treatment will be checked by medical assessments, blood tests, checking for side effects and completing questionnaires.
The overall aims of the study are: Aim 1: Estimate effect sizes: To estimate the effects of dCBT-I on insomnia symptoms compared to a control group (sleep hygiene education) and estimate the relationship between changes in insomnia symptoms and the reduction in migraines. Aim 2: Explore mechanisms of change: To explore the mechanisms underlining the change in migraine symptoms. Aim 3: Assess barriers to conducting a full-scale RCT: To collect data on recruitment pace and dropouts in both groups, which will help refine the methodology and maximise uptake and retention of a full-scale randomised control trial (RCT). The investigators will conduct qualitative interviews with a select number of participants and practitioners to identify motivators/barriers in uptake of a digitalised version of CBT-I.
Observational analytic study with a prospective cohort design. Patients with episodic and chronic migraine that have responded to monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) versus calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) or its receptor with positive response will be included. A headache diary will be completed in a daily basis. The primary outcome will be the time elapsed between the discontinuation of the monoclonal antibody and the return to the clinical situation at the moment of the mAbs onset. The potential variables that may be associated with a more sustained benefit will be explored.
INTRODUCTION: It is very common that migraine patients could refer neck pain during or after the pain phase of migraine, suggesting that migraine pathophysiological mechanisms could be effective in activating neck pain pathways and be part of the migraine attack. Due to the therapeutic effect of multimodal physical therapy (mobilization and/or manipulation plus exercises) on several pain conditions arising from articular and/or muscular structures such as neck pain, and given the close clinical, anatomical and pathogenetic bi-directional relationship between neck pain and migraine, it would be of interest to evaluate the effectiveness of the physical treatment of the neck region in migraine pain. PURPOSE: to evaluate the efficacy of a combined multimodal physical therapy approach plus usual care vs. usual care alone in subjects with episodic and chronic migraine with concomitant cervical musculoskeletal dysfunctions. STUDY DESIGN: this is a prospective, parallel group, randomized clinical trial. METHODS: A total of 56 subjects aged 18-65 who meet criteria for episodic or chronic migraine with concomitant cervical musculoskeletal dysfunctions will be randomly assigned to receive, musculoskeletal focused multimodal physical therapy (16 sessions over 8 weeks) plus usual care treatment vs. usual care alone. CONFLICT OF INTEREST: not declared.
The purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy and safety of daily and every other day dosing of rimegepant to placebo as a preventive treatment for episodic migraine.
Migraine is characterized by attacks of throbbing, moderate or severe headache, often associated with nausea, vomiting, and/or sensitivity to light and/or sound. The study will assess safety and tolerability of atogepant when added to BOTOX, as well as prospectively evaluate the efficacy of add-on atogepant for migraine prevention. Adverse events and change in disease activity will be monitored. Atogepant is an investigational drug being developed to prevent chronic migraine. Approximately 75 adult participants will be enrolled at approximately 30 sites in the United States. All participants will receive atogepant oral tablet once a day (QD) during the 24-week treatment period, in addition to their standard of care Botox. There may be higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. Participants will attend regular visits during the study at a hospital or clinic. The effect of the treatment will be checked by medical assessments, blood tests, checking for side effects and completing questionnaires.
In a real-world population of adults with migraine, the investigators would like to investigate whether 12.5 mg almotriptan is non-inferior to 50 mg ubrogepant in terms of pain freedom at 2 hours after drug intake.
In a real-world population of adults with migraine, the investigators would like to investigate whether 50 mg diclofenac potassium is non-inferior to 75 mg rimegepant in terms of pain freedom at 2 hours after drug intake.
