NCT ID: NCT00004127 Completed - Gastric Cancer Clinical Trials

Oxaliplatin Combined With Fluorouracil and Leucovorin in Treating Patients With Recurrent or Metastatic Cancer of the Esophagus or Stomach

Start date: February 2000
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combining oxaliplatin with fluorouracil and leucovorin in treating patients who have recurrent or metastatic cancer of the esophagus or stomach.

NCT ID: NCT00003864 Completed - Esophageal Cancer Clinical Trials

Docetaxel Plus Carboplatin in Treating Patients With Advanced Cancer of the Esophagus

Start date: September 3, 1999
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more cancer cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of docetaxel plus carboplatin in treating patients who have advanced cancer of the esophagus.

NCT ID: NCT00003748 Completed - Gastric Cancer Clinical Trials

Irinotecan in Treating Patients With Esophageal or Stomach Cancer

Start date: August 1998
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of irinotecan in treating patients who have esophageal or stomach cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00003427 Completed - Colorectal Cancer Clinical Trials

Oxaliplatin Plus Irinotecan in Treating Patients With Metastatic Gastrointestinal Cancer

Start date: April 1998
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of oxaliplatin plus irinotecan in treating patients with previously treated metastatic gastrointestinal cancer that has not responded to previous treatment.

NCT ID: NCT00003321 Completed - Esophageal Cancer Clinical Trials

Quality-of-Life Assessment of Patients Who Have Cancer of the Esophagus

Start date: February 1998
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

RATIONALE: Questionnaires that measure quality of life may improve the ability to plan treatment for patients who have cancer of the esophagus. PURPOSE: This clinical trial studies quality-of-life assessments of patients with cancer of the esophagus who are receiving treatment.

NCT ID: NCT00003237 Completed - Gastric Cancer Clinical Trials

Combination Chemotherapy After Surgery in Treating Patients With Cancer of the Esophagus or Stomach

Start date: June 22, 1998
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug, and giving them after surgery, may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy, consisting of paclitaxel and cisplatin, given after surgery in treating patients with cancer of the esophagus or stomach.

NCT ID: NCT00003192 Completed - Gastric Cancer Clinical Trials

Aminocamptothecin in Treating Patients With Stomach Cancer or Cancer of the Esophagus

Start date: March 1998
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of aminocamptothecin in treating patients with locally advanced, metastatic, or recurrent cancer of the stomach or esophagus.

NCT ID: NCT00003137 Completed - Gastric Cancer Clinical Trials

Irinotecan in Treating Patients With Advanced Cancer of the Stomach

Start date: December 1997
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of irinotecan in treating patients who have advanced cancer of the stomach.

NCT ID: NCT00003125 Completed - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Vaccine Therapy, Interleukin-2, and Sargramostim in Treating Patients With Advanced Tumors

Start date: January 1998
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Vaccines may make the body build an immune response to kill tumor cells. Colony-stimulating factors such as sargramostim may increase the number of immune cells. Interleukin-2 may stimulate a person's white blood cells to kill cancer cells. Combining vaccine therapy, sargramostim, and interleukin-2 may kill more cancer cells. PURPOSE: Randomized phase II trial to study the effectiveness of vaccine therapy, sargramostim, and interleukin-2 in treating patients who have advanced tumors.

NCT ID: NCT00003118 Completed - Esophageal Cancer Clinical Trials

Surgery With or Without Chemotherapy and Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Cancer of the Esophagus

Start date: October 1997
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. It is not yet known whether surgery is more effective with or without chemotherapy and radiation therapy for cancer of the esophagus. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of surgery with or without combination chemotherapy and radiation therapy in treating patients who have cancer of the esophagus that can be surgically removed.
