Filter by:The purpose of the trial is to study the safety and efficacy of the Medpulser Electroporation System with bleomycin in the treatment of head and neck cancer.
The purpose of this study is to find out whether adding ZD1839 to standard treatment (Cisplatin and Radiation Therapy) of unresectable head and neck cancers is better than cisplatin and radiation alone.
Although gefitinib has been combined successfully with various chemotherapeutic regimens with minimal increase in overall toxicity, experience with concurrent radiation therapy is limited. In this trial, we will evaluate the feasibility, toxicity, and effectiveness a novel combination of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and gefitinib.
1. To determine the prognostic implication of plasma Epstein-Bar Virus (EBV) DNA concentrations, as measured by quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). 2. To relate pretreatment plasma EBV DNA concentration to WHO classification of these tumors both in endemic and non-endemic areas. 3. To determine whether pretreatment plasma EBV DNA can serve as a prognostic factor for both endemic and non-endemic patient populations.
To determine safety profile of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) antagonist, ZD1839 in combination with cisplatin and radiation therapy in patients with local-regional recurrent squamous cell cancer of the head and neck. To study the effects of ZD1839 combined with either cisplatin or radiotherapy on signal transduction pathway gene expression in tumor cells in patients with local-regional recurrent squamous cell cancer of the head and neck using micro array analysis from tumor samples taken at the time of relapse and during treatment.
Technical developments in radiation oncology are making it possible to deliver a prescribed radiation dose to radiation target volume with increasing accuracy. Therefore it is becoming even more relevant to accurately define the radiation target volumes. The current standard in defining radiation target volumes in patients with head-and-neck cancer is to combine physical examination data with a CT-scan in the treatment position. The goal of this investigation is to analyse the rol of CT-PET-MRI image fusion in defining radiation target volumes.
This research study is for subjects with squamous cell cancer of the head and neck which is not solely treatable with surgery or radiation. This research study involves treatment with an experimental chemotherapy combination of oxaliplatin and Taxotere. Tha main purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of this combination of medications for this type of cancer. Approximately 54 subjects will take part in this study.
