Effect of Intraocular Lens (IOL) Centration and Tilt on Visual Performance With Clareon® Vivity® IOL Implantation

The goal of this observational study is to assess the effect of intraocular lens (IOL) movement in patients who have undergone Clareon® Vivity® IOL implantation. The main question it aims to answer is: Does an association exist between IOL movement and patient quality of vision? Participants implanted with Clareon® Vivity® and Vivity® Toric IOLs will be asked to do the following: - consent to participate in the study - allow researchers to access their personal medical records - undergo a series of tests to assess the position of their IOLs and quality of vision Researchers will compare the patients' preoperative and postoperative test results to determine whether an association exists between IOL movement and patient quality of vision.

Objective and Subjective Outcomes of a Trifocal IOL in Eyes With Different AL

This prospective cohort study enrolled patients with implantation of a trifocal IOL. Only one eye of each patient was enrolled. Eyes were devided into three groups according the axial length (AL), including the short AL group, the control group and the long AL group. Manifest refraction, uncorrected and distance-corrected visual acuity at different distances, contrast sensitivity, aberrations and IOL decentration were measured three months after surgery. Spectacle independence, adverse photic phenomena, overall satisfaction and life quality were assessed with a questionnaire.

Visual Acuity After Using A New Monofocal Intraocular Lens Compared To Standard Monofocal Lens

Tolerance to Residual Astigmatism in Eyes With Vivity®

Low amounts of postoperative residual astigmatism may worsen the visual performance of patients implanted with presbyopia- correcting intraocular lenses (IOLs). Although extended depth of focus (EDoF) IOLS have introduced optical improvements, it is important to determine the tolerance of these IOLs to postoperative astigmatism. This is important for an appropriate surgical planning. Therefore, the aim of this study is to simulate and assess the impact of mild amounts of residual mixed astigmatisms with the axis oriented in different positions (vertical, oblique and horizontal) in eyes implanted with the Vivity® IOL.

New extended depth of focus intraocular lenses (IOLs) are being used in a broader spectrum of patients than trifocal IOLs. The purpose of this study is to evaluate visual improvement after cataract surgery in patients with glaucoma or ocular hypertension undergoing simultaneous cataract surgery with i-Stent implantation with the implantation of a Vivity IOL. Results will be compared with a group of glaucoma or ocular hypertension undergoing isolated cataract surgery with Vivity implantation, as well as with patients with no pathology undergoing cataract surgery and Vivity implantation

Visual Function in Subjects Implanted With Advanced Technology Intraocular Lenses

Multiple intraocular lens are nowadays available for implantation after cataract surgery. They use different technology to try to improve patient spectacle independence. It is necessary to better characterise the performence of each type of lens, as well as to define how they are affected by residual refractive errors. The purpose of this study is to evaluate visual function in patients implanted with different lenses (advanced monofocals, trifocals) in order to be able to recommend the best type of lens for each patient.

Intermediate Vision in a Driving Simulator Environment: Comparison of the J&J EYHANCE With a Conventional Monofoc. IOL

To compare (low contrast) visual acuity (VA) and contrast sensitivity (CS) - both at intermediate distances under nighttime driving conditions in a driving simulator between patients with bilateral EYHANCE IOLs OR bilateral conventional monofocal IOLs. Visual function testing in the driving simulator will be assessed without AND with (static) glare. Additionally: Assessment of individual response times, scanpath characteristics, evaluation of test retest reliability and self-evaluation of (intermediate) vision and visual impairment related to glare.

Visual Field Changes in TECNIS ZCB00 Monofocal vs. TECNIS Symfony Extended Depth of Focus Intraocular Lens Implantation

Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness worldwide. Damage to the optic nerve results in vision loss gradually. This vision loss can be detected by using visual field testing, and is a way of monitoring glaucoma progression. As this population ages, cataracts develop, and patients need to undergo cataract surgery to replace the cloudy crystalline lens with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). The standard of treatment is implantation of a monofocal IOL, but this limits depth of focus and does not allow clear vision at both distance and near without glasses post-operatively. Multifocal and trifocal lenses split light into multiple distinct foci at near, intermediate and far distances without glasses correction. However, these lenses have been shown to reduce contrast sensitivity and impair visual field testing results, and are not recommended in patients with glaucoma. The TECNIS Symfony IOL has recently been approved by Health Canada and offers an extended range of vision with a single elongated focal point to allow patients to see at both distance and near. The lens is advertised to enhance contrast sensitivity, but it is currently unknown whether the TECNIS Symfony IOL impacts visual field testing. We will study the visual field changes in patients undergoing both TECNIS ZCB00 monofocal and TECNIS Symfony extended depth of focus IOL implantation during cataract surgery. The results of this study will impact the advice cataract surgeons give to patients with glaucoma, regarding whether this population of patients would benefit from a standard monofocal IOL implantation or an extended depth of focus TECNIS Symfony IOL implantation.

A Pilot Study Simulating Multifocal Intraocular Lenses in Healthy Subjects

Age related cataracts are responsible for about 51 percent of blindness worldwide and according to the WHO affect about 20 million people, according to the WH . As cataract surgery is firstline treatment in the western world, there is a constant attempt to improve artificial intraocular lenes (IOL). As for this study, the investigators seek to compare four different IOL designs in in a psychophysiological setting, allowing to assess the impact of these IOLs on vision and psychological processing of visual information. As these IOLs also have downsides, such as reduced light intensity or image alterations, the subjective preference and overall impression shall be investigated. The healthy subjects look through a stable spectacle frame mounted onto a table, which enables the investigator to insert the different IOLs. This would allow subjective testing of IOLs before surgery.
