Filter by:The purposes of this study are to assess whether subjects treated with BOTOX will: 1. have a decrease in the frequency and intensity of migraine headaches 2. experience improvements in quality of life 3. experience a reduction in the frequency of health care services obtained.
The circadian system with its centre in the hypothalamus is involved in migraine pathophysiology. Whether it plays a pivotal role is not clarified. The investigators postulate that a destabilized circadian system may increase migraine attack susceptibility, and that stabilization by supplying melatonin a migraine preventive effect will be achieved. A previous open label study has shown effects that certainly warrant a placebo controlled study.
Subjects enrolled at 2 investigative sites will complete 3 visits. Following Visit 1, during a 1-month Baseline Period, subjects will treat with their usual medication and document any warning signs (Prodrome pre-headache) that a migraine will occur. Following randomization (like a flip of the coin) at Visit 2, subjects will treat daily with topiramate or during Prodrome with frovatriptan. Subjects complete a 2-month Treatment Period before exit at Visit 3.This study will compare the effectiveness of daily treatment vs. treatment during the pre-headache phase for prevention of migraine.

Migraine headache occurs frequently in women more than men and is associated with symptoms not only of significant pain but also of symptoms typically including of photophobia, phonophobia, nausea and vomiting. Many migraine patients report difficulty in cognition from lack of concentration, difficulty in word finding or inability to remember. Many of these cognitive symptoms seem to be independent of the pain intensity and may occur completely separately from the headache pain but can be disabling. It is likely that the frequency and importance of cognitive symptoms associated with migraine are underreported. The Mental Efficacy Workload Test (MEWT) is a computerized battery that is designed to be an efficient and accurate measure of cognition during migraine headache. Treximet is a new migraine treatment recently FDA approved for the treatment for the relief of acute migraine that may be effective for the cognitive symptoms for migraine patients who have a history of cognitive dysfunction during a migraine headache. The primary efficacy parameter is to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment with Treximet versus placebo in patients with acute migraine headache measuring neuropsychological function using the MEWT during the migraine and comparing that score with a prior MEWT score when the patient had no migraine symptoms. A double blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study was chosen so that each patient may be her or his own control. It is the intent of this study to determine the type and intensity of cognitive dysfunction associated with migraine headache and to what extent that Treximet may relieve the cognitive dysfunction in a safe and effective manner.
Patients suffering from migraine will be randomly allocated to one of two different behavioral interventions: - mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR) an eight week intervention program based different meditation & yoga techniques and teaching information regarding the relationship between stress and health. - into an active control group teaching three times within eight weeks relaxation techniques (progressive muscle relaxation PMR) and giving psychoeducation on migraine. The investigators will measure the frequency and intensity of migraine attacks before during and after the intervention as well as secondary variables on quality of life and psychological functioning. The hypothesis is that patients allocated to the MBSR intervention will reduce the frequency of their migraine attacks compared to the active control group and compared to their own baseline.
Assess the safety and efficacy of Staccato Loxapine in patients with moderate to severe migraine headache with or without aura in an outpatient setting.
Evaluation of ADX10059 to prevent migraine attacks
This study will provide additional efficacy data for rizatriptan when used for an acute migraine attack in patients already taking topiramate for migraine prophylaxis.
This study will use an open-label design to evaluate the safety of NP101. Adult subjects who meet the enrollment criteria will be treated with NP101 (sumatriptan succinate iontophoretic transdermal patch) for acute migraine attacks over a 12 month period.
