Filter by:A novel immuno-assay is being evaluated for the measurement of Factor VIII. Current procedure measures a rate assay which is subject to much artefact. The hypothesis is that the new assay will give a reading of absolute quantities of FVIII which will provide a more suitable indicator of FVIII content for clotting factor manufacturers, physicians and patients.
This trial is conducted in Europe and Asia. The aim of this clinical trial is to compare two recombinant factor VIII drugs, turoctocog alfa (recombinant factor VIII (N8)) with Advate®, in haemophilia A subjects, investigating the action and safety of the drugs.
Joint damage secondary to recurrent haemarthroses and chronic synovitis represents the commonest clinical manifestation of haemophilia. Incapacitating pain, loss of joint stability and mobility, axial deviation, deterioration and decreased function are the most frequent complains in patients with severe haemophilic arthropathy In this context, the purpose of our study is to examine and analyse specific changes in gait in patients suffering from haemophilic arthropathy and determine the impact on health-related quality of life in terms of conceptual components of pain and stiffness, psychosocial stress, disability, and activity limitations as recommended by the International Classification of Function (ICF) recently published by the World Health Organization.
The purpose of this study is to collect reference data in patients with haemophilia. The study will also collect and store blood samples for potential future exploratory research in the disease area.
This is an randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study to assess the safety, tolerability and efficacy of MK-0518 compared to placebo when combined with other antiretroviral drugs, in treatment-experienced HIV-infected patients with hemophilia. Subjects enrolled in the study sign the consent form, then are randomly assigned to MK-0518 400 mg twice daily plus optimized background therapy (OBT) group or placebo plus OBT group. Each group concludes at least 50 subjects. For each patient, detection of HIV viral load and CD4+ T lymphocyte count is done at screening, and at weeks 4, 8, 12 and 24. The safety profile of MK-0518 is monitored according to patients' complaints and the results of physical and laboratory examinations. The safety and efficacy of MK-0518 400 mg b.i.d. compared to placebo, both in combination with OBT, will be assessed by review of the accumulated study data in HIV-infected patients with hemophilia.
Understanding how often the bleeding events occur in the subjects who voluntarily decide to switch from prophylaxis to on-demand and in those subjects who remain on prophylaxis. Also look into the consequences of switching treatment in QoL (quality of life), development of target joints, activity level and reasons that might influence the desire to switch.
Primary Objective: To evaluate the safety (acute effects associated with infusions, and inhibitor development), pharmacokinetics (PK), and efficacy with respect to breakthrough bleeding during prophylaxis and with respect to control of hemorrhaging in both the prophylaxis and on demand groups of IB1001 in subjects with hemophilia B. Key Secondary Objectives: To evaluate the ability of IB1001 to provide coverage against bleeding under surgical circumstances; To evaluate the long-term safety and efficacy of IB1001
The purpose of this study is to collect safety information associated with the use of Xyntha in a usual care setting. Upon meeting eligibility criteria, patients will be required to have approximately 5 study visits over a 2 year period. Procedures completed throughout the study include collection of vital signs, physical exams, and laboratory assessments. Patients will be required to complete an infusion log for each Xyntha infusion.
This study will be investigating the safety and efficacy of Xyntha (moroctocog alfa (AF-CC)) in male patients less than 6 years old. Annualized bleeding rates and physician / caregiver assessments of responses to treatment will be characterized. FVIII inhibitor levels will be assessed throughout the study.
The purpose of this study is to collect data around the period of the conversion from plasma-derived Factor IX (pdFIX) to BeneFIX. The main information collected will be: a retrospective history of the bleedings in the 3-month period before the conversion, the recovery with pdFIX just before the conversion and with BeneFIX just after the conversion, and a prospective history of the bleedings in the 3 month period following the conversion.
