This study looks at whether niacin improves reverse cholesterol transport (RCT) in healthy volunteers. 3H-Cholesterol will be used to measure RCT by analyzing changes in the tracer activity in total plasma, lipoproteins, red blood cells (RBCs) and stool. The hypothesis is that niacin augments reverse cholesterol transport.

Drug-drug interactions play an important role in clinical adverse events due to the prevalence of multi-drug therapy. Co-administration of warfarin and a statin has expanded substantially in the US over the last decades. The purpose of this study is to develop a mechanistic understanding of the role of a drug-metabolizing enzyme, CYP4F2, in the interaction between warfarin and statins. This study will test the hypothesis that lovastatin potentiates the anticoagulant effect of warfarin by inducing vitamin K-metabolizing enzyme CYP4F2 in humans, thus increasing warfarin's anticoagulant effect.
This study will be an open-label, randomized, 3-way, 6-sequence crossover study in healthy subjects for determining the relative bioavailability of the tablet formulation to the capsule formulation and the effect of food on the relative bioavailability of the tablet formulation.
The primary objective of Part 1 of this study is to evaluate the safety and tolerability of the intravenous (IV) dose of GDC-0973. Almorexant is an experimental sleep-inducing medication in a new class of medications that is being extensively developed by multiple pharmaceutical companies. Medications in this class block wake/arousal centers in the brain that function with proteins called hypocretins. The goal of this study is to evaluate the impact on cognitive performance of almorexant vs. zolpidem (an approved sleep aid) or placebo.
