Pain Relief During Intravenous Cannulation in Pediatric Patients

Performing intravenous (IV) cannulation to pediatric patients might be much harder than adult ones according to their anxiety levels. However, managing adult patients during intravenous cannulation is also challenging if he or she had a noxious memory about the situation or has a low pain threshold. Therefore, it is essential to relieve the pain of an IV needle or an IV cannula insertion in the pediatric patient population. Lidocaine Hcl spray (Xylocaine 10% Oral ) will be utilized to the research group, and Serum Physiologic (Serum Fizyolojik %0,9 10 ml ampule, Biofarma İlaç San. ve Tic A.Ş., İstanbul, Turkey) will be utilized to the control group of the study. Both medications will be administrated by spraying the formula three times to an adhesive bandage and placing it to the skin that IV cannulation will be performed. After waiting for a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 15 minutes ( waiting time is closely associated with the patient's anxiety level), IV cannulation will be performed from the same area by an experienced pediatric nurse. The investigator hypothesizes that utilizing the spray form of the Lidocaine Hcl formula to the skin with an adhesive bandage before IV cannulation might lower the pain of the manipulation in pediatric patients, which might cause lower anxiety levels with stable vital signs.

Efficacy of Virtual Reality in Reducing Injection Pain and Anxiety During Local Anesthesia in Children

The aim of this study is to determine the efficacy of a virtual reality (VR) device in reducing injection pain and anxiety associated with local anesthesia in pediatric dental patients. The clinical trial is a randomized split-mouth assignment. Included patients are 8-12 years old requiring local anesthetic infiltration with conventional syringe (CS) for conservative treatment of two primary maxillary molars bilaterally. Eligible patients undergo two single-visit treatments after CFSS-DS measurement before each, whereas VR is allocated to either first or second local anesthesia procedure. Primary outcome measure will be pain felt during injection, reported by patient on visual analogue scale (VAS). Secondary outcome measures: self-reported anxiety during injection on FIS; pain-related behavior according to FLACC scale; heart-rate dynamics; patient preference to local anesthesia method - CS or CS+VR.

A Study of a New Local Anesthesia Method for Transperineal Prostate Biopsy

In comparison with transrectal prostate biopsy, transperineal prostate biopsy has the advantage of better sampling from the anterior area, low risk of infection, and no rectal bleeding. The main problems associated with the transperineal method are pain control and additional general or spinal anesthesia. Three types of anesthesia have been reported for transperineal prostate biopsy: (1) spinal anesthesia; (2) general anesthesia; and (3) local anesthesia. From the viewpoint of patient selection (general anesthesia is contraindicated in some patients) and medical cost, local anesthesia is the most suitable choice for prostate biopsy. Periprostatic block is the standard method of local anesthesia for this procedure. However, periprostatic block is insufficient for transperineal prostate biopsy due to high pain sensitivity in this region. A number of new methods to eliminate pain have been reported, including (1) periapical triangle (PAT) block, (2) paraprostatic plus sexual nerve block, and (3) periprostatic block plus pudendal block.However, there is no anatomical basis for some of these methods, and there have been no randomized controlled trials to evaluate their effectiveness, and some methods are technically difficult to learn. In the previous perineal nerve autopsy, we found that there are two branches leading into the prostate and anterior lateral prostatic tissue, which is the main site of puncture pain. There is a fixed position where the two branches appear. Therefore, this anatomical position block may be a useful site for local anesthesia. We named this location the 'transperineal prostate biopsy local anesthesia switch' (abbreviated as TPA switch). In order to validate its effect, we organized this clinical trail.

Effect of Lidocaine With Magnesium Sulfate on the Success of the Inferior Alveolar Nerve Block

68 healthy patients pulpitis and requiring root canal therapy are selected. . Sampling was done in a simple and non-experimental way from a dental clinic in Isfahan, and then the samples were randomly assigned to one of the two experimental groups (A, B) using simple random numbers. Each vial is filled with distilled water or magnesium sulfate by an individual who is unaware of the nature of the design and is not involved in the design, and each letter A or B is written. This statement is not decoded after the statistical examination. Therefore, the study is blind and blind. In this way, 60 patients are examined in 2 groups of 34 First, patients with recognized pulpitis in mandibular posterior teeth have been identified and information about them is given. Patients will be introduced to the executive phase after the required explanation and clarification of the ambiguity and written consent. After completing the patient information form by the practitioner and complying with all entry and exit criteria, the study begins on each patient. The patient records his pain as an initial pain on the Heath-Parker Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). In order to design a standard injection of the maxillary nerve block in all patients, using Aspirating Dental Injection Syringe, Novocol Ontario, Canada, the needle of the 27 mm long 35 mm (Septoject, Septodont, Saint-Maur-des- Fosses cedex, France) Lidocaine 2% with epinephrine 80000/1 mixed with magnesium sulfate or distilled water, injections in the retro-cell region and cm1 above the occlusal mandibular plan. After insertion of the needle at a rate of 3-5 mm into the tissue, aspiration was performed and about 2-3 ml / 2. Pain and Anxiety Evaluation in Children Using Different Techniques of Local Anesthesia for Dental Treatment

Fear and dental anxiety are often associated with the use of needles and syringes for local anesthesia, and painful perception during the administration of local anesthetics is often the main reason for anxiety behaviors and defensive reactions. Dental trauma originates in childhood, through experience misconduct. The objective of this study is to evaluate the pain and anxiety related to 4 different modalities of anesthesia in children. Will be selected volunteers aged between 5 and 12 years who need restorative dental treatment in posterior teeth in the upper 2 quadrants. All patients will receive 1 modality of anesthesia: conventional anesthesia (control group), computerized anesthesia, Dental Vibe anesthesia and computerized anesthesia + DentalVibe anesthesia. Evaluations will be made with physiological and behavioral criteria. For the physiological evaluation will be measured the blood pressure, respiratory rate, heart rate, oximetry and salivary cortisol before and during each anesthesia. As criteria for evaluation of anxiety will be applied the methods, Corah and modified VPT before anesthesia and modified VPT will be repeated after anesthesia. The pain will be assessed at the end of each anesthesia with Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and Wong Baker Faces. The results will be submitted to parametric and non-parametric statistical analysis, according to the data obtained in the different evaluation criteria.
