NCT ID: NCT02175550 Completed - Healthy Clinical Trials

A 5-year Clinical Evaluation Study on NobelReplace Conical Connection Implants

Start date: March 2011
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

A new Nobel Biocare implant, NobelReplace Conical Connection (NR CC) has been developed. The implant is a two piece design to allow both one- and two- stage surgical procedures. The entire implant surface has a porous titanium oxide of approximately 10µm thick (TiUnite) to promote and maintain primary stability, which later on leads to secondary stability. NR CC implants are used as the foundation for anchoring tooth replacements in either jaw. Restorations range from replacing one single tooth to an entire arch of bridgework. The implants are also intended as retentive elements for overdenture applications. The present study is designed to evaluate, after the insertion of the NR CC, the marginal bone levels and bone remodelling at the implant sites over various time points up to 5 years. Parameters as soft tissue index, pink aesthetic score (PES) and bleeding on probing (BoP) are as well evaluated together with implant success and survival rate. Using the OHIP-14 questionnaire patients satisfaction is assessed. The results of this clinical investigation will demonstrate clinical safety and reliability of the NR CC using different treatment options.

NCT ID: NCT02096978 Completed - Implant Clinical Trials

Comparing Implant Stability Using Two Accepted Techniques for Implant Sites

Start date: October 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The study will be conducted to compare two alternative techniques for dental implant placement. Both of the techniques - Osteotome and Conventional Drilling Techniques for the preparation of the implant sites (osteotomies) are accepted standards of care. The goal of the study will be to compare implant stabilities achieved with two techniques by measuring resonance frequency for each implant placed using the diagnostic device, the Osstell machine, that measures "stiffness" of the bone/implant system non-invasively. The data are represented in a quantitative value - implant stability quotient (ISQ), where a higher value indicated a higher implant stability. Since it has been well documented in the scientific literature that primary (at the time of implant placement) implant stability is a strong prerequisite for implant success (osseointegration and subsequent function on loading), the results of this study will guide the implant team in choosing the right surgical treatment protocol - the protocol that will be aimed for higher implant stability, and, therefore, for higher long-term implant success.

NCT ID: NCT01279187 Terminated - Implant Clinical Trials

The Impact of Parathyroid Hormone (PTH) on Craniofacial Osseous Regeneration in Bone

Start date: February 2011
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Good bone healing and bone build-up are necessary for the success of dental implants. Research in animals and humans has shown that a drug, called Forteo, can increase bone build-up and bone strength over time. Forteo has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in patients with a condition where bone is broken down and weakened, called osteoporosis. The investigators do not know, however, whether Forteo is effective for use in humans for improving bone healing after implant placement, and whether it will have the same bone-building and bone-strengthening effects as for patients with osteoporosis. This research study is being done to learn what effect 7 weeks of treatment with Forteo will have on bone build-up and strengthening of bone for patients receiving implants.

NCT ID: NCT01103765 Recruiting - Implant Clinical Trials

Post-dilatation for Optimization of Drug-eluting Stents (DES) Deployment Assessed by Intravascular Ultrasound Multicenter Analysis

PODIUM
Start date: April 2010
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Comparison with use of Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) analysis of two methods of percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) with drug eluting stent: After successful drug eluting stent implantation, patients were randomized into two groups: Group A had no further dilatation, and Group B had additional post-dilatation with a noncompliant balloon. The investigators performed IVUS analysis in groups A and B just before randomization and after post-dilatation in group B.

NCT ID: NCT01097499 Not yet recruiting - Analgesia Clinical Trials

Low Level Laser (LED) Use to Increase Dental Implant Stability and Post Operative Analgesia

Start date: April 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Study hypothesis: Low level laser (LED) will reduce initial bone resorption and improve primary stability of dental implant. It will also reduces post operative pain compared to patient without treatment Implant osseointegration depends on many factors including biocompatibility of implant materials, design, surface, surgical access, patient conditions, biomechanical status, and lack of primary stability. Several in vivo and in vitro studies showed the healing effect of low level laser therapy (LLLT) on bone by decreasing the initial bone resorption postoperatively and increasing the primary stability of the implant. It has also shown to have an analgesic effect intraorally when used post intraoral surgical procedures. The exact mechanism is unclear despite the fact that many hypothesis has been proposed. In our study, our goal is to present, in a randomized standardized clinical trial, the effect of LLLT on post operative implant stability assessed by resonance frequency analysis (RFA). We will assess the subjective measures of postoperative pain using visual analog scale (VAS).

ClearVoice Sound-processing Strategy for AB HiRes 120 Cochlear Implant Users

Start date: March 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to collect information about how the new sound-processing affects the ability to hear in everyday listening situations.
