Trial of Post-Dated Delayed Antibiotic Prescriptions

Delayed prescriptions have been shown to lower antibiotic use for upper respiratory tract infections (which are mostly viral). This trial will test the hypothesis that if the clinician post-dates the delayed prescription by 2 days, rather than dating it on the day the patient is seen, there will be a further drop in the rate of antibiotic use.

This is a Phase 3, multi-site, non-randomized, open-label study evaluating the safety and efficacy of MK-7625A 1.5 g (ceftolozane 1 g/tazobactam 0.5 g) for the treatment of complicated urinary tract infection (cUTI) including pyelonephritis (uncomplicated or complicated pyelonephritis and complicated lower urinary tract infection) in Japanese participants. Efficacy will be primarily assessed by microbiological response defined as eradication of the baseline pathogen or pathogens.

Drug Penetration Into Bone After Repeated Oral Administration of Debio 1450 to Patients Undergoing Hip Replacement Surgery

Debio 1450 is being developed for the treatment of staph (staphylococcal) infections. How fast and completely an antibiotic penetrates into bone is used to determine how effective it might be to treat infections related to bones or joints. Since bone has fewer blood vessels than other tissue (for example lung tissue or the skin), drugs have a harder time getting into them. It is important to find out how much of the antibiotic can get into the bone to help patients with bone infections.

Ceftolozane/tazobactam is a novel antibacterial consisting of ceftolozane, a unique antipseudomonal cephalosporin, with tazobactam, a well-established β-lactamase inhibitor. This is the first study investigating the use of ceftolozane/tazobactam in pediatric participants.

A Trial to Assess Safety and Efficacy of Topical MBN-101 in Patients With Moderate/ Severe DFI

This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multi-center study, in patients with moderate to severe diabetic foot infection (DFI), that will be conducted in two parts. In Part I, patients will be enrolled into 1 of 3 escalating dose cohorts at a ratio of 3:1 (Active to Placebo). In Part II, patients will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio (Active to Placebo) based on the optimal dose demonstrated in Part I. Patients will be randomized to receive either topical application of MBN-101 or topical application of vehicle, applied directly to the target site, 3 times per week, for a minimum of 14 days and up to a maximum of 21 days. All patients will also receive systemic antibiotic treatment.

Study of Antiretroviral Therapy to Prevent HBV Intrauterine Infection

500 pregnant patients with HBeAg-positive and HBV-DNA≥ 106copies /ml who will do their pregnant check in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University will be enrolled into the study. There will be five groups to be observed. Four groups are taking tenofovir to prevent intrauterine infection during pregnancy. One group is not taking any anti-HBV virus treatments.The clinical value and effectiveness of tenofovir on blocking HBV intrauterine infection will be evaluated; The HBV-DNA infection status of placenta tissue will be checked by quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) to assess the changes of HBV-DNA of placenta after treating with tenofovir and explore the mechanism of tenofovir blocking HBV intrauterine infection. The safety of Tenofovir will be assessed as well.
