Filter by:This prospective longitudinal study will compare incidence rates of Medicare beneficiary surgical and minimally invasive intervention post index procedure, as well as harms associated with the MILD procedure, at 24 months post-treatment with MILD, tested against a control group of similar patients that have had a comparable procedure. This study will start with patients treated with a study procedure having an index date on or after January 1, 2017, and enrollment will continue until stopped by the sponsor.
To measure ligamentum flavum thickness in patients with different nationalities, sexes, heights, ages, and weights from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China with CT, explore the correlation between various factors and ligamentum flavum thickness, provide reference for pedicle screw placement and lumbar decompression surgery, develop individualized surgical programs, and can effectively reduce the incidence of unnecessary postoperative complications induced by misplacement.
The purpose of this trial is to assess whether the Total Posterior Spine System (TOPS System) is more effective than transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) when used to stabilize a single lumbar level (L2 - L5) following surgical decompression in patients diagnosed with (1) at least moderate lumbar spinal stenosis, and (2) Grade 1 spondylolisthesis (or retrolisthesis), and (3) thickening of the ligamentum flavum or scarring of the facet joint capsule. Success will be assessed by means of a composite endpoint that measures improvement in in patient reported outcomes and the absence of any major device related complications.
A prospective study investigating the effectiveness and safety in lumbar stenosis patients receiving integrative Korean medicine treatment at 3 locations of Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine through assessment of pain, functional disability, and quality of life
The rate of success 12 months after surgery is reported to be 60-65% in patients with lumbar disc herniation and 60-70% in patients with spinal stenosis. At the Back Center Copenhagen, patients with persistent low back pain caused by lumbar disc herniation and spinal stenosis are treated by a multidisciplinary team comprising rheumatologists, physiotherapists, chiropractors, and social workers according to current guidelines. Therefore we have a unique opportunity to report the long term outcome in candidates for surgery, regardless of whether they have surgery or not, after having received optimal but unsuccessful nonsurgical treatment. The purpose of this study is to answer the following questions: 1) What is the proportion of patients operated upon after referral to surgical evaluation with positive MRI findings, persistent low back pain, and poor outcome following non-operative treatment? 2) What was the outcome in these patients 2 years following referral? 3) Where any baseline variables predictive of good or poor postsurgical outcome? 4) Where there any difference in outcome in patients with or without surgery?
Back pain is a huge problem for millions of Americans, including nearly 11 million Veterans. Our older Veterans suffer the most. Citizens spend billions of dollars, yet consistently get poor results. Primary Care Providers are often tasked with diagnosing and treating Chronic Low Back Pain, even though they are often undereducated in the field. These PCPs often use advanced imaging, usually MRIs to guide care. These images often show degenerative disc disease and other common pathologies in older adults, even those who are pain free, which can lead to misdiagnosis and treatment. The investigators believe that Chronic Low Back Pain is a syndrome, a final common pathway for the expression of multiple contributors that often lie outside the spine itself. For example, hip osteoarthritis, knee pain, and even anxiety could all lessen back pain if addressed and treated probably. Investigators will measure participants' low back pain-associated disability with the well-validated RMDQ. Data will be collected at baseline and monthly via telephone. The investigators hypothesize that veterans who receive PCCET will experience significantly greater reduction in low back pain-associated disability than those who receive IAUC at six months. Investigators will also measure participants' low back pain with the 0-10 Numeric Rating Scale for Pain. Data will be collected at baseline and monthly via telephone. The goal of this study is to compare patients treated with usual care, which usually starts with imaging, versus patients who are treated by trained geriatricians who know how to recognize and address 11 key conditions that commonly drive pain and disability in older adults. The investigators believe that older patients who receive care tailored to their needs by educated PCPs will ultimately have less back pain and, more importantly, better quality of life.
This study investigate the utility of continuous oxygen insufflation during fiberoptic bronchoscope-guided intubation. One group receives oxygen via suction channel of fiberoptic bronchoscope during intubation. The other group does not receive oxygen during fiberoptic bronchoscope-guided intubation. In actual practice the patients with mild or moderate lumbar spinal stenosis symptoms receive an epidural infiltration and participate in kyphosis reeducation in first intention. Yet the kyphosis reeducation did not show a real profit in the time compared with the natural evolution of the pathology. The study assume that the spinal mobility reeducation will reduce the incidence of pain recurrences compared with the classic kyphosis reeducation.
In this prospective multi-centre double-blind trial the effect of the X-ray examinations controlled periradicular therapy should be examined in (approximately 300) adult patients with low back pain pain caused by foraminal stenosis radiculopathy or spinal stenosis. A periradicular therapy (PRT) is a special radiological, low-risk therapy for chronic back pain caused by wear and tear of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine or a herniated disc or disc bulge. Partially pain might also radiate to the hips or extremities and cause radicular symptoms.
