NCT ID: NCT00033553 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Combination Chemotherapy and Computer-Planned Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Unresectable Stage III Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: March 2002
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Computer systems that allow doctors to create a 3-dimensional picture of the tumor to plan treatment may result in more effective radiation therapy. It is not yet known which chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy regimen is more effective in treating non-small cell lung cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase II trial to compare the effectiveness of different combination chemotherapy regimens and 3-dimensional radiation therapy in treating patients who have unresectable stage III non-small cell lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00033527 Active, not recruiting - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

INS316 Compared With Saline for Sputum Collection in Diagnosing Lung Cancer

Start date: n/a
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: INS316 may produce a better sputum sample for laboratory analysis and may provide a less invasive method of diagnosing lung cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized diagnostic trial to compare the effectiveness of INS316 with that of saline for sputum collection in diagnosing lung cancer in patients suspected of having lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00033410 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Chemotherapy, Tirapazamine, and Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: March 2002
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Tirapazamine may make the tumor cells more sensitive to radiation therapy. Combining chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and tirapazamine may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of combining chemotherapy with tirapazamine and radiation therapy in treating patients who have stage II or stage III non-small cell lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00033384 Completed - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

CI-1040 in Treating Patients With Advanced Breast, Colon, Pancreatic, or Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: February 2002
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: CI-1040 may stop the growth of tumors by blocking the enzymes necessary for cancer cell growth and by stopping blood flow to the tumor. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of CI-1040 in treating patients who have metastatic or unresectable breast, colon, pancreatic, or non-small cell lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00032084 Terminated - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

S0002 - A Program to Quit Smoking With or Without Bupropion in Treating Patients With Stage I or II Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Who Have Undergone Surgery

Start date: January 2002
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: A program that includes bupropion may be more effective in helping early-stage lung cancer patients to quit smoking. It is not yet known if a program to quit smoking is more effective with or without bupropion. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to determine the effectiveness of a program to quit smoking with or without bupropion in treating patients who have undergone surgery for stage I or stage II non-small cell lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00032032 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Combination Chemotherapy Plus Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: May 2002
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Combining chemotherapy and radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase I/II trial is studying the side effects and best dose of radiation therapy when given with combination chemotherapy and to see how well they work in treating patients with non-small cell lung cancer that cannot be surgically removed.

NCT ID: NCT00031785 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Megestrol in Treating Patients Who Are Undergoing Radiation Therapy for Lung Cancer

Start date: September 1, 2000
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Megestrol helps improve appetite. It is not yet known if megestrol is effective in limiting weight loss in patients who are undergoing radiation therapy. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to determine the effectiveness of megestrol in limiting weight loss in patients who are undergoing radiation therapy for lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00031681 Completed - Clinical trials for Unspecified Adult Solid Tumor, Protocol Specific

7-Hydroxystaurosporine and Irinotecan Hydrochloride in Treating Patients With Metastatic or Unresectable Solid Tumors or Triple Negative Breast Cancer (Currently Accruing Only Triple-negative Breast Cancer Patients Since 6/8/2007)

Start date: December 2001
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of giving 7-hydroxystaurosporine together with irinotecan hydrochloride in treating patients with metastatic or unresectable solid tumors, including triple-negative breast cancer (currently enrolling only patients with triple-negative breast cancer since 6/8/2007). Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Giving 7-hydroxystaurosporine together with irinotecan hydrochloride may help kill more cancer cells by making tumor cells more sensitive to the drug.

NCT ID: NCT00030810 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Combination Chemotherapy Followed by Radiation Therapy Before Surgery in Treating Patients With Stage IIIB NSCLC

Start date: September 2001
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Combining chemotherapy with radiation therapy before surgery may shrink the tumor so that it can be removed during surgery. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy followed by radiation therapy before surgery in treating patients who have stage IIIB non-small cell lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00030771 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Preoperative Chemoradiotherapy vs. Chemotherapy Alone in NSCLC Patients

Start date: April 4, 2001
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel and cisplatin, use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Giving chemotherapy with radiation therapy before surgery may make the tumor smaller and reduce the amount of normal tissue that needs to be removed. It is not yet known if chemotherapy plus radiation therapy is more effective than chemotherapy alone before surgery in treating non-small cell lung cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying docetaxel and cisplatin with or without radiation therapy to see how well they work when given before surgery in treating patients with stage IIIA non-small cell lung cancer that has spread to lymph nodes in the chest.
